The previous preview update available to Insider Program members didn't include any new features, just fixes. Fortunately, the latest update is making up for that with a couple of new features, including Beam and the new Achievement Tracker.
This update should give users a taste having the Beam app installed on the Xbox One by default and control the transparency level of achievements. There is something to note about this update, however, it will only be available to a "subset" of Preview Ring 3 Insiders and will roll out to the rest of users enrolled in Preview Ring 3 in a few weeks.
This update does not bring any fixes.
DETAILS OS version released: rs_xbox_dev_flight.170308-1900
NEW FEATURES:
Beam

 • Beam is an innovative and interactive livestreaming service that gives viewers the ability to watch and deeply interact with their favorite game streamers in real-time, and you can now access Beam from the Guide on Xbox One!
 • You can read more about getting started with Beam in this post in the 1703 Preview Announcements forum.
Beam App

 • The Beam app is now installed by default on Xbox One! To get started with the Beam app, navigate to My games & apps and search for Beam. Please use the Beam app and let us know if you encounter any issues via Report a problem.
Automatic Updates

 • You can now enable automatic updates independently from your console’s power mode (Instant-On or Energy-saving). To enable automatic updates, navigate to the new updates interface in Settings > System > Updates.
 • Consoles in Energy-saving Mode will download any available updates at shut down. For consoles in Instant-On mode, the experience remains the same.
Achievement Tracker

 • You can now control the transparency level and number of achievements in the achievement tracker.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Party Chat

 • Party chat will stop functioning when headset audio is switched from Stereo Uncompressed to Windows Sonic while in a party.
Controller

 • Upon resuming from connected standby, you may be prompted to update your controller firmware when no update is available.
Cortana

 • Cortana may take a long time to respond when activated while playing certain games.
Notifications

 • Some users may not receive certain types of notifications.
Game Clips

 • After capturing a game clip, the game clip fails to automatically post to the Activity Feed (if your profile is configured to do so). Workaround: Manually view game clips in Profile > Captures > Manage captures and post to the Activity Feed.
EA Access

 • The EA Access app may indicate you are not an EA Access subscriber when you are. This does not affect your ability to download or play games from the Vault, or receive discounts on EA titles.
Settings - Ease of Access

 • When enabling the Mono output setting in Ease of Access - Audio, Settings becomes unresponsive, crashes, and fails to launch on subsequent attempts. Workaround: To launch Settings, perform a hard reset (hold down the button on the front of the console for five seconds until it fully powers down, then power it back on).
Settings - Display & sound

 • The Audio output page is under construction and some of the new settings are not yet functional. New support is planned for Dolby Atmos for home theater, Dolby Atmos for headphones, and more in upcoming builds. An announcement will be made when these new features are ready to try out; enabling these settings now will have no effect.
Wireless Display

 • The Wireless Display app fails to launch and immediately crashes to Home

STREET FIGHTER!!!!

A day after the head of the backward compatibility feature on Xbox One made a statement on the current state of the program, the latest backward compatible games have been announced. This week, five games are hitting the Xbox One, but the best one definitely has to be Street Fighter IV.
Announced by Xbox's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb, STREET FIGHTER IV, ACA NeoGeo Sengoku, Luxor 2, Poker Smash, and Madballs Babo:Invasion are hitting the Xbox One backward compatibility library.
It should be noted that the vanilla version of Street Fighter IV is hitting the Xbox One, not Super Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, or Ultra Street Fighter IV. This is the base version of the game from 2009 without the additional characters brought on in the later versions of the game.

New Xbox Wireless Controller brings more grip and better tech

Microsoft has unveiled the latest addition to their artillery and it's absolutely perfect for everyone with moist palms.
Starting April 25th, the Xbox Wireless Controller - Recon Tech Special Edition will be available as the first item in the new 'Tech Series' of Xbox Wireless Controllers for $69.99.
The front of the new controller is laser etched with gold accents and the back features a "textured diamond rubberized grip for added control and comfort." The controller isn't just featuring upgrades for those with sweaty hands, there are also a few improvements on the inside.
The Recon Tech Special Edition of the Xbox Wireless Controller has improved wireless range and Bluetooth technology for gaming on Windows 10 devices or Samsung Gear VR. It is compatible with the Xbox Accessories App's custom button mapping, as well as the new Copilot feature on the Xbox One.
The Copilot feature lets two controllers act as one, which means that you can play a game with your friend acting as training wheels. One player controls the game and the other helps them out with the controls on a different remote. It's a great feature - unless the other person with the remote is a troll.

