I like both Thor movies more than most people on these boards, but I'm excited to see where the New creative team will take the character.
This negativity is exactly why I avoid these forums these days. Just such a downer for someone who enjoys these films. People have made it a full time occupation to talk endlessly about how mediocre they feel the Thor films are particularly the last one. We get it. You didn't like them. Move on already.
And for the all the anti-humor folks I don't know what Thor comics they were reading growing up but Thor always made me laugh. Tongue-in-cheek Waititi tweets a comical, classic moment in Thor's greatest run and people lose their $#!t. A bunch of faux fans is what they are.
I've said it time and again Thor is not LOTR. Kirby and Lee created a wacky mashup of mythology, fantasy, sci-fi and superheroics. There's nothing LOTR whatsoever about the Wrecking Crew, the Absorbing Man, the Rigellians, the Recorder, Planet Ego or Zarrko the Tomorrow Man. Frodo Baggins never hopped in a space ship, Gandalf never traveled through time and Aragorn never joined the Avengers and fought in New York City. Just stop already. Geez...
I am really confused...
Hearing something like "Ragnarok" and "End of Days" and "important movie"... and till now, i know - just rumors, it sounds more like a "next Thor adventure".
He was migrant farmhand Orrin. He smacked around some local toughs after they questioned the propriety of his spending time with a young widow and saved the woman's son by throwing his body into the path of a runaway tractor.

Others probably knew this, but I just noticed that Thor will be going up against Justice League (Pt 1) 2 weeks after its release. I'm wondering if that will move.
Spiderman got moved. Thankfully that didn't lead to (yet) another shake up of movie release dates.![]()
Yikes.

I think being up against the Justice League is what is making Marvel do such a shake up with the Thor movie. Bringing in the Hulk will definitely boost the box office as will bringing in someone like Cate Blanchett.
The Winter Soldier was a great movie but it was definitely helped by having several of the Avenger stars (Black Widow, Nick Fury and Shield), along with introducing two new heroes (Falcon and Winter Soldier). I think that was their thoughts concerning creating buzz and a neat story for Thor!
There's no way Marvel is going to want Thor to bomb, when you spend ~ $150 million making a movie, Disney is going to expect results. Plus I think Fiege (sp?) pride is on the line. I think everyone will be surprised just how good this movie turns out.
Mjölnir;32852115 said:Thor being set so close to Episode VIII is what could make me see them moving it, as it would be fairly close competition between two movies from Disney. While the next SW movie quite possibly could make less money than the previous one (even if it's better, which I think it might be) it's probably going to be clearly bigger than both Ragnarok and Justice League.
Whether or not Marvel moves Ragnarok will largely depend on the box office for BvS. I could see Marvel rolling the dice that the Thor-Hulk pairing will hold up regardless of the competition.
I don't see an "Avengers" style bump for JL since we're seeing the heavy hitters fight together in a couple of months. So if BvS doesn't get the record breaking box office reception that folks are those threads are convinced will occur, my thinking is that Feige and company will hold firm. Just like they did with Civil War.
That sounds fine, but what would it "hurt" to move it up a week? I think BvS will do fine, but I certainly don't expect Avengers type of numbers.

Taika talks more about the humor of Thor 3.
I'm ready to hear something about how this will be the "Winter Soldier" of Thor movies, like Feige said.
I don't get what Marvel is doing with this movie, to be honest.
Feige talked about it being a game changer and its called Thor Ragnarok so the stakes should be personal and very high for the lead character. But we keep hearing about road buddy comedies with Hulk and how funny the director wants the movie to be. Those seem like two different movies there, and trying to make both of them into one film will just lead to a mess. And we got plenty of wackiness with The Dark World so I don't see how going even more comedic would be much of a game changer.
