Yeah... How can it be on track to make more or equal DOFP when it's coming in lower almost across the board.

$650 seems more realistic. And even then, with the legs this franchise has...
Well the big territories are to still open and I guess it could surprise. But I expect it to make less domestically. Right now, I'd say $650,-700m seems reasonable.

i expect it to do lower i am looking forward to this movie but it just didn't have the hook of DOFP - 2 casts coming together, hugh jackman leading the film, time travel, sentinels, etc.

Hearing a lot of Singer in every thread... I can't judge him until I watch this, but man, I'm probably going to be ripping him in less than a week I feel. I have a lot of respect for him, but he's always flirting with greatness and mediocrity. Can't get over that hump. Such a frustrating thing in any line of work.

He's a great director. X2 is still in my top 5 superhero movies. And the first X-Men is def. in my top 10.

However, I just think it's time for newer blood without his influence over the product. Now, I know that's how we got Last Stand...but I still think it's the way to go.

I like Singer but the recipe needs to change.

Been saying this for a few years now. I had hopes of Apocalypse shaking things up and doing something different, it appeared from the trailers to be the biggest X-men movie yet in terms of story and scale, but the fact that they apparently are just hitting all the same beats again is disheartening. Seriously, I feel like they've re-made the same X-men movie 5 or 6 times now.

For me Kinberg would need to go before Singer. Singer is a great director but needs a decent script to work from as well.

Also, changing up some of the cast and characters might also be an idea, Beast, Mystique and Magneto could do without being seen for a movie or 2.

You have to see the movie first. Don't judge from the trailers. The movie is so much better.

To be honest I'm not surprised with the Aus numbers compared to DoFP. There was like no marketing done here. Compared to DoFP. I saw one spot a few weeks ago and there was a Quicksilver ad for the V energy drink and that's it. Also they never played the 3rd trailer in front of any movies which showed Hugh's Wolverine which would have made more Aussies go out and see it.

Deadpool, BvS and CW all had a big marketing campaign here.

-Set it in the present
-Hold off on Magneto (and I say that as a BIG fan of Magneto)
-Even out how much you give each character to do. Don't just make it Wolverine and the X-Men (and I say that as a BIG fan of Wolverine)

Those would be key things to do in the future

I keep hearing, the franchise need to change but ...
Between Wolverine 3, Deadpool 2, New Mutant, Gambit and X Force, you have already have an evolution.

Beside, the next movie could be X Men in space in SPACE + TV Show (Legion and Hellfire). The future is already great.

Deadpool movies are set in the present. X-Force will be your present day movie. You can still have Bobby and Rogue show up if that's the direction they go in, or even the OT cast as their older selves. You can't just movie Sophie Turner's Jean Grey into 2017 or 2018. That would be so stupidly ridiculous.

Just take a break and let this cast age up a bit. These kids need to grow up a little, as does McAvoy quite frankly. Given the poor BO performance we are expecting, I think it's likely Fox sits at least 4-5 years before the next traditional X-Film.

I don't think New Mutants has any box office potential. The new version of Colossus can't carry an X-film as a leader. If they can get Marsden back to lead the team, I think fans would be interested, but still a long way before the GA is interested in a project like that, especially if we are fumbling with the "A" team in Apocalypse.

Gambit? We've heard nothing.

I'll believe X-Force (or New Mutants or Gambit) is happening when I see it.

New Mutant: leaning towards horror and the supernatural
Wolverine 3: futuristic western
Deadpool 2: action comedy
Gambit: I don't know
Legion: Breaking Bad style
Next X Men: could be space opera
X Force: mercenarie

Evolution is already here.

PS: You don't need a big budget for New Mutant and it seems fast tracked by Fox (director, casting, script). Maybe, they could change the timeline if XA is disappointed but New Mutant could be safe.

I'll go in with an open mind. Considering how low my expectations are at the moment, I don't think it'll take much to please me. However, I've been complaining about how the X-men movies have been jogging in place for years now and the fact that I'm hearing this exact complaint about this newest installment from multiple sources worries me.

Yup.

I'd rather see all of those happen and not be bogged down by the previous 2 continuities

I'd say New Mutants for 2018 and X-Men 7 (?) for 2019. I also expect Gambit to be cancelled. Wouldn't really care too much personally either.

i dont care about a Gambit movie either unless they explore his origins fully and correctly and they decide to bring in Storm since she has history with him. I guess it would have to be a young-child Storm like in the comics.

New Mutants is def happening. Theres no up in the air regarding that at all.

Seriously, it's only fair if i judge Singer and his performance after i see this film. But till i do im going to defend him. There have been enough great reviews for me to think ill love this movie. In 5 days ill be able to defend him more than i am now. I'm seeing a lot of loud hate of singer from people who also hated DOFP as well as hate Apocalypse.

Would be better to bring Rogue instead of Storm.

Preach I hate bandwagoners...:whatever:

Only if you change the DoFP to today's exchange rate. Apparently it is 15% behind in actual cash.

It will do my prediction of at least 700 million worldwide. Yes, below DOFP but i never expected more even if this was at 91 at RT like DOFP.

Maybe my expectations were low, i guess it all depends on what the Studio expected. And i don't we will ever know what there expectations were. I guess if you believe the studio expected it to make a billion and it only made 650-700 million then it's a disappointing. I don't think the studio expected that though.

The studio expected over 800m. That is what the budget itself says. You don't pay 235m for 700m. That paying dollars to make pennies.
