Lautner disapproves. :o

OMG that looks like Lautner, lol very funny and I'm not hating but he is not a good actor. Pattison is pretty decent and Stuart just bores me to tears. I really don't care much for her as an actress but she's decent when directed properly

Not that I think she's right for Carol or whatever comic book superhero character nor am I a huge fan of her's, but IMO, the hate Stewart gets in undeserved. She's great in the indie films like Still Alice or Clouds of Sils Maria. Heck, IMO, she stole the show from Juliette Binoche in the latter.

No hate here. I think I've been pretty consistent in my appraisal of what is needed for this film and that's a STRONG female lead. I'm doing this from memory, but, on this list, I think the best actors are (not necessarily in this order):

Charlize Theron
Emily Blunt
Jessica Chastain
Kate Winslet
Rosamund Pike
Natalie Dormer (probably able to take this on??)

That's not to say each would be right for the role (but not saying each of them couldn't do it either).

Pike has probably gone up in my estimation. I don't think Stewart has a prayer of pulling off a role of this nature.

Natalie Dormer has such a twisted smile/ smirk that she looks immediately more like a villain or bad girl. She doesn't strike me as Carol at all. She'd be good as Moonstone though, which would be a far more suitable role for her.

Maybe not. I thought she was pretty good in some of the HBO stuff I've seen her in. The thing about good actors is that they can surprise you when given the opportunity. I would not have thought there was ANY WAY IN THE WORLD that Heath Ledger could have done the job he did as Joker and I think we can all pretty much agree that was stunningly good work.

What do people think about my appraisals of the women on our voting list? Have I missed anyone who should be in (or above) the group I mentioned? (Gina Carano :cwink: )

Dormer might be able to surprise us with her acting, but she's not going to be able to surprise us with her face. She's not changing that twisted smirk anytime soon.

:lmao:

Dormer has already appeared in the MCU.

So, maybe Moonstone is that Army chick's granddaughter...?
or, maybe people wouldn't even notice, because she had 2 lines and a retro outfit/haircut

either way

But people would have noticed the smirk!!

Just kidding. I agree, her role in Captain America wasn't large enough to rule her out of a more substantial one in the MCU. It was about the same level of screen time as Enver Gjokaj's in The Avengers, and now he's currently doing good work on Agent Carter as a completely different character.

That said, I also agree she'd make a better Moonstone than Carol.

They've secretly already cast Dormer as Carol and her appearance in Captain America is because they're going to loosely adapt In Pursuit of Flight and she wants to make out with Cap after being sent back for some reason. :o

Emily Blunt seems the most likely choice, but I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Dormer get it.

wait, he was in Avengers??

point proven I guess!...

and hell, I didn't even realize Dormer was in Cap til somebody here mentioned it

I post this in another thread but since you're talking about Dormer here...

Doxie Dormer

I know. She almost got Cap shot by Carter. I doubt she'll be cast, but if she were, I don't think it would be a big deal. Her role was just a step up from minute (my-nyoot). They could do like Peter Jackson and just make stuff up. Carol was her grandparent or great grandparent or whatever........

EDIT: I should have read down further before posting. As usual, I have nothing new to add......except for some snide reference to Peter Jackson....

Uh......I might be missing something, but I don't think that's an entirely unattractive, twisted, smirk. :shr:

That's because that's an atypical picture of Natalie Dormer.

She looks more typically like this, especially in live action:

I still have hope that Rachel Nichols gets the role. I think she'd be perfect, especially as Continuum is ending after season 4.

I also like the fact that she is mentioned in the trivia section for GotG on IMDB:

"Olivia Wilde turned down the role of Gamora, while Gina Carano, Rachel Nichols and Adrianne Palicki auditioned before the role went to Zoe Saldana. "

So she is on Marvel's radar, and Adrianne, and Zoe already got roles...

Is there any way to add her to the poll so I can vote for her?

Nicholls can't really act though. You need a strong actress for a role as cool as carol

No offense, but she looks very unhealthy in the second pic.

 You're talking about the 2nd pic with the brown dress? How does she look unhealthy there? Out of those 3 pics she looks the most vibrant there.

Only two pics show up on my screen and there is no brown dress among it. If he's talking about the teal one, then I get that