I'm looking forward to you buying and returning your first 3 Scorpios mate. :woot:

as much as I want Scorpio asap after it comes out.... I've gotta replace my car at the end of the year. doubt I can afford both

I've got the return receipts all ready. :o

Haha. I have a feeling for some reason that you'll end up getting this one when you're ready and finally settle on it. My digital game download speeds are now superfast btw although I think it can still be slow on the S. I downloaded Witcher 3 and predownloaded ME:A at the same time and they were done by the time I got back from dinner.

Hmm, well the car sounds like more of a basic need lol.

it does feel like the Scorpio will be what the X1 should have been - like the X1 has been some weird 4-year beta test product.

you've no idea. i'm a wheelchair user & if I didn't have my car, i'd literally be housebound.

That sounds pretty accurate lol.

Oh yes, I think I knew that, maybe from the football thread. Scorpio will have to be no.2 on the list in your case then mate, just above food and water. ;)

I think I know what i'll be asking family to help get me for Christmas...

Just hope the next Forza still works on XB1 as well as Scorpio....

I'm sure all the main ongoing franchises will work on X1 till the end of the gen. The only games I could see being Scorpio-only would be totally new games designed specifically for it, maybe some VR titles for eg.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations and Darksiders now backwards compatible.

Yasss.

It looks like Xbox gamers can look forward to a long awaited feature heading to the Xbox Store! While no release date has been revealed, a 'Wishlist' feature will be added to the Xbox Store. Replying to the inquisitive Xbox fan on Twitter, Xbox Head Phil Spencer detailed that the feature would make its way to the Xbox Store.
"The feature is on our list of things we are going to add."
In addition to that, Spencer addressed the fact that recently, Xbox exclusives haven't been very balanced as far as releases go. Last year, most releases fell into Fall.
"Last 12 months shipped in April (QB), Sept, Oct, Dec, Feb (HW2). Ship dates aren't easy but I agree on need to balance."
With Project Scorpio on the horizon, Microsoft has made it clear that they will be beefing up their exclusives lineup, saying it's critical for the upcoming console. So far, they have teased a big lineup for their E3 2017 conference, which will be taking place Sunday, June 11th.

Well, that's definitely some praise!

We've only got a couple more month's to go before we get to see more of Xbox's upcoming console, Project Scorpio, but that doesn't mean GameStop executives can't talk about it! According to one of the executives at the game retailer, Scorpio is "very powerful" and "very gaming centric."
GameStop's most recent investor call, Chief Operating Officer, Tony Bartel offered a bit of his thoughts on Project Scorpio and what he's seen of it.
“We[re] impressed with [the] Microsoft Scorpio product," said Bartel. Despite Xbox Head Phil Spencer describing Project Scorpio as a "premium console" for "the premium gaming customer," Bartel believes that Project Scorpio is a “gamer friendly powerful console” that will help drive sales during the holiday season.
Echoing the statements of the Middle-earth: Shadow of War developer on Project Scorpio's ability, Bartel went on to speak on how powerful the console is. “Unfortunately we can’t talk about a lot other than what’s known”, he said. The Scorpio is “a very powerful system that’s really made for 4K”, he added. “We see it [as] a very gaming centric, very, very powerful unit and so we do believe that there will be some great games that are made for this.”
The concept of Scorpio being the "most powerful console ever" has been Microsoft's sticking point since its reveal in June 2015.

Cool to hear them talking about Scorpio, only 2 months till more details!

I wonder if existing games will get a boost from Scorpio's power naturally, or will they have to be patched individually like with the Pro?

take Mass Effect Andromeda, for example. When Scorpio comes out later in the year, will it make a game like MEA run and look better?

I would have thought they would at least run better even if they don't look better without a patch but we don't know anything yet. I'm getting it regardless for how future games will run but I really hope it upgrades prior games too.

^ hopefully, we'll find out more before E3.

I doubt we get too much before E3 but we should get most things confirmed then. Price will definitely be an interesting one if they choose to tell us then.

well, I just read somewhere again that Spencer repeated that he wants E3 to focus on the games.

so that seems to suggest there might be a separate Scorpio event prior to E3.

and yeah, price is the biggest concern for me, too. If it's $600 or more, then I think I'm going to pass on it this year.

There aren't any games to focus on lol!
