The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XI

And once again, hey, if I'm wrong? AWESOME. I don't care about being right or wrong or whatever.

I care about what's reality.

If it turns out that Bane sounds NOTHING like what we hear in the video, if Catwoman looks like she stepped right out of a Hush comic book panel then HOO-freaking-RAY. I'll do cartwheels down my block I'll be so happy.

But right now? In this moment of time? Blech.

This guy, he gets it. :word:

I think that's the point some people are missing, nobody really wants to dislike or hate this film. I'm really hoping that it turns out better than what I'm seeing and hearing, no doubt about that. The problem is, alot of us aren't seeing something we like lately. Do we just sit down, shut up and not comment and wait for the film to come out? No. Information pops up and people have the right to comment on it. These people either like it, or they don't. I don't. Just because I may not like Bane or Catwoman, or the direction of this film so far doesn't mean that I'll always feel that way. Maybe things will improve, maybe Catwoman does have a cowl, maybe Bane is better. Maybe they're not. All I know is that, as of now I'm not pleased. I remember when I felt the title was odd, but now Bane, Catwoman and the Steelers take the cake.

Nolan fans would justify it by saying "he wore a pink suit in da comics~!!!" just like they're justifying a Catwoman without a cowl or cat ears.

Heh heh, Rainbow Batman..

Kinda sounds like the sampled voice on this Moby song.

This is what i've been considering, I feel their comments are being overlooked.. and it would be wise to take them into account along with the audio/video.
Yes, but they have all said about the same thing, that Bane sounded like he was gasping for air, and he sounded like an old man. We're all hearing the same thing.

I think they were just stoked to be there.

You, Krim, Jak, and Saint man. It's just...unprecedented.

And all of you guys can attest to me being a diehard Nolan defender. So if I'm not liking what's being given to us, THAT is saying something.

I would have never figured you were a Nolan Defender. :wow:

lol

That's a reasonable post, except for the part about "nobody" wanting to dislike or hate the film. Judging by the backlash against TDK's popularity, I would say this sequel will definitely have a target on its back. I definitely think there are reasons to be concerned, but at the same time I'm waiting to see how it plays out.

As someone who was there, it's unlikely to ever see Nolan messing with this delivery. It is too unique and precise of a performance from Tom. So for those crossing their fingers for something entirely new, I'd say to accept this is what it is.

With that said, I'd still recommend to keep an open mind on it. The voice isn't going to change much from the leaks, but hearing it live I can assure there is an eerie quality to his voice that hasn't been quite captured. Whether you like it or not remains to be seen.

I think so too. The excitement of the moment had them ecstatic(completely understandably, I would have been excited as hell too) and they're looking at it from a bit of a skewed perspective. But, what they've been saying is matching with what we've been hearing. He sounds like a wheezing old British man.

lol

Ha, trust me, he is.......

Yep. And like I've said a dozen times before, I loved EVERYTHING up to a point in this production. Loved Bane/Catwoman inclusion, loved Hardy/Hathaway's casting, loved Bane's look. I defended all of them because I truly, genuinely liked them.

So yeah. Not loving things because I'm a Nolan fanboy, not hating things because I'm a Nolan hater. If I love it/hate it, it's genuine.

EDIT: I even loved everything about the teaser. Even the title cards. Yeah.

Can't wait for people to start defending this... :whatever:

I ain't defendin' this! :funny:

Seriously, that was a big curve ball. I can only hope it sounds better dubbed and as fully intended because this was just goofy.

And I'm one who usually see's Nolan's POV the vast majority of the time.

It's like when Ralph Fiennes redid his stupid "baby Voldemort" voice as Hades in Clash of the Titans.

They did not all focus in on him sounding old and frail. There has been an emphasis on the fact that he came across very unsettling, that he sounded creepy and gave them chills. It has been suggested that listening to it as we have is not quite comparable to what was experienced in person.

I'm sure they were also very excited, and it could have indeed influenced this, but the extent to which it would have is uncertain.

It has also been mentioned that there were numerous takes of this scene... and a couple people have brought up details about Bane's voice that could not be picked up on at all (from what I heard) in the recording. Like the significant hispanic edge to his voice to begin with at one point, which if clearly noticed could potentially change the overall feel of the voice.

Oh, and I forgot to add, another positive thing about all this, is The Joker and I have been seeing a bit more eye-to-eye(not everything). We're cool with each other, but it's been nice to be laughing at the same thing. :woot:

Don't feed the birds
Tuppence!!!!

Ha, and it's "tuppence". This whole time I thought it was "toppins". My childhood has deceived me, once again! :argh:

That is pretty much what I meant, although we can get the basic idea from the audio/video - there are subtle qualities that shape the whole presentation of the voice which are more evident if you were actually there.

I for one like the direction they are taking with the voice from what I have heard, although I know that clearer.. crisper, full on audio would give a more accurate idea of what to expect - and actually witnessing his performance would complete the intended feel. I want to reserve full judgment for when I can experience the whole of his presence, as these things are combined for a reason after all.

At least this is bringing some posters together. All what I can say is, for the first time in awhile, I'm agreeing with most of the people here plus sharing some good laughs.

Yeah,
These threads get so heated sometimes.
It's good that something so ridiculous came along that we can all laugh about.:awesome:

Except for that guy that told me to **** off.:funny:

If anything he sounds funny. Im already sitting here doing impersonations

:funny: he must be mad. Too bad I didn't get a message like that.

I'm not going to say TDKR will be bad, but as of now, my expectations are very low.

-A small Bane
-A "cat-less" Catwoman
-A Bane who sounds like a mentally challenged old man
-An action scene at a football stadium?

Guys, we very well may have the next Spider-Man 3 on our hands.

Yeah I am sure it will be terrible, b/c Sam Raimi and Chris Nolan are about the same.:cwink:

Yeah, your analogy to this old geezer in Poppins was scarily and hilariously accurate. Seriously when I listen to that Bane audio clip I'm imagining this old goat standing there lecturing Gotham.

LOL!!

What the heck did you think "toppins" was? :oldrazz:
