I have no problem with hardy's size I accepted it

but the mask is my problem

really?! What's wrong with the mask? I think it looks pretty scary, almost animal like.

i wish it was more like a mask other than headgear/respirator

i came up with this manip a while ago

But what difference would that make from the original? It's just covering up more skin if anything it makes him look less intimidating and more like a ninja.

Legit question btw but what difference does it make to you personally? Is it a comics thing or you just prefer that look?

just to make it a little more like the comics is all, the changes i made would in no way interfere with hardy's performance and just bring it closer to looking like banes mask

But why should Nolan have to make him a bit bigger? Why exactly?

Y'know, maybe I spazzed a little bit and I apologize about that, but as tired as you are of people talking about something being too unrealistic, that's how tired I get with people basically saying "since it's a movie about Batman, everything is already unrealistic."

I wasn't posting back then, but I was lurking, and I don't remember anyone taking any exception to what Nolan was doing. And we had the script so it's not like we didn't know! Then it was new, it was exciting, it was fresh. Now it's like Nolan is purposely trying to create havoc and wreck characters or something, it's ridiculous!

Yeah, the idea of Batman might be unrealistic, but this series has taken a decidedly sober approach to the mythos, and in this series, certain rules and parameters exist. Here, people don't transform into real bats, Crane isn't going to walk around in a Halloween costume, Ras isn't going to live forever, but now Bane is supposed to be this huge wrestler dude? You guys thought he was really going to use Venom and get superstrong? Really?

C'mon man, this stuff's been going on for two films now, I'm just tired of the bs. If Nolan is so terrible, if he's so damaging than fiiiiiiine, we only got one more to go baby! After that, let's get the bright blue tights, let's have Robin run around in green underwear with no pants on and Peter Pan shoes. Let's have it all! But for now, can we at least wait one week before talking about how Bane's size is going to be a disappointment? My gawd....

I'm sorry ya'll, rough day

Hey it happens. It's finals week for me. But to be clear, I'm not saying Nolan's films are complete fantasy. They have a decidedly grounded approach. But they still have that realm of fantasy to them.

And I'm not asking for a comic Bane. I'd like a bigger looking Bane for a few reasons. I'm a theatre major, I want to be an actor, and as an actor you realize how important the "stage picture" is in a visual medium. Film is the same way. It's a visual medium. Heck, sometimes the most powerful scenes in a film are the ones that have almost no dialogue. So the visuals are very important. I like the idea of a physically imposing Bane. Someone who's a good four or five inches taller then Batman and who can loom over our hero to physically manifest the obstacle that Batman has to overcome.

I'm in no way asking for a freakishly large Bane from the comics. Just to make him look imposing next to our hero. The way Darth Vader was imposing standing over Luke. Now, Nolan may do that with camera tricks. The only reason I got involved in this argument is because I saw people arguing that large men can't be athletic. And that's simply not true. Now, yes, you do eventually reach a point where too much muscle mass slows you down and hinders you. But there are people with naturally large frames who are very muscular and athletic. So it's not out of the realm of possibility.

i have nothing against TDKR and i am looking forward to it but i just want to know how does covering scalp take away from the intimidation

jesus, i apoligize

I apologize I didn't mean for it to seem like an insult, There's just something about covering the rest of his head that seems to lose some intimidation.

i figured all the intimidation came from his eyes and the face of the mask

thats why i figured hey is just scalp it does nothing other than grow hair its just there lets make it more mask like

I understand. Guess we'll see next week to get a better idea, but personally, I think performance is the deciding factor. Everytime Agent Smith or Magneto (Fassbender in particular) entered a scene, there was a shifting tone, an ominous tone. Neither of them are anything close to imposing, physically, but the psychological aspect, and the execution were enough to warrant the proper reaction. Even the liquid Terminator, considerably smaller than "Ah-nold," was extremely threatening because he was seemingly unstoppable.

I think just the fact that Bane has the basic skillset of Batman and, presumably, unable to feel pain while under the usage of his gas, makes him quite an intimidating presence.

But then you cover the scars on his head. Not to mention the wrinkles on his forehead, which give more character to the face.

Could be the thickness of the mask you gave him, It might have a different effect if it was the same thickness has the existing mask.

keep in mind its a manip i did its not going to be perfect

and what scars on his head are you talking about boom

(EDIT I SEE THEM NOW)

We have several set photos where Hardy has scar prosthetics near the back of his head.

jesus, i apoligize

Wasn't trying to insult your manip skills. It just reminds of a water polo cap and personally that wouldn't exactly make Bane any more intimidating. Like others have noted it detracts from the effect.

all im saying is there had to be a way to mask the mask work

is my dissaproval of the mask going to ruin the movie for me?? no, im not that childish i will be planted in my seat firmly when the film starts rolling
