The Dark Knight Rises Why is everyone slamming TDKR? - Part 1

Wait, so now I'm mandisab? Because I agree with a post, I'm hoping for mandisab to log in and reply.

I'm not an Administrator because of my good looks.

I have been doing this for ten years. I checked your IP# (internet provider number)...the only person it linked you to was mandisab. Out of the thousands of possible SHH posters you could have been linked to...it linked to the newly banned guy that you, the brand new guy, is talking about.

So yeah. You are mandisab. Just wanted to see if you would come clean about it.

Hes actually my brother lee. Now why can't he post? Ohh because he got banned forever, now it wouldn't be fair for him to get banned and other to roam free using the same tone right? Ten years don't mean anything if you have that power and don't use correctly. But if you feel like it you can take me out of the picture with no explanation as well.

And if you don't think I'm appropriate for this thread by all means just band me too I promise you won't be detecting the ip again. Too bad because we do enjoy talking about this trilogy and reading about it but the bashing is not enjoyable at all.

And I bet your dog ate your homework.

Now why can't he post?
He was banned for trolling.

Ohh because he got banned forever,
Yep.

Right.

You are so right.

But if you feel like it you can take me out of the picture with no explanation as well.
Ok.

Don't bring me to your side, please.

I felt a dark presence just now about to grasp unto me...I think I need to talk to a priest.

It's pointless for me to jump into this argument but I feel mandisab did not deserve to get banned. Nor his counterpart. I didn't read anything he posted that should lead to him getting banned. I see some favoritism here and it's not cool.

We should definitely count the dialogue as part of the fight as that's the winding down of the battle, because if not, you could say the final Batman/Joker fight in TDK is only 40 seconds long, lol.

Stating the obvious (again) here, I know, but the exchange between Bane and Batman before the 2nd fight still irks me a bit. What may be surprising is that it's not actually Batman's line that annoys me - it's a decent line, captain obviousesque true, but it does its job - it's the way their exchange is shot. I mean, I can understand why they stop when Bane delivers his line, but then they just stand around, looking like doofuses, waiting for Batman to deliver his line. I think that if they had shot the exchange from a different angle, it's pretty likely that some people wouldn't have complained about that exchange so much.

That being said, I still really enjoy the 2nd fight, especially when 'The Fire Rises' motif starts playing. True, I would've preferred the fight be a little bit longer, with Batman entering the scene via a glide from the Bat, kicking Bane on the way down, but I'm just being picky at this point. :woot:

They were just admiring eachother's eyes when they were standing there :funny:

Also, I really wonder what Bruce thought would happen if he defeated Bane in the sewer anyway. It's like, there's still a whole army down there waiting to open fire on him even if he does. Not to mention all those charges were already rigged and someone else had the detonator. He had absolutely no chance the moment that gate slammed shut. I really think he was ready to go out in a blaze of glory down there.

Nice way of looking at the whole situation.

Clearly. :o

So many reasons for TDKR sucking, but there is simply 2 main ones that are irrefutable:

1) There was no Batman to speak of in this movie.

2) There was no Bruce Wayne to speak of in this movie.

The characters were warped and twisted to the point of no return, as opposed to the last two movies which walked the fine line. This movie crossed it.

Once you take away Batman's intellect and turn him into a common street brawler, he is no longer Batman.

Once you take away Bruce Wayne's kind and caring heart in favor of recluse who doesn't give a **** about Gotham, charities, or his own employees, he is no longer Bruce Wayne.

In the first fight Batman tried to beat Bane in a fistfight and lost badly. Bruce had no fear and nothing to lose, in a way. He was reckless.

In the second fight Batman is more focused. He does stand toe to toe with Bane at moments (e.g. when they interlock fists). However, Bruce is smarter there and realizes he needs to exploit Bane's weakness rather than just trade blows.

He overcomes Bane by being a little smarter and a little more tactical.

Tactical?

These are two highly trained Ninja's fighting like street brawlers.

I have extensively talked about the ending twist with Bane and Talia in other threads, but one thing that destroyed the ending for me - and that is more a personal opinion than anything else - is Bruce Wayne's destiny.

No matter what, who or how, Batman might always pursue happiness, dream about a normal life and finding love. But in no way I can accept that Bruce faked his death, allowed everyone believe he died so they can honor him forever, and lived sipping coffee with his girl forever after.

Not only is bad to fool people (once again), including his own butler (sure he later knew the truth, but for a man in his 80's to have let believe the only living Wayne, his almost son had died was pretty cruel) into believing that he's dead, but I consider it's totally against nature to give Batman a happy ending and so early in Bruce's life.

I feel like Nolan was trying to overly humanize Bruce Wayne way beyond what anyone else has done to the character in any other film. That's either a good thing or a bad one depending on who you ask. For me it didn't work because I just don't connect to the Bruce Wayne character like I do Peter Parker for instance.

It made me think of Skyfall. James Bond gets the chance to disappear, but soon afterwards he feels uncomfortable, he misses the emotion, the excitement.

I feel Batman like Hamlet, or any tragic figure. He either dies or gets an heir to his mission.

In polls...it always beats the avengers and batman begins, so whenever I see hate I don't really pay attention. That on top of the great reviews from critics and fans and the fact that I do not know anyone who didn't like it. People complain about the Avengers too...doesn't mean it was generally badly received.
If anything TDKR was received waayy better than IM3 and most of Marvel's other films.

Really? I found that interesting as personally I find BB and The Avengers to be way better than TDKR.

I wonder what I have been watching all this time whenever I popped in TDKR in my Blu-ray...

You know, that pause of Bane and Batman infront of city hall...would be the beginning of a porno, haha.

I'm not exactly TDKR's biggest defender but I don't think it's fair to say that Bruce doesn't give a **** about Gotham. Part of the reason why he became a recluse was because he can't be Batman anymore and he can't help Gotham as Bruce Wayne (failed energy project). If anything, he was all about Gotham. The guy pretty much gave his life for Gotham.

"This city needs me."

"I do fear death. I fear dying in here while my city burns with no one there to save it."

"You don't owe this people anymore. You've given them everything."
"Not everything. Not yet."

Can't believe the bat forums are still going strong. Commitment.

The movie isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It was however coming off the greatest superhero movie of all time... TDK, not the Avengers. So there's no way it was ever going to get close to the reviews and feedback it deserved.
