The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane IX

I don't know why people are worrying about Bane's height, we are seeing filming footage, in post they will make him look taller I'm sure.

I don't think he will necessarily reveal the cover-up. He might not even know about it. After seeing the Dent tribute in the Blackgate entrance, I think Bane tearing Dent's pic is more of mocking him and that he can easily free up everyone that Harvey imprisoned.

I think Bane will know, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if the story is that Bane has been watching Batman for some time.

This is my favourite photo from the new set pics! Hilarious! :funny:

Bane is up in the hiz house.

I want Bane to have a real English gentleman's voice...

:awesome:

''Hello Batman, how do you do?''

I personally have had enough of villains with British accents. Sure hope they go Cuban or Siberian even.

Again, for everyone who's complaining about fans wanting the Luchador mask. Something like above could have worked. Maintaining the faithful Bane look without making him look like a wrestler.

But it's not the imagery Nolan wanted. He clearly wanted to evoke the idea of a muzzled dog.

Knowing how loose and candid Hardy has been in fan picts and interviews, I could just imagine him roaring or snarling at the girls and say some like - "anyone want to go on a date later????"

I think "they could make Bane taller using CGI" is 2011's answer to "they might make The Joker's neck white to give him a permawhite look in post-production."

Well, the only people who are bringing up CGI to make Bane bigger are those who are against it, it's their favourite strawman you see.

i dont think it even needs cgi. just position him on camera in a way that gives emphasis to his size. he looks fine in his full get up.

It's probably nothing, but he appears to be wearing a black shirt under his vest. Somewhat similar to his comic book look.

Of course it doesn't need CGI. The most you need is a big pair of boots, a box, and some creative camera angles. But the apologists bring up CGI because they want you to believe that we are asking for a monster-sized Bane.

I really wish the SHH! boards had a like button! Valid statement is valid

Except it's not valid because people who want Hardy to be bigger, aren't suggesting CGI at all.

the only people who bring it up are people who DON'T want him to be bigger and act as if it's the only way to make him bigger.

Imho, the main point of emphasis should be Bane's intimidation factor, not his size.

For example, Mike Tyson in his prime wasn't the biggest boxer, but he was still intimidating. Hardy can deliver that element no question, and the trailer showed a touch of that in the final shot with Bane advancing on Batman, so I don't think the size should be that big of an issue.

How is it valid? It's addressing an issue that doesn't actually exist.

Are you really saying that no one has suggested making Bane larger in post-production? I could probably quote half a dozen such proposals from this IX thread alone, never mind all that's been said since Hardy was cast.

No no one has suggested using CGI to make him larger

Bane being bigger than Batman is an important part of his character. It's like the story of David and Goliath. Goliath needs to be bigger than David.

Strawmen from those who are against the idea. The only time I heard CGI mentioned for Bane was someone who suggested they give him veins and enhanced muscular definition while under the effects of venom.

Most people are suggesting camera angles and platform boots.

Don't worry guys! They made Joker permawhite in post production, I'm sure they've got Bane under control.

You do realise you're arguing against a viewpoint that doesn't exist? You look like a very silly apologist right now.

But you're right, they do have Bane under control. Take a look at Bane's boots in the set photos, those are some very big heels there. And that's not considering the likelihood of some hidden lifts within them.

the front of his face looks almost burnt in that pic

Not quite my half a dozen, as the thread is new, but still a few...

I have to agree with echostation. But perhaps Nolan will use techniques to make Bane appear bigger?

Worked in 300 with Xerxes. Although, he wasn't sparring with Leonidas.

I don't see why so many people are complaining about Bane's trenchcoat. It's supposed to be early winter and thus chilly. Would make no sense for even one such as Bane to be running around in a singlet. As we've seen from the trailer, the coat comes off. :yay:

And since when has size been an issue with Hollywood? If it was, Elijah Wood would've never been as tiny as Frodo, and Rodrigo Santoro would've not towered over Gerard Butler as the mighty Xerxes. I'm fairly confident Hardy will be the exact size Nolan wants him to be at the end of the production.
