The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XX

Keep in mind we've seen subtitles and have heard what others have said what he says, so it's pretty clear to us. Plus from a reporter perespective, the IMAX theater is very loud and the sound effects are even louder. So over what is happening and Bane's voice it would be difficult to understand when you first hear it.

Like Gordon in the teaser. I remember a lot of us were asking what he was saying, including myself. It wasn't until it was explained to me that I could hear it, despite it still being bootleg.

I'm pretty sure if there was no press screening of the prologue, and we all went into see it, we would be debating what he is actually saying. Not only that, IMAX sound systems are different.

Yeah. The only line I didn't catch that well was his line "they expect one of us to be in the wreckage brother" in the prologue.

Yea, I missed that line too. But I got everything else he said without much trouble.

WB probably feels the pressure from everyone about this movie so every little thing will make them panic. They need it to be perfect

My sentiments exactly.

I didn't read any descriptions of the trailer though and could still understand his line.

Bottom line for me is this: If his voice is as audible as it is in the trailer, then there's no need to overhaul the voice. However , if you can't understand what the character is saying through the majority of the film , its not good no matter how you spin it.

Fans may able to except that you can't understand what Bane is saying, but the general audiences won't. You don't want a potentially good film to be underminned because you couldn't understand what this dynamic villan was saying. Odviously, a sentence here and there that the audience can't hear is common, so I wouldn't have a problem with that.

And, to be fair to Nolan, its not clear whether WB's request is for Nolan to make the audio sound a bit clearer, or if they want Tom Hardy to come up with a whole new voice all together. If its the latter, then I can see Nolan saying,"Um...No." There I would agree with Nolan because from the trailer, the Bane voice , when you hear it, is awesome. However , given that Nolan is saying that he'll tweek it , I get the impression that he's just gonna make the voice louder or clearer.

The voice itself is indeed awesome and so is the effect they use on it in general. Probably needs to be a little less modulated in noisier scenes, though.

I think they just need to bring his audio levels up, like vader in star wars. If they have Tom ADR the whole movie (which i'm assuming they did/will) they can definitely highlight his voice by bringing his levels up to overpower any sound effects or background noise

There's some serious haterade going on for TDKR

I work in TV and most of my colleagues have seen it at the Lincoln Square Imax theatre in NYC and they all complained about the sound but not really bane's voice per se but the over all "audio mix"..

I just think we as fan boys and girls need to look at this bigger picture. Nothing but positive reviews on the prologue and trailer. Just an audio problem. No one is "hating" on TDKR

As Ive said before i find it hard to believe that nolan and company listened to the prologue and said : "that audio is done! finished!"

the bootlegs that are floating around are MUCH MUCH easier to understand then what i saw on the screen. I was actually taken aback when i sat in the theatre and couldn't really hear the other characters let alone bane.

Maybe it was just the theatre...

On the flip side, his dialogue in the trailer is very understandable and sounds awesome. If thats his "final mix" audio then WB shouldnt be worried...

Just my 2 cents. Not trying to start a flame war

Meek Mil's "I'm a Boss" featuring Rick Ross should be Bane's theme song after seeing that BAMF walk :awesome: haha

I have a feeling Bane will be mixed among audiences. I don't think he'll get what Joker did. Some will think he's a badass and others will think he's silly because they can't get over his voice.

I couldn't agree more Rag. I think the voice (and now the trailers apparently) is being used as an excuse to insult the film for a few out there. It's a bit mind-blogging to me because I've had no trouble in understanding what Bane says on the bootlegs, and in the theater.

The comments on ComingSoon and Yahoo are ridiculous. I tend not to read any of them because come July those same jackasses will probably be kissing Nolan's behind.

I've been trying to master the Bane voice. It's difficult as hell. I got The Joker's down to a tee, but this is proving a much more worthy adversary.

I wouldn't even compare Bane with Joker. Joker is probably most famous villain all over the world. That's unfair.

I haven't seen the prologue, but I didn't have trouble understanding when "When Gotham is in ashes, then I will let you die" line in the trailer. I think it's odd that an actor can give a good performance even if their dialogue is a bit difficult to hear, just like how Connery won an Oscar for The Untouchables even though his accent was declared the worst ever.

You clearly did...

I missed the first line, I'll admit but it was smooth sailing from there, for me anyways.
