The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XIII

Think about how completely different Bale's Patrick Bateman was from his Trevor Reznik.
Yes, they're different performances for sure, but Bale doesn't seem lost in any of his roles, to me.

He's a fine actor, but I think Gary Oldman is a better character actor.

I think this is probably, honestly the best cast of actors I have ever seen. I've been a Batman fan for about 18 years and Bale and Hardy have been my two favourite actors long before they were linked to Batman. Oldman, Caine, and Freeman legends of the business. JGL is a fantastic young actor and Marion and Anne are as good at acting as they are beautiful. Even if I had minus interest in Batman films, the cast alone would have me on these boards day in day out. Genuinely my dream cast for a Batman movie.

Bale is wonderful at transforming himself into his roles one of the best of his time for sure.

it's not just about transforming. I think the number one task of an actor is to make a character captivating to watch. To make them seem real but also like something you've never seen before. More often than not, Bale's characterizations are boring (Machinist is the perfect example). He nailed it with Dicky in the Fighter. He made him truly captivating.

The reason I say Tom is the best actor on set because he never fails to do this. Every character he plays is fascinating to watch because he charges every performance with a ton of charisma.

Anyway, I regret to burst your bubble, comic book geeks, but Tom isn't getting any bigger. The chemicals he inhales don't affect his muscle size in the movie.

One thing that's really irking me about Bane is (if what everyone's saying is true) that Nolan won't be altering his size/using the chemicals to make Bane bigger.

What is the point in using a character that is known for that, if you're not going to use that? Seems pointless tbh. Could have used somebody else. Hope I'm wrong though.

And you know this how? I hope you didn't paste that picture as proof. Forced perspective, CGI effects, etc. can all make him much bigger. Doesn't take much... same tricks they used with Gandalf and the hobbits.

Nolan probably wanted a smart villain who was capable of breaking Batman both physically and mentally. Bane's actual size may not interest him.

Exactly, plus the few pieces of officially released material show him with a back wider then the hulks and him lumbering towards bats whilst he craps his pants. I very much doubt he's scared of an old man hooked up to an oxygen tank.

But the problem is, from what we've seen in the set pictures... he hardly looks that much bigger/stronger than him. But I'm sure he'll look bigger in the movie (going by the teaser).

And if he isn't going to go with the chemicals/some form of inhalent making Bane bigger... what's up with the mask that has the vent, valves and shizzle? lol

Perhaps the inhalants give him a boost of adrenaline or dull pain. Honestly, Bane didn't look much bigger than Batman in the teaser to me.

With all of the spoilers we've gotten... haven't we got a single one about Bane's mask? lol

The "venom" or inhalent will be a factor in the film or else there would be no reason for Bane to have his mask, now how they execute this onscreen is pretty much unknown at this point which is strange.

We literally know nothing really about Banes character in this film other than hes after Batman and is some way affilliated with the LOS.

To me that was always a corny gimmick to make him appeal to little kids in the comics. The thing that made Bane unique was the fact that he was what Bruce would be in an alternate reality. He was intelligent, strategic, and a martial arts master. Those are the things that I know Bane for. The rest, I could careless about. The point is that Bane should be able to pick Batman apart in a fight. Do you need huge muscles for that? In the real world, size would slow you down and make it difficulty to beat the Batman.

The gas he inhales has a psychological effect.

Do we KNOW he's affiliated with the Los? I mean of course there's a lot of circumstantial evidence, but I don't think we can say for sure yet.

well the mercs he's rolling around with are the LOS. Same exact wardrobe from Begins when Bruce first comes to their temple.

Slippery slope you're going down on. Large stilettos would also slow you down and make it difficult to run, much less fight other opponents. Yet Anne has confirmed she will be wearing them in combat. I find it absurd, but clearly Nolan is not above cutting out the most obvious of impracticalities.

this is true, but we already know Bane won't look any bigger than Buster Reeves in the movie. He's being used for the wide shots. Tom is only slightly smaller than him.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

It's no accident that the first photo of Bane emphasized the size of his back. It's no accident that the final scene in the trailer was shot at that particular angle.

Well said. He'll be huge in the context of the film, i'm not sure what is so hard to grasp about that for everyone, the promotion has already shown us this  And yet apparently many of us are still concluding we'll get a small Bane with an old man's voice and a Catwoman without a Catsuit

his back is not excessively big in the promo pic. looks like a natural size for someone who works out.

like i said, Buster is being used for wide shots. That's the size Bane will be. You can't manipulate size in a wide shot.

You and I must not be looking at the same picture then.

His back seems to go on forever. It's massive.
