Apocalypse X-Men: Apocalypse Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 2

I think it will do a little more that first class domestically total overall. But hey First Class got a sequel.

First Class also had excellent reviews. And FOX held the "Let's bring back the very popular OT cast" card still in their back pocket.

FOX can't abandon franchise, as Disney will surely do with Alice, but it will be interesting to see what they do for the follow up. I'm leaning against 90s era X-Men in Space and toward New Mutants and X-Force in a present day setting.

Funny thing about new mutants is that we would have to believe new mutants will make more money then an X-Men team movie, if it's set in present day that will obviously bring in the audience right? Well technically it won't make a difference but Yeah.

Fox would be abandoning X-men to concerntrate on the yet tried and tested unfamiliar new mutants series.

Just reboot or at least set a new X-Men team film in present day.

Fox won't be rebooting anytime soon, truth be told rebooting won't change anything, the next film either reboot or not will have the same impact

They are not rebooting these numbers aren't that bad to do so, I'm not sure why people keeping saying that it's not going to happen their either going to the 90s with the same characters or finding a way to bring them to present. It's not being rebooted also the time frame dosent make a movie good or bad that's a very crazy statement. If it's bad it's bad in the past or the present. The issue is they need new ideas on the franchise simply, it makes no difference whether they are in the past or present.

I think they have learned their lesson from ASM and Sony. Rebooting doesn't necessarily solve your problems. And it is far too early to start painting this as a doomed movie.

Well Im not saying reboot just because of Apocalypse. Ive been saying it for a while. I dont think you should reboot just because things are going poorly. IF it makes sense within a franchise I think it's the move. I think the time is right.

Honestly. I think is a waste of time to make a New Mutants movie when there's so much what they could do with X-men movies.

I think if they intend to catch up with modern times before I die they have to hurry.

X-Men Apocalypse is in the 80s
X-Men 7 90s
X-Men 8 00s
X-men 9 10s
X-Men 10 20s

They have so much good stories. Personally I think Apocalypse should have being 2 movies.

Do the Phoenix Saga in just one movie will be a huge mistake.

Singer got arrogant due to much confidence the Studio trusted on him.

He has a chance to make it up if he does an extended version of X-Men Apocalypse for dvd.

The haters are complaining of the lack of screen time for the other horsemen. We need more scenes for the motivation for Psylocke, Storm and Angel. Angel was captured by the humans and used as a fighter in a ring, I get that. Storm was poor and maybe felt those in power didn't care for her, but what about Psylocke? She used to work with Caliban but why would she want to cleanse the world?

I havent seen the movie (either seeing it at in 30 mins or at 1115. But why do you say Singer got arrogant?

I wanted them to reboot back after X3 but with what there doing now I'm fine with it. I see no reason to reboot anymore though it's not where we want it to be they still have us a lot of what we have been asking for. The only thing as I said that needs to be changed is Kinberg and possibly Singer that's were the issue lies. Especially since we just got a new cast who did a great job with what they had it would be foolish to full on reboot again. When they can just fix what they have which it looks like they are attempting to do. I'm sure by next film well I hope we will get a more fleshed out team involving Jean,Storm,Cyclops,Nightcrawler and Jubilee.

For example, the choice of actor to play Apocalypse. Fans didn't like it. It should be someone taller. More intimidated. But Singer love the actor and went with it.

Cutting scenes of the movie that didn't needed to be cut.

Before release said that he doesn't like extended version of movies and we will not get one for this movie.

Don't paying attention to the characters powers (Psylocke should also have telepathy in this movie and it doesn't show)

Jubilee gets the same treatment Rogue got in DOFP.

The black suits instead of actual costumes cause he doesn't like the costumes from the comics.

Stuff like that.

Personally I think I reboot has never made less sense than it would right now. A new cast in place, a variety of possible spin-offs, a semi-coherent universe if we just take DOFP as a movie that erases everything else...

Yes to all of the above.

I see that line of thinking.

After X3 it wouldve been best. But now I just think it's a very good opportunity and they shouldnt just run the series into the ground.

Jackman leaving,
Theyre trying to build this cinematic universe
J Law might be leaving/rumor is that alot of the FC crew's contracts needing to be renewed,
A lot of fans (from what Ive seen) clamoring for a modern set X-Men with adult Cyclops, Wolverine, and them,
Singer maybe leaving the director's chair again.

I just think it's best especially if Apocalypse disappoints financially which I have a feeling it will. Bring the X-Men back to the present (reboot or not) and update it with modern superhero film sensibilities and make it feel organic

None of that sounds like arrogance to me. But Im off to see Apocalypse and will respond in full later

Last X-Men movie opened on the same weekend opened $90 million for the three-day and $110 million for the four-day.

I disagree. They have just set up a very likeable (and cheaper) younger cast of the most known characters. And they have even given them some amazingly comic like costumes.

Given the fact that every mutant in the X-Men franchise appears to have an anti-aging secondary mutation, bringing the newbies into the present day is hardly an insurmountable challenge. We'll see how Apocalypse ends up in terms of BO, but the performance may not justify a big budget 90s era space adventure. And having your major players inhabit the same time period allows for easier franchise cross fertilixation. We shall see.

Looks like $26.5m Friday.

Days of Future Past did 35.5 million BTW. Apocalypse needed the good reviews to do better and it just didn't get them. I hate to be mean but I am really happy Alice in Wonderland is flopping here in the states. So glad that X-Men murdered it.
