Ubisoft: Watch Dogs beats out Destiny as fastest-selling new IP in Europe

Activision's Destiny may be the fastest-selling new intellectual property in North America and UK, but the top of the puppy pile in Europe remains Watch Dogs, according to Ubisoft. A spokesperson for the company informed MCV UK of GFK data that indicates Ubisoft's game is still top dog for new IP in the region.

The obvious speculation is that the PC market still dominates most of Europe, and since Destiny isn't available on PC, Watch Dogs being available on the platform likely made up the difference. Despite its critical reception, Destiny has been the top new IP of the year in the UK and North America so far and has pulled in over $325 million worldwide. Watch Dogs (Review)

It isn't a "game changer". But it is still worth picking up I'd say

The game is on sale for 15€, should I?

My intention would be to play a Punisher-like vigilante.

I'll third that.

Really dull story, but I need my achievements so!

I stopped playing about half way through the game because I got bored with the story. After a few months off, I picked it back up and I was glad that I did.

You'd get your money's worth, the game drags a bit in the middle, but you can go around mercilessly executing criminals to your hearts content.

IMO, it's the best Ubisoft game. The only Ubisoft game I truly enjoyed.

So I feel like once I'm done binged playing Assassin's Creed (2 to Origins) and I figure by that time, I'd be waiting for Ac3's ps4 release and Odyssey's price cut. I feel like trying this game? its open world, features third person perspective and I kinda miss playing a present day game and it only has two titles so far which wouldn't be as time consuming compare to playing a handful of Assassin's Creed games.

Is this game worth it? The graphics look good and the Metacritic scores for both game are good enough. How is it compare to Assassin's Creed and Gta like in terms of gameplay and amount of things to do?

Disappointing. Both AC and GTA are better series. I personally thought the first WD was the better game but people liked the second one since it was less serious and more "fun" in terms of tone. Its a sandbox game so there's plenty to do in both. I know WD2 has a 3 hour demo on PSN so just try that out and see if you like it. The two games are standalone so you can play them in any order. There's one character from the first game that shows up in 2 but his first appearance isnt required at all

Just picked this up and I have to say I'm a bit confused with the mechanics. Like I need a week to digest this because I'm getting information overload with what I'm seeing right now. Good thing, some of the controls are similar to the other games I've played before, but right now, I see all these pop ups anywhere I go to and its just a lot for me right now.

This game feels so GTA. Like I expected it because thats what people said, but I didn't know cars have a radio here as well. A lot of the controls are the same as GTA. The graphics of this game is great, but I liked the in-game graphics of GTA V more though the cutscenes of Watch Dogs are rendered better. Since I've only been playing nothing but Assassin's Creed since October of 2018, playing an open world game in a present day was kinda refreshing. I've been waiting for a new GTA game for so long, and this is like GTA Chicago and less trashy. I also like that you can drive and control things in the streets at the same time. That is dope! I also saw some similarities with Assassin's Creed, as the missions really required stealth especially the enemies here are harder to kill when they come in many. So this is like a mixture of my two favorite videogame franchises, so thats a plus for me. And AC is the reason why I played Watch Dogs in the first place because of the easter eggs featured in both franchises.

The side missions of this are quite hard especially when compared to Assassin's Creed. Like I was in normal mode and I was killed most of the time when dealing with the enemies. The thing that made it really hard is when someone calls a police (it is really annoying when someone does that), you are pretty much doomed since you can't leave the mission area to escape from the police without failing it and you have no choice to either wait to die or press restart. The police exactly know where you are hiding and its just not easy to deal with them in a gun fight especially when there's a helicopter. There were a lot of times when I finished a side mission and my heart was beating so fast because it was intense. Even if you leveled up, it doesn't help that much in combat. So I had a lot of trial and error in this one.

My favorite side mission is the crimes detected. Its really my source for Xp and they can be done in a minute. So I always waited for those to pop up. Though when I was above level 40, it kinda got tiring but I had to do them to level up faster. The gang hideouts and ctos towers were difficult especially if the area isn't inside a building because anyone in the street can call a police, but I love when I was rewarded with xp points. The investigations, I found the clues to clear the map though I had to look up online to find the ones that aren't on the map. Privacy invasion was kinda fun, I liked those hacking puzzles. cTos was sometimes challenging but they were kinda thrilling. The QR codes can be frustrating especially when I had to walk really far just to find the right camera. Criminal convoys are probably the hardest and I hated repeating again and again, so I didn't finish one. The fixer contracts are my least favorite, the reward is just money and who needs that when you can just hack in the streets. Half of the mini games were hard. I couldn't really finish the shell game, poker and drinking. Chess was nice. Nvzn was okay. The cash run was unnecessary as there are a lot more sources for money, and I couldn't get the gold star. The digital trips were pretty cool, though I only played them once.

I totally skipped the online stuff and I had to turn off the online mode. It was annoying when some player just popped out especially when I lost. I don't really have the patience and interest to play with online players.

The main story, I didn't really care. The characters look interesting but I had no attachment with any of them even the playable character. This game is really gameplay over story. So I guess that makes the story/characters, the weaker part of the game. The main missions, I kinda avoid them early in the game, simply because some of those missions are quite long and the Xp points aren't that big. The missions are also quite hard and intense and I didn't find them fun. The reliance to stealthing is a bit much as well and that made the game much harder. I prefer doing the side missions. Starting in act 3, I got to level 50 and I already finished the side missions I wanted to finish, so I played the main missions back and back. Even though the missions were challenging and kinda long, I wish there were more missions. When the credits rolled, I felt like the main game was a bit short to me. The side missions were more time consuming.

The map of this game is big but not that big, which is fine to me. The graphics look great, however I don't really like the environment here. Like I prefer GTA V's environment, so I don't really pay attention that much to the scenery. It also reminded me of GTA's Liberty City map. Also after playing lots of Assassin's Creed games, this one is really challenging because the enemies can kill you easily. GTA V is also a lot easier. So there were frustrating times in this game.

This is a good game though the main story just didn't engage me and even though I prefer the gameplay over the story when it comes to video games, story still plays a huge part when I look back to the games I've finished. I love this for the experience, another franchise for me to follow but the main story and the map could have been more exciting. The radio songs are meh. The costumes looked the same. I also think it lacked some fun factor. But I like the game for its hacking. I like levelling up. And the game was kinda thrilling despite being challenging at times. So its a decent game.

I mean, props to Ubisoft for being willing to make new things. At least, I usually get the impression that big publishers tend to do the reverse: take some new project, and fit it into an existing popular franchise whether it fits or not.
