This is enough to make you old... Well, it's official and obviously predictable but Goyer went on to say that a sequel is completely dependent on the box office figures. I sincerely hope, for all our sake that MoS crushes the BO this weekend and beyond. Otherwise we're back at square one. And I don't want to see that happen again :cmad:

That was never not the case. Could have gotten 99 rt score if it got below 500 WW they wouldn't greenlight the sequel.

I hope you are not referring to me. I am not trying to bash the film. I trying to be realistic. Not pessimistic or optimistic like everyone on this forum is right now.

I'm sorry, it's just really hard to stay positive right now, especially with more and more people chipping in with 'yeah it sucks' comments.

I think i'm gonna have to get off the forum for tonight TBH. I need to clear my head of everyone elses opinions and just try and go in with how I feel from the trailers and clips.

I'll see you guys on the other side :)

All is right in the World, Peter Travers (Rollingstone magazine) says Man of Steel is worthy of your money:)

RT critic, 2 stars out of 4

Same old, same old.

At least an hour of Man of Steel's excessive running time is devoted to the sort of crash-and-burn, slamming-into-skyscrapers CG fight scenes that we've already seen in The Avengers and Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Spider-Man.

Same 'ol, same 'ol? So wait, a comic book superhero is.. GASP.. a comic book superhero? Who would have thought.

To the people expecting to see the Notebook, you'll be sadly disappointed!

When this movie makes over 200 million this weekend DESPITE what the "critics" say, what are you all going to gripe about then??

There are gonna be way more negative people once the film hits, but also way more positive. It's the way things go. Can't let others bring you down, especialyl if you like the film after seeing it.

So, first you can't take critics seriously; because, of course, regular joes and comic book aficionados are going to be a better voice when it comes to a movie like Man of Steel. But now you can't take people posting comments on the forums seriously.

Oh, the irony.

I agree about the comic book geeks. As far as regular joes go, they have less of an agenda, but probably less of a standard than critics do. Could this be an OKAY movie in general, but a GREAT superhero movie?

I will have to agree with you on this one. I need to go in there with all this bias and judge it with my own eyes.

The excuses people are making around here are ridiculous to the point where y'all's are justifying bad reviews as a good thing.
Especially as most havent seen the film yet.

Funny that so many here complain about Batman being grounded in reality, and looking foward to the next franchise hoping its a bit more comic booky, yet the serious grounded approach is getting applause here - from people who havent even seen the film!

Batman is psychological, so it makes sense for him to be gritty and more grounded in reality.

But one character should embrace his "comic book-ness" is Superman.

BTW - if you've seen Avengers more than once or the Star Wars prequels enough times (not saying either is good nor bad - just saying if you're a repeat viewer regardless) enjoying seeing VIS FX shots that are EXACTLY THE SAME with new skins on them to be the characters from this movie and not those.

When I attended TDK marathon at my local AMC, I was not blown away by the LieMAX screen or sound. The screen is just closer to the audience, and barely any bigger than a regular 2D screen. The sound was loud but extremely distorted. Now, this could have just been my theater but when I traveled out of the state to go see TDKR in true 70mm IMAX, that was an experience.

I have seen a lot of movies that weren't shot in 70mm on real IMAX screens and I will still say it is far and away a better experience due to the magnitude of screen/sound. 20,000 + watts of sound

I'll take that.

You're right... the 'old liemax' sucks... I am talking about the new ones... the ones that just came out this year...

Also, there's no standard sizes for LieMax, it can be as small as 70feet all the way to hundreds.. we have a couple here, one is way, way larger than the other.. but both were huge.. maybe 1 was 4 story high, the other 5 stories (the bigger one is almost as big as the true IMAX, that we also have here).

See.. this is exactly the problem with IMAX Corp.. they decided to just call all Digital IMAX, 'IMAX'.. there's nothing to differentiate them when in reality there are so many versions..

here are the 3 main ones:

1. The true IMAX (the ones that uses 70mm projectors)

- These are great for IMAX documentaries / shows shot with 70mm film...
- But if you're watching movies on them, you still get only 35mm quality (or, at beats about equivalent to 4K resolution... you can't extract too much from 35mm films anyways)

2. Digital IMAX (the ones you call LieMAX)

- These comes in various sizes, from really small to really huge... the big ones can be almost as big as the true IMAX screens.. or bigger depending on which true IMAX you watch it on...

3. Even within the Digital LieMAX, they keep upgrading the Projectors, Screens, Sound, etc...

- The vast majority uses 2K projectors..
- The very new ones may be using dual Barco 4K projectors, which is way, way better... it's as good as you can go with 35mm films...

Now, with Sound
----------------

The newer LieMAX digital theaters now uses the newest IMAX Sounds.. it's way better than Dolby 7.1. The theater I go to have this.. there are 2 giant (car sized) speakers at the back.. and it uses laser guided system, or something.. not quite sure the technicality of it.. but it's way, way better than the OLD True IMAX theater we have...

I too was confused a month back and did all of these research because i wanted to watch MOS in the best IMAX I can find...

BTW: TDK has one scene shot in 70mm IMAX film.. now, when that scene comes in, you will see the difference in true IMAX 70mm theaters... but other than that movie, none I know of have any scenes shot in resolution higher than 35mm...

I felt it more in line with Matrix Revolutions, especially the final fight. It felt like most of the same shots but with different characters and a blue saturated color palate instead of a green one

From a recent rotten review http://www.stltoday.com/entertainment/movies/joe-williams/man-of-steel-crashes-and-burns/article_5a792d86-7da6-5cb1-986f-4912c06840d8.html
"The costumes and sets look like rejected designs for “Dune” collectibles. Instead of the primary colors from the classic comic books, the dominant hue is pewter."

From a lot of the reviews I just get the sense that a lot of the critics are not taking kindly to the "modernization" of the character.
From some the nitpicks in the reviews, its clear to me that most folks use the Superman depicted in the Donner movies as their benchmark.
I am really starting to get a feeling that the world has moved past Superman :(

59% we have a green splat guys, it's over....

The Hulk tearing apart the fighter jet skin was definitely reused. As was the Obiwan jumping down in the opening of Attack of the Clones and being caught by Anakin in the speeder were used on Krypton.

Took me out of the movie so much when they happened.

"Superman, Man Of Steel" is the best movie I have seen in a long time! Hands down! Highly recommended!

Just a few new reactions

This was already apparent yesterday,... it's been steadily dropping since the RT score came up...

Since anything below 60% is rotten, it'll have to bring in a lot more fresh vs rotten for it to stay fresh.. and at over 100 reviews, that's not probable

Critically MOS will probably be another 300 that jumps from fresh to rotten, but hovers around 60. But hopefully with a high audience rating.
