Rushed production mainly, because if they waited for singer, then this movie would have been right. id rather have it 100% right then have it now, but i guess it doesnt matter anymore. Singer leaving is a gigantic part of it though.

i dont understand what the delay with fox was. after seeing all that money x2 grossed and how widely popular it was recieved, you'd think they'd tell singer. "Good job" take a few weeks off .. come back and we'll talk x3" i mean i just dont understand what the big deal was giving x3 the greenlight.

They should have at least recast Cyclops though! What a crock! They were more than ready to recast Storm because Halle Berry expressed not wanting to reprise the role until the last minute. Why couldn't they have done the same for Cyclops?

I think there was alot of internal conflicts between Fox and Singer! Plus Fox delayed X3 until it was too late and Singer jumped ship to go and do SR! After the shock of him leaving Fox suddenly got a wake up call and decided to get back at Singer by getting X3 done and out before SR! Unfortunately if X3 is as bad as some of the reviews have stated then Singer will be the one getting the last laugh b/c it will prove that Fox can't make a good X-men film without Singer and Co.

as big of a fan i was of james. i think id prefer someone else playing cyclops, if scheduling conflicts couldn't bring james back to do acomplete film

however, it looked like cyclops was going to get di**ed over anyway and they will always refer to his scheduling conflict as the reason why.

Wel, I haven't heard too many negative reviews, but as much as a Wolverine fan as I am, I think the character has been stealing the thunder in each of these movies, so much so they should have had a solo Wolverine series of movies to feature Wolverine alone so they could focus more on the other X-Men. In the comics Wolverine too got so popular he began to hijack the story arcs. I believe this is one of the reasons why Wolverine got his own comic series.

They were determined to screw over the character no matter what. I guess he paid the price for being too whitebread and WASPy.

yeah blame it on more time for logan or halle wanting a bigger role or both. scheduling conflicts would've been fixed with reshoots n pick ups. they could've done a number of things but the goal from the get go was to get rid of cyclops asap.

Ditto. Based on Kinberg's comments at Xverse, it sounds like Cyke's fate was sealed before the writing even began. As soon as the execs heard what the plot of the Phoenix story contained, they knew Cyke had to be eliminated to make room for Wolverine.

The fact that Jean's original turn to the dark side was precipitated by her belief that Scott had died....made it all too easy. Kill two birds with one stone.

It definately came down to pushing Wolverine. Nothing else mattered.

I love your definitive statements, as if you have clue one about what went on at FOX. Just because he was off SUPERMAN RETURNS for a month does not mean he fit into the entirety of X3's schedule.

and how do you know it didnt?

From what Kinberg has said, the decision was made to kill him even before he signed on to be in Superman Returns. Who knows, it might even be part of why he signed onto it.

so...........

Killed for the sake of the story and plot, and complete's Cyclops arc

Killed because the story called for Cyclops to be heavily involved, and they couldn't take screentime away from their precious pet Wolverine. So instead they killed off Cyclops and gave his role to Wolverine.

so i take it you voted for the wolverine one?

Ultimatily, it was bad writing. Despite James being unavailable for a good chunk of time, they still didn't have to kill Cyclops off. So that's what KILLED him.

But even if Marsden had tons of time, he still probably wouldn't have been a major role because then we do have to factor in Halle wanting a bigger role and Jackman wanting to feel like he's justifying the fact that he keeps coming back.

psst, heres my little secret *whispers*I...killed...Cyclops..*whisper*
