No joke, I think it's probably a done deal. Been saying that for awhile.
Why is Steve smiling? what is Carol telling him?
Pretty sure she whispered "Hail Hydra" there.
In other news, Rosamund Pike was there as well and looks just as amazing. She's another one that I strongly support for Carol.
Oh also
I've seen pages of people saying "Blunt woulda been a better widow" "wish blunt was natasha" etc
What about Emily Blunt screams Black Widow to everyone here??
She's not a redhead, never played a spied that I can think of, and doesn't have a particularly tough-chick look to her like I would typically picture BW, and her acting prowess means she could pull off anyone else equally as well.
So what precisely makes her so well qualified for Natasha as opposed to carol?
honest question, not being defensive or anything

Well, natural hair color is virtually irrelevant (or else Scarlett Johansson would be excluded). To me, she has a face that resembles Natasha in the comics - at least the versions I'm familiar with, such as the way Joe Quesada drew her in Guardian Devil.
In addition, I don't think she should look like a tough chick. To me, that's not what Black Widow is about. Instead, she should look like someone who is flexible, sneaky, acrobatic, etc. I think she'd be a fine Carol Danvers (so my thought that she would be a great Black Widow isn't "as opposed to" Captain Marvel), but Danvers is someone you want to be a tough chick. She's a lot more bold and straight-forward. Although I describe her tentatively since I'm nowhere near as familiar with her.
EDIT: Read closer....gotcha. I just think that Blunt is such a good actor, with so much range, that she can play just about anything.
I don't disagree with that. I think she'd make for a good Carol Danvers. I also think Johansson made for a good Natasha Romanoff. I just think Blunt would have made for an even better Romanoff. I don't know why people seem to think praise for Blunt as making a great Black Widow means that I'm implying she would be a poor Captain Marvel.

I could not agree more!I actually never pictured her as Black Widow. I think it's got as much to do with her acting style, which is great and acclaimed, and that she should really play someone where she can play a whole spectrum of emotions. I think Scarlett works so perfectly in the role b/c her "innocent" demeanor turns icy/sultry/aloof/mysterious when necessary, and she just comes across really well as a stone-cold assassin whose allegiances remain mysterious. Widow should have a twenty-four hour poker face, IMO, that only crumbles around a very, very select few people. Which was why SJ and Widow were so darn effective for me in TWS; all the private moments with Steve Rogers brought out her vulnerable, playful side while she remained impassive with others. Scarlett played each side of Widow perfectly.
That all said, I think Carol Danvers (Or Jessica Drew or Jennifer Walters) is a much better suited role for Blunt, where she can play a wider range.
Just the thought of her playing Carol...So Kristen Stewart is pursuing a role in the MCU - specifically in Captain America.

It had better not be for Carol Danvers.![]()
Every actor says that they would be willing to play in a Marvel film, it's not a big deal.
