The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XVII

Yeah, keep Goyer off the dialogue!

I liked "excuse me" in the asylum. In what I can see from back issues, the 70s comics had sarcastic dialogue like that from Batman as well, it was only the 80s that stopped. I like that dark, but dry and sarcastically polite Batman from TAS and the 70s.

I read the leaked Begins script before seeing the movie and I was disapointed at how rushed Bruce's training/travels were in the final movie - there was much more to them in the script - the movie felt like a trailer for the scenes in the script.

I like sarcastic batman! Bale seems to always do it as bruce but never Batman, it would be nice to see him banter a little bit with alfred in the suit sometimes.

This 100%

I don't even know how some of the one-liner cheese in BB can be disputed:

(blows out wall with explosive)
"Excuse me"

"I'll get my car."
"I brought my own!"

"I gotta get me one of those."

"He's driving a large......tank."
"Well at least tell me what it looks like"

"Can you drive stick?"

(Jamaican dude)
"Nice ride."

"Yessss!" (Gordon screaming like a little school girl after he destroys the train foundations)

"It's gonna blow!" (:cmad: We. Already. Know.)

This is just off the top of my head during work lol. I love BB to death, like I said previously, it's the best on screen portrayal of Batman hands down, but as a movie, the whole climax just lowers the grade for me.

It just has a more comic book-y feel to it overall which, I believe, is why the people who don't really like Nolan's direction in the first place, tend to tolerate BB just a little more. It's almost like the first half is the movie Nolan wanted to make, but in the second half he had to start making concessions. But different strokes I suppose...
Yeah theres cheesy one liners in TDK too. Begins did have a few cheesy one liners but most of the movie had excellent dialogue throughout. It just came off as more deep and meaningful to me

:awesome:

Oh that guy and his reminders about the pressure blowing!!! :argh:

I agree about all that frequent fear talk getting tedious. It's like Goyer was afraid we'd forget what the theme of the movie was so every character and their mother had to starting going about fear every few minutes.

tch, I don't remember so much complaining about BB after it got released, maybe because since 2005 the bar got raised so high, BB dosen't look all that anymore. I still tend to take it for what it always was. A smarter than usual superhero action adventure, I can take the cheesy dialogue and the terrible editing aside it still remains one of my favourite films. It's just no use comparing it to TDK because they are wildly different films.

I wonder, considering TDKR is supposed to reference BB quite a bit. If it would put things in a different context...and therefore make the film a little bit more relevant?

I had a dream I was watching TDKR last night. Bruce took a real beating from Bane, who was just so ferocious and totally reckless. I remember being actually scared for Bruce and hating Bane for being so violent, even wincing and looking away every time he struck Bruce.

Stupid to share a dream I know but it captured the essence of what I want from Tom's performance, I want to be frightened by Bane's actions.

There is some cheesy dialogue in both BB & TDK, but it never bothered me that much.

What DOES bother is Katie Holmes horrible acting (her father would be ashamed) and the overly long ferry scene.

Kate Holmes is female Steven Seagal.

who's her father?

She rejected Dark Knight and played in Mad Money with Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah.

It's a play on the BB line from Rachel Dawes to Bruce: "Your father would be ashamed".

Some of the lines in TDK worked perfectly in a fast paced trailer but came off very stilted in the actual movie.

"Then you're gonna love me"

"...live long enough to see yourself become the villain"

Both of these lines were awesome in the trailers but fell flat in the movie, it's like you could have heard crickets chirping in the background right after they uttered these lines.

Maybe because everyone had already heard them, over and over again.

I actually love Batman Begins more than TDK. Not by much, but I really do.

And of course Mask of the Phantasm trumps both.

Agreed. MOTP is the best Batman movie of all time, Batman Begins is the best live action Batman movie of all time.
