WW Composer Thread

Not familiar with his work but he's a protege of Zimmer's so I'm not expecting anything that distinguishes it from previous DCEU scores (by Zimmer and co.), which haven't impressed me. It'll probably be more of the same.

So awesome, then. :o

Zimmer's music for WW is the best thing he's produced in awhile.

I'm not a huge fan of Zimmeresque music in general but I'd love for the DCEU to stick with it for the sake of continuity. One thing that bugs me as a film score fan is how the MCU is all over the place and changes composers every other day.

They seem to have rectified that with getting Alan Silvestri back for the two Avengers films. Very surprised, what with the Russos using Henry Jackman for their previous two films.

yeah that's a step in the right direction

Jackman's music was just awful, his theme for Winter Soldier will just make your ears bleed

I love Jackman's work on the Cap films. Probably my two favorite scores in the MCU. "Taking a Stand" being my favorite track. I just wish he'd let Cap's hero moments linger a little longer. The score when Cap takes down the jet in TWS is :hmr: :mrk: :awesome: but its over way too quick.

I'm not familiar with his work at all, so hopefully he knocks it out of the park.

Rupert Gregson-Williams has worked with Hans Zimmer and his brother Harry at Media Ventures, so I expect WW to have a similar sound to that in MOS and BvS.
Just hope he keeps musical continuity with BvS. The trailers are a good sign - WB seems to know "Is She With You?" is Wonder Woman's Reeve Superman theme in terms of being iconic.

The music in the first trailer was pretty cool. But the second one took a little while for it to grow on me. But now I love it. Don't know whether it'll be in the final cut or not.

Tina Guo is great at the WW theme. But her Facebook page does start getting a bit mundane, telling us what she bought on Amazon and other trivial things.

Hopefully the WW theme gets a more of an orchestrated version in this film. That guitar version is very inappropriate for WW & doesn't fit the period of the film.

As for the score itself, I'm not expecting anything special. Mostly RC noise with maybe a good theme or there.

Patty said in an interview that Rupert didn't just slap the WW theme at every opportunity, but seemed to imply that he developed it for different phases in the film (ie different versions when she's a girl and when she's a young warrior).

I'm not the biggest fan of that theme, but that's good to here. As someone who's fan of film music, variations & theme development is very important.

I love it when composers do that. You really get a better sense of where the character is in their life. In Star Wars for example, John Williams never hits you over the head with the full Imperial March in the prequels in relation to Anakin because Anakin isn't Vader yet, but we do get hints of it because he's on his way there.

It's not a guitar. It's an electric cello. Tina Guo is a cellist. And she can just as easily play it without her distortion pedal on.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. The movie based on the DC Comics character tells the story of Diana, princess of the Amazons, who trained to be an unconquerable warrior. The action adventure will be released nationwide on June 2. That version is played during the Warehouse fight scene. They showed it at Wonder Con

Can't wait to hear this soundtrack. The WW theme is really catchy.

I'm pleased WB is doing a pressed CD release, you don't get that often. Most of the time their soundtracks are downloads or on-demand CD-Rs.

Rupert Gregson-Williams doesn't have an Oscar to his name or a devoted following like Zimmer has. So hopefully, WB really liked what he did with the score.
