In term of my own enjoyment, I care what I think and not some critic. But I'd be lying if I didn't say I would be paying attention to the overall consensus.

Amy Chimson ‏@AmyChimson 18s #manofsteel is amazing! My brother forced me 2 watch early screening, and I usually hate superhero films lol. It is great! Cavill is a dream

I wouldn't say mixed, but there are gonna be some who don't like it because of the CGI or too much action since I am seeing tons of "amazing action and lots of action". I think more and more THIS Superman movie was for us! not the critics.
Still guessing a 85 on RT and probably a 7.6 average rating.
There are people who say that The Avengers had no plot or character development, simply because it was an action-packed movie. If MOS is any good, the truly perceptive will be able to see it, no matter how much action there is.

Some people can't see past their preconceived notions. That's why you have people lamenting that Snyder turned Watchmen into a "dumb action movie" even though every action scene in the film was present in the orignal graphic novel.

Tonally, Man of Steel deviates itself from Nolan's Batman films and plays out much more like a film that belongs in the Marvel-verse. This is a Snyder and David Goyer film, definitely not a Nolan film.

A DC type narration with a Marvel-type tone? I can dig it :)

wut

:funny:

It's kind of funny. Some reviewers have said the tone of the film reminds them somewhat of The Dark Knight Trilogy and others have felt the opposite about the tone.

I'm alright for the first part to be Nolanesque, and the second part to be Avengers-style, but more intense. That would be the BEST of both worlds, IMHO.

Saw #manofsteel last night. Entertaining throughout, epic scale, crazy scifi, but in the end feels like a cgi video game with a unique story

Saw #ManofSteel last night. You have nothing to worry about, It defined a new level of action

Somehow these tweets doesn't fill me with a whole lot of confidence. I think the highlighted above are pretty stupid statements. "in the end feels like a CGI video game". "You have nothing to worry about. It defined a new level of action". Sooo, because the movie is splattered all over with over the top action, we have nothing to worry about?! When has that ever guaranteed a GOOD movie? Say. Never! If so, Transformers 3 would've won oscars! And the first tweet refers to the film as a CGI-video game! So, should all this fill us with confidence??? dumb.

I am not reviewing MAN OF STEEL before 6/10, but I bought the special edition soundtrack right away. Like, minutes after the movie ended.

Man of Steel is an excellent movie, but I will be shocked if it beats Iron Man 3

In terms of box office numbers, that is. Hard to actually compare the two.

Going to finish reading my comics, then write my Man of Steel review so all I have to do Monday is hit publish.

This is a massive overreaction.

In what world is taking action scenes to new heights (incredibly hard to do these days) a bad thing? People are comparing it to great movies, and you compare it to Transformers because people praise the action?

By the way the review embargo is being lifted on June 10 at 8pm PT. I assume that this is a good sign going forward.

Can somebody with a twitter account ask this guy for more details?

Got an ominous opinion re: Man of Steel.

Do most of you put more stock in professional critic reviews or the reviews/reactions from "regular" viewers?

I don't care about any "professional" reviewers opinion. Yours and mine are the ones that matter.

I guess he means, the opinion was negative.

Yeah, I understand that. But I'm wondering what exactly he's basing his opinion on. Has he seen the film? Did he hear something bad from a friend? Or is he just basing his opinion on the trailers? And also, exactly how bad is "ominous?"
