Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin IS Superman - Part 1

I also think the problems with the costume I had, the cape clasps and belt really didn't bother me in action.

I don't really like the cape attachments, but I was surprisingly not the slightest bit bothered by the belt. It looked so thick in set photos, but in the Episode, it actually looked pretty slim.

Also no ones even mentioned the Clark/Jimmy height difference cause it really wasn't a thing in the episode.

The belt looked good on tv. Looked **** in the promo pics.

My only issue with Hoechlin is that he didn't come off quite as authoritatively as he should have in his scenes with David Harewood. Other than that? He was just as good as everyone said he was. He made the episode for me.

I came in to say the same exact thing as far coming off authoritatively.

Yeah, I really wish that they would change the Cape attachments.

On another note, so would you guys say that Tyler has impressed you guys enough to warrant a interest in seeing him interact with Arrow and the Flash someday, if it ever becomes a possibility?

Not sure why Clark should have. They are about equal in powers and J'onn has been in a position of authority for over a decade now. Clark is really
more of a vigilante so is he really that used to being in charge?

Well, like I said, he was everything I didn't know I needed and now I need to see him in EVERYTHING

I'm so happy this Superman exists. Thank you universe :woot:

The cape attachments need to go. They bothered and distracted me in every frame. I dont know whose idea that was and why he didnt simply have the cape tucked into his collar like Kara and the traditional look. Not only is it ugly it makes the costume look cheap.

Other than that Tyler was a great Superman :)

after all the crap early on, glad to see Tyler get a warm reception, same goes for supergirl in general.

And so I wait for the next berlanti thing that hated at the outset or first look only to be well received when they get going.

Not sure why Clark should have.

Because he was supposed to. That's how the character was written to be in that scene.

Clark is really more of a vigilante so is he really that used to being in charge?

I would assume so, considering he had no problem mentoring Kara.

He is the classic good guy Superman. I like Cavil in MoS and BvS, but I do hope for the next movie he leaves most of the gloom and doom behind. May not happen. And if it doesn't, then we have a great Supes on TV again. Now all he needs is his own show.

And as an idea to that, if they ever did a new Superman series, then maybe it should be a prequel series. Like Supergirl, it could begin with her arrival on Earth, but staying in that time frame, thus using the same young actress for Kara. It would also bring us back in the Lois and Clark relationship a good twelve years. And since he stated that Kryptonians age slower, Clark himself wouldn't have to look any different. Just an idea...

hmmmm......that would be interesting.

I'd definitely be down for a Superman show with Tyler.

I wouldn't, because I can almost guarantee they'd **** it up.

Anything will be better than our cinematic Man of Steel. I might start watching Supergirl tonight.

Why do we only get Tyler for two episodes? (It is two, right? Pretty sure I read that somewhere.) He's so good. I think five would work best. Season premiere, finale, a two-parter somewhere, and maybe sweeps. There ya go.

I've said before that if they did a mini-series or TV movie or whatever, it could be a prequel that fills in some of his previous adventures before we meet him on Supergirl (that would be a benefit of having Tyler playing a Superman so much older than himself - he can play the younger version too), so needless to say I agree with you.

I agree as well. But I don't think now is the best time to greenlight a Berlantiverse Superman series because I fear it will overshadow Supergirl. I would probably think Spring/Summer 2018 or Fall 2018 - which would coincide with the Man of Steel's 80th anniversary.

Yes. Right now it's two. There are rumors, though, which suggest he may appear in the crossover, but those are unconfirmed.

There's rumours (although via IMDB so take with a grain of salt) that he will be appearing in two more episodes. Personally after how well he's been received I can see a return happening for sure. I do hope that he gets the chance to appear on the other DC CW shows too.

If they did a mini series or TV movie I think I'd prefer they did a story with him as Superman now. I feel like those prequel elements can be built in later in the show via flashbacks. I actually think flashbacks would be a terrific way of bringing him back for an episode or two aswell.

You mean flashbacks on this show? I'm talking about adventures that had nothing to do with Kara, though. The stuff that made Superman Superman to this world, that made him so revered. He's clearly had a lot of 'em. Hell, I even kinda wanna see their version of his origin (yes, I'm still desperate to see some version of Birthright on my screen someday, and I will grasp at any straw that gives me hope!). Wouldn't seem right to let him commandeer Supergirl's storylines for that purpose, imo.

Also, for the record, I am absolutely POSITIVE we will see him again on Supergirl after these two episodes. "When" may still be TBD, but the way Tyler and the EP's were talking before this aired and how well he's been received, there's no question of "If" for me.
