I'm hoping in the sequel will be better.

You are the first I've heard mention bad acting... So many people said the acting was amazing... so I don't know if you are trolling or serious. I will know one way or another by Friday morning.

I have to say that this might be one of the most grand wastes of talent I've seen in a movie. Waste of good actors, waste of a great composer, waste of great visuals and cgi, waste waste waste. It really seems like the blame is going to David Goyer for not knowing how to write a proper script here.
You seem really intent on giving up before you've even seen the damn film for yourself. I mean, I'm worried, too, but Christ, give it a rest!

We're getting some truly weird mixed reviews here, first, we had all this positive reaction with all the actors giving great performances, great action, a lot of heart and sensibility. Now, it's no heart, too much action, too dark, too serious?

I'm baffled, I have to wait till next wednesday to see it, but I feel I'm going to be even more baffled after seeing it.

How can a movie with such an all star cast have BAD ACTING? I don't get it. I didn't expect the acting to be a problem in this movie.

yeah, acting is the last thing those critics are saying is wrong, they're focusing on the apparent oversaturation in the action scenes and the pacing of the action.

If people want to let themselves be disappointed by a movie before they even see it, let them. No skin off our noses. It's their own fault they are so easily led. It's still mind-blowing because....THE FILM ISN'T GETTING A MAJORITY OF BAD REVIEWS!!!

Pacing issues and character beats are all subjective. Some people felt these things were rushed and whatnot in TDKR, I personally felt that film handled these aspects the best. MAKE. UP. YOUR. OWN. DAMN. MIND.

It's just annoying to see such a stupidly large amount of negativity from a single person in one thread. Like, we get it, you're not happy with the way the reviews are going. Neither are we. Jeez.

That's pretty standard for any highly anticipated genre movie where a portion of the dedicated fanbase see it first. For most it takes a few days for the fanboy goggles to slide off. Even reviewers/critics are fans first. It's hard to be objective when anticipation clouds judgement.

naw, he's not trolling. thats has opinion. you and I will have to see it and if we agree with him or not.

I count myself as a hardcore Superman fan and my opinion of the film was the complete opposite. I never once wanted to roll my eyes, and the audience gave a roaring applause after it was over.

Exactly, and many fans are loving it too (from Costa Rica):

...for that you would have to read David S. Goyer's script. The movie is what A DIRECTOR makes out of a script. And of course, Goyer probably has contributed to the faults, but if a movie doesn't work the most responsible person on the crew is the director.

Stop acting like i'm the only one upset and has made more than one post about being upset. I'm not here to please you slimshady247 so if it really bothers you THAT much, put me on ignore. Problem solved.

The more and more it plummets, the more and more I want to see it for myself and root even harder. Can't wait. Bring on tomorrow night!

Probably the script if i'm being honest.
Theres some bad dialogue. Zod had some bad lines. The "I will find him!" scene is cringe worthy and badly edited in terms of emotional build up.

Remember how awesome the scene with Brando and Stamp was in STM. After Stamp says "Join us" Brando simply turned on that "light pointer" thing and turned his back on Zod. That one moment is way more powerful than any Zod scenes in this.

Russell Crowe had the best lines and was the highlight by FAR followed closely by Faora.
Theres some good stuff in this movie, but my heart broke that more attention and care wasn't put into the important scenes.

I think Zack is at fault too, but it seems mostly that Goyer missed the mark on this one.

I don't think I've seen anyone else here, save for maybe one or two, generate as much negativity as you. Also, being "upset" is completely absurd. Calm down. It's just a movie, and you haven't seen it yet.

I'll just say it, S:TM is a piece of Americana. It has been for the past few decades. Some of the younger kids may not get it and people internationally may not all have the hardcore love for it, but it's what a lot of people here in the U.S. grew up on akin to a Star Wars for them, hence why some may feel apt to dismiss anything different from that.

Unless you're dealing with a pinch hitter like Snyder, who does a good-to-decent job when a good-to-decent script is laid out in front of him and all he has to worry about is visuals. But when he doesn't, or is working off of his own originality he has major issues. Goyer is by no means a good writer. When his name is attached to a film without a co-writer it spells trouble.

Yeah, SFX is the only mag I buy, so it does make me feel slightly better.

It's just weird... There must be a reason for so much hate on the film... And it's either something from inside the movie, or some weird agenda from the outside...

It's strange, film tastes over here in the UK aren't that different from the US. There are reviews on Rotten Tomatoes giving the film 2/5? This film has really split the critics. Some say the lack of character and humour affected the film for them, and other's from saying that there's too much action, just wanted a sequel to Superman Returns (nostalgia factor to Donner's films)

Us against the world, guys. I hope by tomorrow night, this depressing feeling is going to turn the tides in how we all feel about Superman back on the big screen. Don't let this get you down. It's still our time and the mass's are going to favor this in a positive light. Interested how tomorrow night is going to go with all of us when we actually see it with our own eyes. I'm not worried.

Not trolling at all. Again, it may be the script and director. But some scenes didn't work.

2 weeks ago I'd be saying the same thing to naysayers. In fact I'd be a more angry defender. I adore Superman and want more movies.
:)

Please stop telling me to calm down, you seem to think i'm breathing heavier than Miles Dyson trying to hold the trigger to the bomb in Terminator 2. I'm merely giving my thoughts on the situation, and I don't need to see the movie at this point to know i'm gonna be disappointed. Because pacing and story is important to me, and reading all the criticisms of the story in full detail is enough to convince me that this movie is pretty rough around the edges.

This is probably a healthier attitude to take.

It's not so much that it affects me, it's that I fear what it could mean for future films. sequels, JL, etc.
It doesnt matter if I (or you) love it if the public doesnt take to it.
I know not everyone reads what the critics have to say, but alot do.
Alot is riding on this so I want it to do well critically and financially. ( but I'll take the financially :))

Most people don't care about critics, otherwise the Transformers franchise (among many others) would be dead by now.

I dread to see what happens when some critics don't like Pacific Rim next month. Mass Hype suicides.

This is such a profoundly stupid thing to say, I'm actually astounded. What part of "wait and see" do you not understand? Are you not able to formulate your own opinions? Watch the damn film first and see how it pans out. You aren't necessarily going to agree with all the complaints.
