The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane VI

When do they start shooting in Pittsburgh? Isn't it in mid-July? Perhaps Hardy has taken a few weeks/month off while they shoot the other cast members' scenes. Maybe he shot his stuff in May and some in June, and now he's on a break.

Not to me. To me, that particular important trait is that he's musclebound when on venom. Which is illustrated in the comics as him being a giant because it's a more effective visual, since everyone's size is already exaggerated in comic book illustrations. In the film, he just needs to be visually a clear physical threat. And his personality, intelligence and abilities are far more important traits, imo.

Bane is still 6'8 and 400lbs even when not on venom. It cheapens the character if almost all of his strength and size comes from the venom, basically making him some voluntary Incredible Hulk.

Bane is based on bodybuilders using steroids. And in real life, bodybuilders aren't big because of steroids. They are already big, but use steroids to push their bodies even further. Sound like Bane to you? Someone who has already trained themselves to be the best they can be but desires more?

Bane's intelligence is also a very important aspect of his character, yes, but alongside his strength and size. That's what makes him interesting, because he is this big, strong brute who is also very intelligent.

Now I'm not saying that they need to make Hardy look 6'8 and 400lbs. But they need to make him look big, and definitely bigger than Batman. Thankfully, Hardy already said there will be 'trickery' involved. And this trickery might just be getting him a box to stand on.

Hardy was big in Bronson, but still not "Bane-big".

Truthfully I'm more concerned about the fact that he's shorter than Bale. I'm not worried about Hardy's acting abilities, but I have a hard time accepting a Bane who's physically shorter than Batman.

He's got some muscle, but a lot of it is fat too. Hardy even said he put on more fat for Bronson.

So with Bane he'll definitely be more muscular.

It's all about the magic of film. As long as I'm convinced while sitting in the theater with my bag of popcorn, I will be happy. You just have to separate the reality of the actor with his on-screen character. If anybody can do it, it is Nolan.

Actually, it cheapens the character more to suggest his HEIGHT is so integral to us finding him so imposing. I wasn't suggesting he'd be some scrawny dude without the venom. I'm sure he won't be. He'll be a visibly physical threat. That, coupled with the traits that actually make Bane, Bane (his actions, abilities, intelligence) will make him an incredibly imposing force. That's what matters, imo.

This is the "perma-white" argument of 2011 to me.

Weight: 140 pounds (When on Venom; 350 pounds)

i think we'll be getting a 6'2, 200lb Bane when all is said and done.

I'm guessing Bane will be 6'1 and 230 pounds. Hardy is supposed to be 200 pounds at 5'9 for the role. I know he looks as skinny in his recent super market images as he did before buffing up for the role but I'm sure there's some explanation. Or else they wouldn't have portrayed him as a massive sized beast in the teaser image if he's going to end up looking like some lean 180 pound athletic dude.

With the camera tricks and all of that good stuff, he'll probably look as big as John Cena.

Well, I heard he's 5'10 and if he uses 3-4 inch boot lifts, 6'1 and half, plus camera tricks. Cena's size there is good for Bane.

What I'm more interested about is Bane's voice. That's the more uncertain and precarious part of the character.

Yeah, more than that is too much, I cannot imagine a guy like The Undertaker jumping from roof to roof.

So I guess Bane will be like Fedor size but without the body fat Fedor has now, would be more like ...the Pride Fedor or along those lines.
