That's your prerogative but while I hope I don't have the same opinions he does when I see it I think his review was well written and pointed to some credible issues to have with a movie.

I don't get the die hard attitude to dismiss everything negative as bad and not to take seriously. I'd say it's far more serious to have seen the movie and explain your thoughts in detail than to not having seen the movie and dismiss what people who have think about it just because they aren't saying what you want to hear (which I'm sure is the problem here).

Even if you watch it and love it doesn't mean that another person's opinions aren't worth taking seriously.

Well like I was saying his opinion it is. Dont go into it with his opinion or you wont enjoy it. Hundreds of positive reviews say other wise to his opinion. Doesnt make him wrong but he is trying to convince people its bad instead of letting us decide for ourselves. You seem like a smart movie goer, dont let the negative reviewers or people on here control your decision.

Not sure if anyone has posted a link to this yet, but this article, written by someone who had already seen an early screening of the film and really liked it, has a pretty interesting analysis over why the critical reception of the film has turned out to be so mixed:

In short, the movie critics are actually missing the classic Superman and want him back.

It's the same excuse over and over and over and over ad naseum. Still haven't seen any proof of this.

I think nostalgia also has a big factor on the reviews. some people and even critics who grew up with the Reeve movies will always think it's the best one and new versions will always be bad automatically.

I guess if they remade movies like Harry Potter, LOTR and the like in the future the people who saw it in their time will always think it's the best out there.

If u really wanna blame, I think i think u can blame zack for too concentrate on the core story n forget to do some ' hero self promoting scenes' like in STM, IM n Avengers.

It's going all the way down to 50% on RT. DC needs to just reboot all their movies. (sarcasm)

Surely You was joking when you said [BLACKOUT]Clark kent/superman stood by and watched his father die without doing anything?[/BLACKOUT]

This could be somewhat of a deal breaker for me.

By 7:00 tonight, I hope I don't start resenting this place.....

You people need to get past how other people view movies. This movie being mediocre has nothing to do with critics or other comic book movies.
It's just tough to make a Superman movie that appeals to everyone.
Get past it. Half of you here were talking about how IM3 was just good popcorn fare, well expect the same with MOS (minus the humor).
Move on to the next Batman reboot and get on with it DC.

I'm telling you as someone who not 24 hours ago was arguing the same point... that's not the case.

Comic book and action it succeeds in blowing stuff up and show iconic imagery from the source material.

That said - as a general movie with drama and emotion - that's where it fails. Don't get me wrong, there's moments of pure gold. I was crying like a baby at one point. But overall - 85% of the movie has no heart and no connection to the character of Kal-ek / Clark / Superman.

If you have nothing good to say then might as well say nothing at all. Because every post you seem to feel the need to bash the film like it kill you family or something worse.

No, that's exactly the scene

[BLACKOUT]Pa Kent tells him not to come to his rescue when a tornado is coming (because he didn't want Clark to use his powers in front of other people) so he stands there and watches him die. I didn't get it at all.[/BLACKOUT]

Damn, i think i'm going to pass on this one.

That doesn't sound like the superman/clark kent i loved growing up.

I don't feel that he has tried to affect me. He posted the review because I asked for it and I appreciate well put opinions, even if I might disagree (or hope to disagree, as the case is now).

I don't go in expecting to see a bad movie because I've seen some negative opinions about it. I might have slightly more reserved expectations but expectations never help and now I have a greater chance of being positively surprised. I still have hopes that I will become more of a Superman fan after this one.

Wow. That sounds just about equally as botched as [BLACKOUT]Uncle Ben's death [/BLACKOUT]in TASM.

How do they keep screwing these things up so royally?

But this isn't your Superman though. I don't know why this film has to conform to what they think Superman is supposed to be.

It's all good, dude. This mindset right here is the reason why Superman will always be second fiddle to Batman. His fanbase refuses to let go of their incarnation of him in their head and are close-minded to the character. Maybe the writers WERE right.

He's too one-dimensional and boring to be considered today's most popular hero and it starts with older fans who refuse to give Superman a back-bone.

It's obvious the split in fanbase when it comes to Supes. He simply can't win from any side of the coin. He's either TOO cheesy or TOO serious. There's no happy medium. Shame.

So now he can't give an opinion?

Giving an opinion is alright. Forcing is down fellow board members throats is another. There is reason people don't have much faith in the film anymore. If everyone where you go people tell you it sucks.

This I believe is why Superman will probably never succeed. Because people have this idea of what Superman is supposed to be and get angry when it doesn't live up to it.

I haven't seen that from Jow over the past few pages that I've read. This is not a critique-free forum...

Maybe people should form their own opinions and not be so sensitive about negative reviews.

I've seen Jow answering questions and comments, not forcing his opinion on anyone...

Which didn't excel in the dialogue department.

Yet was and is still considered one of the best comic books ever. Pretty much everywhere you see David Goyer's name, Batman Begins or The Dark Knight Trilogy isn't far off. He really has been using that to his advantage.
