Let me ask you guys a serious question. Assume they polled this forum on their opinion of the latest Sex & The City movie. What do you think the average "score" might be? Then after that, poll a group of females ages 25-40. You think their score might be a bit more favorable?

I take more from the positive reviews than the negative ones, especially the one posted on Modern Myth. Now I'm not saying their word is infallible. The fact that their reviewer gushed over it doesn't make his opinion "more right" than someone that didn't. But it means more to me. Chances are that guy is just like me, and like us. He most likely went into the theater with the same love and the same appreciation, and the same expectations as we did... and he was floored. Flat out floored. Is he bias? Probably. Guess what, I am too. Superman is my favorite superhero. I don't just want to love this movie, I expect to love this movie. And this is without even seeing it. So when I see a fellow fan exit the theater carrying the exact same sentiments I expect from myself, it's very re-assuring. And no it's not blind fanboyism. I wanted to love the Star Wars prequels also but those were steaming piles. This is different. Superman fans are exiting the theater with an ear to ear grin.

Who cares what it's scoring on RT. Maybe it's just not hitting the right notes for those people. Then again maybe they don't know where to look for the notes in the first place. But for us? I just don't get the vibe that this movie is going to fall short. It looks to be everything we wanted and more.

Actually it's more like:

Wow, look at all the folks on here fricking out... if the GA love this movie it doesn't matter what rating is on RT... Wait after this weekend before you start claiming it's over for MOS... So far for all the regular non-comic book folks I know that have seen MOS love it and call it the best they have seen... I'm not worry at all... Plus a Sequel is already announce and confirm by WB. This weekend all of us will witness the start of the JL Universe.

Does it really matter the RT meter? This is a reboot of one of the most praised and beloved comic book movie ever. For what I I've seen and read I'm sooooo confident it will be really good...

Why are people so obsessed with RT? 71% isn't so bad, it's not like the movie is getting trashed like Transformers 2 and 3 are.

^ Because we all KNOW the critics hurt Transformers' BO :D

Look I think it is worrying if MOS falls below 60%, but it continues to hover around 70% so I am not going to panic yet. Also, look at "The Great Gatsby" with a lousy 50% rating and it did great business. And that is the kind of movie which counts on an older audience who care about critical reviews. Even a low RT rating (but I do think MOS will finish above 60%) does not spell doom at the BO. :o

I, for one, am getting a wee bit discouraged by the negative reviews I have been reading since this morning. I cannot just dismiss those reviews as they are written, maybe not by experts per se, but at least by members of the viewing public, and the viewing public is the ultimate judge of any movie. Won't hurt to see Henry smile more, too much fighting scenes to the the extent of dragging, too dark, etc. I appreciate that it is indeed depending on the taste of the particular reviewer, but still, it is discouraging to say the least, that a movie of this magnitude still doesn't please some people, and that there will always be people who are never pleased.

Is it too much to hope for this movie to be Superman's Batman Begins?
BB is sitting at a nice 85%. We could manage to go from 71 to 80 right?

I cant wait to see all this massive action, really weird to see complaints about it, were there complaints about this in The Avengers?

Well IGN gave it a 9 and Jahns gave it a "Buy on Blu-Ray" so that pleases me. I want to see what Travers and Rooper say about it. Those are my four favorite critics, I had a fifth but unfortunately he is no longer with us.

Very wishful thinking. Movies on RT move faster downward then they do upward after the first couple of days. We should hope it at least just stays in the 70's at this point.

In terms of critics no.. They seem set on dissing certain aspects of the film but the GA may see it that way...

Roeper is my go to guy I always agree with his takes so if he is underwhelmed I am going to worry a tad..

Even the most praised movies in the world have their detractors, that's just how it works, right now, we're all trying to figure out reasons why the negative people think the way they do.

Don't try to understand, it's useless, just like I've stopped trying to understand (even if I still struggle at times :D ) those who have an opinion different to mine ^^

We are just wired in a way to care, to care for this stupid critical reception. Want my guess? I think the audiences worldwide will love it, they will eat it up.

Well it can't be worse than Green Lantern. It's all up, up and away! from there

More worrying trends:

If you just looked at the last 16 reviews, it's 50%,.... which means the rotten is just starting to come in... if the trend holds, it may settle a lot lower yet...

Top Critics: 44%

The Hobbit has a 65% on RT and I really enjoyed it.

Just sayin.

This is kinda surreal...

I mean I did NOT see this coming. I've been disappointed so many times before in the past few years, but this? The trailers made it look so damn amazing. Great cast, great producer, good visual director, decent enough writer, Hans friggin Zimmer. It had all the ingredients for an amazing film.

So when I see these negative films pouring in, and even the positive reviews are saying that it's just "ok", it doesn't seem real dude.

What if Man of Steel is better with Kinect?

I usually agree with Roeper and Peter Travers from Rolling Stone. They usually both like fun movies and are not typically snobby with their criticism. If they give negative reviews then I might really start to doubt if I will love MOS. :csad:

I have 10-15 of my friends ready to see this on saturday. They had no interest. I built up the hype for them and now they're on board. If this movie turns out to be just OK, they're going to be on my ass somethin serious lol.

Step down from the ledge, dude. There's a ton of reviews to be tallied. Also, this is going to garner some criticism from the critics. I'm not worried about the critics views whatsoever. Their %'s don't appeal to me. The audience is loving it, that's ALL it matters when it comes to this new franchise. People put way to much emphasis on critical nit-picks.
