I come up with the same thing he does

Surtur?

Does anyone else think that Surtur will have a heavy, heavy presence in this movie?

As a Thor fan, for me, that's the best it gets. In terms of individual film villains, we've had the ironmonger, that mutt in Iron man 2, Loki, Abomination, The Red Skull....and possibly Surtur as part of the thor sequel. Talk about raising the bar. I think this is going to be the movie that really sets Thor apart from the rest of the heroes.
:yay: Stay thirsty my friend, The trailer arrives in less than 8 days...
Me I am more excited for the 3rd and final trailer around October, that one will introduce Kurse for sure as well as some major battle footage between the two...That will really get the people excited...

:D

Hmmm... Any thoughts on what that all could refer to? I'm going through my mental files on Thor enemies that are associated with Darkness. I remember Surtur forging Twilight in darkness. DOOM, DOOM, DOOM ect. But maybe I am remembering it wrong. Any other cosmic Marvel entities that are know for darkness and could reasonably be used here?

Well, there's the Dark Dimension, ruled by Dormammu; which certainly could be a setup for the Doc Strange movie. Plus, Dormammu and Surtur share enough similarities in appearance that it *could* be that the MCU wants to create an amalgamation of the two.

And Chthon ("The Other") could still be a part of all this, and if so, his presence could point towards Mt. Wundagore and the Maximoffs in Avengers 2 (plus, "The Other" has already appeared in Avengers 1, although there's never been any confirmation that Denisof's character *is* the comic-book "Other" --- i.e., Chthon).

The Ether definitely sounds like comic-book darkforce:

So uh reshoots huh? Good sign bad sign cosine?

rumor is that Darcey and Sif are involved. my imagination is running wild.

Almost all of these movies go through reshoots. It's really nothing to worry about, especially considering that part of Sif's shooting didn't get to happen because she was injured.

Idris Elba confirmed while promoting Pacific Rim that he, too, is taking part in the reshoots.

To be fair, let's imagine for a moment that they want to reshoot something because what they already had wasn't as good as they wanted. So... what's the problem with that?

In the era of Internet we kill the movie before we've watched it. There have been cases of movies that were actually improved by (more extensive) reshoots.

Even the lord of the rings films have pretty extensive re-shoots. Its not an issue.

Not too worried if the re-shoots involve Sif.

All the Thor women - Natalie, Kat, Rene - are beautiful, but Jamie Alexander just has that oomph factor for me.

Actually, I think it would be cool if Marvel did a short film with Sif and Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell). Nothing pornographic, but something like the film "Bound". Lol

Ah, lesbian fantasies. Perhaps "Wild Things" with Neve Campbell and Denise Richards would float your boat as well.:oldrazz:

It's kind of refreshing to read a guy fantasizing about a couple of non-related females. I've seen way too much from the Loki/Thor shippers (involuntary, I may add). It's disturbing.

Jamie has sort of a generic beauty imo. Perfect for her role but i prefer the more distinctive look of Ms. Dennings.

edit: have we heard a peep from Taylor recently? do we know for a fact that hes directing the reshoots? if he isnt, can we infer a problem?

We haven't heard anything but apparently there's a Disney conference soon and T:TDW will be a hot subject there, so we may info in said conference.

I hope the problems with the director settled down. :csad:

Also, if they ever make an epilogue of the franchise, I hope they adapt Kieron Gillen's run on Journey Into Mystery. I've been reading it and damn, it's good.

I hope they come to the conclusion that Alan Taylor's 2 hr 30 min running would be best for the film. T:TDW only being 10 minutes longer than the first film would probably hurt it especially since there's so much stuff to pack into the movie.

On another note, from the sounds of that book they really are making the dark elves sound badass and they're building them up nicely. Because honestly based on their "look" they don't seem like they would be much of a threat to Thor. So I hope they have magical powers to go along with their weaponry, I don't want them to just rely on their lasers.

Their size? :oldrazz:

I really hope Sif is all over the reshoots and they are making up for the time she had to miss because of her injury. I know they had to drop her from one action sequence because of it.

Has anyone confirmed that Jaimie is on hand for the reshoots?

If they cut this film down, I never want to here again how much Marvel believes in talented directors.

You haven't seen the film so you aren't in any place to make a statement like that. It should be as long as it needs to be, whether that's 90 minutes or 3 hours.

That's just assuming Marvel and Taylor thing is even true in the first place.

Jaimie tweeted a picture of herself at the gym prepping for it.

And I'll be back... :o

And Moridin I agree ,the movie should be as long as it needs to be. And that decision should belong to the director, not the producers.

Disney Fandom thing is about to start, I am hoping someone is recording it to catch any phase 2 glimpse...

Luckily where I live I have two different Disney XD channels(One channel is for EST and the other is for PST). I will watch the original broadcast and if I notice anything on it related to phase 2 I will record the footage when it comes around on the PST broadcast.

Do that; please!:woot:

^This. If this film is cut down it won't be because it serves the story. It is because marvel is bound and determined to create two hour films regardless of what the story needs. It should be left up to the director. I've already made up my mind if the film isn't Alan Taylor's desired length then the only way Marvel is getting my money on this film is with absolutely glowing reviews from general audiences, fans, and critics. If I so much as hear the word rushed, lack of development, cramped or anything of that nature then it becomes a rental. I'm already getting a bit burnt out on Marvel and their seemingly cookie cutter formula, but Thor is the one character I really really like and i want to continue to see the character given top quality treatment so Marvel dicking with the character to meet a maximum profit runtime isn't the way to win me over.

I will don't you worry! It seems as though my video game capture card is going to be used once again! Luckily my cable box uses component cables so I can record with my capture card. Unfortunately I won't be able to get 1080p off of this, only 720p.

I'm going to use my first post to rant a bit on the term "reshoot" as it has always irritated me. Every time the topic of additional shooting comes up for a film, people seem to start hand wringing with worry that the film is in dire straights.

As some have already mentioned, almost every film has some additional filming. It's a normal part of the film-making process. For some reason though "reshoots" has become the blanket term for this process when it's not truly accurate.

There are two types of additional filming that happens after principle photography on a film has wrapped. "Pick-ups", which is the accurate term for additional filming is when something needs to be filmed that could not for whatever reason be filmed during the principle shoot. Jaimie Alexander is a prime example, since she was injured she could not film all her material during principle photography and thus had to pick it up later. Another reason for pick-ups may be that during the editing stage it's realized new scenes or bridges between scenes that weren't in the script originally are needed to make an action/story point clearer or flow better. Essentially anything new or that wasn't able to be filmed in the first round of filming is called a Pick-Up.

Now reshoots are when there is a problem with the existing material that has already been shot and as the word describes needs to be done over again. It could be for any number of reasons, technical, continuity, performance, etc. It doesn't mean the entire film is in jeopardy just that certain things here or there may need to be fixed by shooting it over again. I suppose this why some people get worried when they hear "reshoot", they think if there's one thing wrong then everything must be wrong.

Anyway, end rant. Carry on folks.
