Who here actually believes Venom will be "IN" the movie.

I believe that Venom will be in, but in truth I actually hope that he will not be in. If at all just as a set up for another Spider-Man Movie. Having 3 big villains in a movie is just too much.
agreed

I'm actually kind of torn on the subject. I know that venom has been confirmed multiple times, but i'm worried on his screen time. The way its looking and from the stuff I've heard it only seems that venom is going to be around for one "final" battle at the end. this isn't working for me. you can't do venom (who i consider one of spider-man's greatest, if not THE greatest, villians) justice with 10 min of screen time.

On the other hand, in the past two movies we have seen some sort of a cliff hanger. Spider-man 1 had Harry bent on revenge for his father's death. Spider-man 2 had Harry finding his father's lair. Why not keep with tradition and have a "Venom shows up" cliffhanger at the end of Spider-man 3?

Anyway, unfortunately, Venom is going to be in Spider-man 3 and I don't think he will be used in any further SM movies.

My dream scenario for Venom in the film is this: Eddie (not MJ, for once) is being threatened by one of the villains at the end of the film.

Eddie's dropped from a bridge, or a cliff, or whatever - and Spidey can't save him. He lands, breaks his neck, is lying there dying - and then the symbiote crawls over there and saves him.

In the last minute of the film, we get ONE, PERFECT, GLORIOUS shot of Venom in all of his ghastly might (the teeth, the tongue, the "we hate Spider-MAAAAAN!"), and then -snap- the credits roll! Venom for 4!

you mean the symbiote would heal him completely
Sure, why not? He makes Eddie stronger and gives him powers. The saving of Eddie's life would also bond them together more.

Nope. Brock maybe, symbiote perhaps, no Venom.

Maybe ONE shot of Venom at the end - otherwise there'd be rioting.

maybe but it should be real quick
Agreed - don't give everything away, but leave the audience with a taste of what's to come.

yeah because if they showed venom now hed look different to when number 4 comes because of the improvement of cgi

I think there will be a cliffhanger, why stop now.... I just don't think it will be one of Venom, I really see a cliffhanger involving Connors and the Lizard.

Ok, we got the storyline of Sandman, his origin, and eventually his fight against spiderman. We got Harry and his transformation into Goblin, then his fight with spiderman. Or maybe Sandman and Goblin team up to fight spiderman? thats another storyline. We got a new love interest in Gwen Stacey, and a jealous Mary Jane Watson. We have Eddie Brock.
Now how in the world could you fit Venom fighting Spiderman in this movie?
My prediction is that Eddie Brock has a small role in SM3, eventually finding the discarded symbiote suit at the end of the movie. Thus the big teaser for SM4.

.

sorry guys.. but im really thinking venom and sandman are the 2 villains.... with harry slowly turning into the GG and at the end he ends up saving peter (ala spec #200) this is the "half" villain we heard about in reports... because like ock GG will save the day, and unlike ock, thats very in character of harry since he did do that at the end in the comics

Actually, I'm thinking Venom will be the "half villain", since he'll be Eddie Brock for most of the movie. I think the main villains of the story will be Sandman(a given) and, in a smaller role, GG2. I think Eddie Brock will be presented as more of a nuisance for Peter rather than a villain, but grows steadily more hateful towards him. Only near the end will he become a true villain. And I think they're going to start and finish the Venom business within this film. As others have said, they want to provide closure with this one.

I personally don't think Venom needs an entire movie. The way they're handling him in this one is perfect for his type of character. He's not the kind of villain who can hold an entire movie. In the comics, they've had years and years to flesh him out and show the different sides to him, but with film they don't have that luxury. He's going to come across as little more than a weird alien monster, and it would take an entire franchise of his own before you could start to shake that image. Now that "weird alien monster" type of character makes a fine bad guy for horror movies, but for movies like Spider-Man, the villains have to be more humanistic in order to be interesting for long periods of time.

I hope he is but I'm not sure I believe. Like people have said many times before I hope you just get a quick glimpse of him at the end (perhaps just his teeth and eyes in the darkness) as a cliff hanger to lead in to SM4 where FX technology will be advanced enough to do him justice.

ummm ya, u dont know venom very well... even the cartoon panned the "symbiote" and venom saga for several episodes. its a very complex story

sony wouldnt spend millions for a symbiote costume, and his webbing if they were just going to use it for a cliff hanger:o

Exactly, the cartoon. In a cartoon, things can work just like they do in the comics because it's essentially the same. The cartoon can be just as exaggerated as the comics and still work. But when you're dealing with a live action film, different rules apply.

in some ways yes.. but im sorry but venom is going to be rushed.. and a much different version of Venom... definately not the venom nor the story we know

It's a little late for people to still be in denial about Venom, Thomas Haden Church, already talked about a scene with VENOM in it. It's time to put this baby to rest, he's in the film, period.
