I was hoping for the box office to be a success to make Fox want to make another x-men movie. Deadpool and Wolverine are fine but I'm more of a fan of X-men movies. Now my dream for X-Men 7 is gone. There's no way the Studio would want to spend money to make another x-men movie again.

It would have to perform like Fant4stic to kill the series. If it disappoints, the next X-Men movie will be pushed back in favor of Deadpool and other X-properties.

A smaller budget movie without destruction porn and with a more personal story seemed the way to go regardless of how this one preformed.

So this opened with $4.8 million in Australia? Thats another big drop from DOFP's opening weekend when it earned over $7.7 million.

That was already going to happen.Next X-men film isn't coming most likely till 2020 with wolverine solo film,Gambit,Deadpool Sequel,New Mutants,and X-force coming in 2017-19.

It's just that Fox will be disappointed with the x-men cause Deadpool without the China market made a total of 763 millions worldwide. If X-Men Apocalypse doesn't surpass Deadpool it will be a major disappointing for Fox cause this movie had China and was PG-13.

The only way for Fox to be happy with the numbers for this movie is if it makes 800 millions. But with only 100 millions on its first weekend it doesn't seem like it will progress that much. I can see now this movie making only 500 millions worldwide.

I think Gambit will be canceled. The New Mutants feels like it will be released only 3 years from now. And X-force I'm guessing it will depend on the success of Deadpool 2.

I'd say New Mutants for 2018 and X-Men 7 (?) for 2019. I also expect Gambit to be cancelled. Wouldn't really care too much personally either.

nah i think it will be 2020 with X-force coming out in 2019.X-force is in early stages of being written.no such movement yet for next X-men film.

I doudt they cancle gambit.Fox wants more films in shared universe not less.
they are probally rewritting script to cut down the budget.

This. I hope this happens. Singer did an amazing job with the characters in the early stages, but as someone else wrote the superhero genre has outgrown him. Need new blood.

its probably a good thing the movie is underperforming because this will get ten to get rid of Singer. I dont want to wait until 2020 tho. Not interested in xforce, new mutants, etc.. I want a real Xmen movie with someone else directing it.

if it makes 750 million WW Fox will be thrilled.

DOFP made 747 Million WW and deadpool 763 Million WW.

Fox would view without original cast 700 million and up WW to be a success.

Yeah... How can it be on track to make more or equal DOFP when it's coming in lower almost across the board.

$650 seems more realistic. And even then, with the legs this franchise has...

XMFC barely made any money and we still got a sequel.

A 102 million overseas hull after this weekend is good compared to the trashing some critics gave apocalypse.and not having original cast in it except for certain cameo was always going to affect BO.

The wolverine only made 132 million domesticly In 2013 yet we are getting next year another wolverine solo film and a much risky r rated one at that.
of course it helped that The wolverine made 282 Million Overseas.
Foregin box office was partly why fox did a sequel to first class in first place.
