The Company of Wolves (1984)

What did you think of this one?

The cover to this movie started my love(and fear)of Werewolves. I was really young at the time and with my mom in a local video rental store and saw that cover where the wolf's mouth is coming out of the guy's mouth and was a bit freaked out. :woot:

It was... different. Very atmospheric (sets by way of the late great Anton Furst, may he rest in peace), pacing kinda dragged here and there.

To their credit Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez throw themselves fully into this utter mess of a movie with it's monotonous, over-edited chases and dull, ludicrous plot. The ending only compounds earlier stupidity.

The thing is I think there is a concept within this film that could be used to make a really cool action film when not shot on a shoestring budget in Bulgaria. 3/10

Mystic River

**** me I forget how powerful this movie is.

The whole Selena Gomez as a high tech hacker made me laugh my ass off

I remember John McTiernan trying to get a film made that was pretty much a 140 minute car chase starring Karl Urban or Thomas Jane. I imagine it would be better than what this is.

Raising Cain

WTF. Why did I watch this movie?!! Lol. It was ok, Lithgow is always great no doubt about it

Ok so, who the Hell went and told Uwe Boll he could go and make a decent film?! I really dug this movie. Can't wait to see the sequel

Ender's Game

It cut out a lot from the book from what I remember of reading it but it needed to for being adapted to a movie. There were noticable cuts that make the pace of Ender's training far too fast to be believable and though the CG was fine in most instances it still felt lacking near the end with the Queen.

Overall, it was an okay movie. I'm glad I didn't see it in theaters (aside from the controversy around it) I just would not have enjoyed seeing it there.

:funny: I was just glad they didn't try to make her some tough street kid.

It was with Tom Jane, I think he was getting funding when his wire tapping thing scuppered the project.

I will say that one POV shot near the end where it didn't cut away was pretty awesome...probably the only thing I liked about Getaway.

I felt the same way after watching that. It showed me that Boll isn't as bad as a director as most make him out to be. The problem is that he picks terrible screenplays.

That film is a one time watch for me though. It was a bit too nihilistic and depraved.

Yea I liked it quite a bit actually. The only thing I didn't like was the confliction between what Bill says and what he does. If he feels the way he feels about money then why did he do all of that basically just to rob the bank? In the sequel, he takes over an entire tv studio to "broadcast" his message. I can't wait. But, yea it was pretty depraved. The whole good guy vs bad guy paradigm is almost just completely gone in cinema now. I mean, its still there but American cinema is just obsessed with the "bad guys" now.
