I'm just thrilled to bits that we had three consecutive years of Academy Award winning villains.

Anton Chigurh
The Joker
Hans Landa

Three greats .

.... You're gonna have to give me some examples from that film, because I could not disagree with you more. In fact, I laughed. If any of Hardy's performances could go toe-to-toe with Bardem's physical acting in No Country, it would be Bronson.

In any case, thanks for the interview, Raul. So Hardy is ten pounds heavier than he was in Bronson. Bane is going to be beasting.

as an acting student i can tell you that Hardy in Inception is far more worth study than Badem in No Country as far as physical acting goes

far more

Something tells me you're not an actual acting student, and it's not just this post.

Someone's Talli/UUBee-ness is starting to get obvious lol.

10lbs heavier? That extra weight must be the fat he gained, which shows in those shirtless spy pics from the pittsburgh shoot.

Hardy is great in Inception. His role is a gift; amongst all the angsty and conflicted souls, he is just gamely interested to see if the heist can be made to work. I'm not an actor, and I can't say whether it is technical craft or natural charisma that comes into play, but I thought that Hardy's character was the most interesting to watch, followed by Cillian Murphy's.

Hardy had the most charismatic role while Cillian and Marion were the highlights of Inception for me acting-wise. But that's just me. :o

Tom was great in Inception and he definitley caught my eye, but by no means is his performance "amazing" or "brilliant" hes just really good IMHO.

Quoting this for those non-believers.

Hardy: Well, Bronson was fat. Tom Conlon was about replacing that fat with about 14 pounds. It was about stripping the fat down from Bronson. Bane is about putting those 14 pounds back on plus another 10. So we are dealing with minimal sums, but we are still messing around with the system. So, yeah, I do worry about that. Thanks for bringing it up. [laughs]

Once again he's talking about Cicero. Very exciting.

Do you speak Italian?
Hardy: No. I don’t, but I will be. I hope to play Al Capone so I will. So I’m learning Italian.

When is that going to happen?
Hardy: In a couple of years. I’m going to put on a lot of weight for that. I want to play that in Italian.

I've gotten so used to Tom with the weight on for Warrior and now TDKR that skinny Tom isn't my cup of tea anymore.

Sure, it wasn't one of the all time great performances. But he made the very most of his role and, in my opinion, rendered the most intriguing character in the movie. No mean feat.

Is that Collider interview new? I swear I've read it before. Then again, after so many interviews, they all start to sound the same.

Agreed. He did his absolute best with the role he was given and in that respect, he knocked it outta the park.

My mind can't process the idea of an overweight Tom Hardy.

It'll be jarring to see, to say the least.

Hardy's giving Bale a run for his money with the weight fluctuations. But until his pulls the equivalent of what did Bale did in The Machinist (and for that matter, Batman Begins), he won't be the king.

Putting weight on is easier than losing it for most people, Tom's probably one of them.

What Bale did from Equilibrium to The Machinist to Batman Begins was inhuman. He's such a talented and devoted actor. One of the greatest of all time.

Bale is the only modern actor I can think of thats been devoted enough to put his body through complete hell for his roles. Its been up and down as far as losing and gaining weight for him for most of his adult career.

Couldn't agree more!

Christian Bale is acting incarnate.

If Bale does the Michael Mann movie, he'll have to gain weight if they follow the script. Beer gut and all. Now that should be interesting. :hehe:

what does gaining weight or losing weight have to do with acting?

It has a lot to with it. But even if you don't want to count his devotion, are you trying to say Bale isn't absolutely phenomenal?

Yeah, he's an amazing actor. Maybe that's why it saddens me his Batman isn't as good as it could be.

what does gaining weight or losing weight have to do with acting?

It's only a part of acting but changing your physique to personify _______ character you're playing does show an immense amount of dedication for that role.

An acting student would surely know that.
