I don't think fans would take issue to Mystique being blue and dressed, meaning only her face/hands etc. would need to be painted.

However instead of that, they decide to have her out of make-up most of the movie. Which I am certain is as much of marketing decision from the higher-ups at Fox than Jennifer herself. There's a reason why they don't even bother giving her red hair in the "normal look" scenes. She's 100% identifiable as JLaw.

I'd be fine with that too.

Source tells me FRI heading to area of $30M for #XMenApocalypse. 3day & 4day #MemorialDayWeekend would be roughly $75M & $90M.

#AliceThroughTheLookingGlass FRI heading to roughly $10M, same as last yr's Tomorrowland. Weak wknd going to about $32M 3day & $40M 4day.

In line with a lot of recent expectations. Could be worse I guess but this thing is straining just to get to its first $100m.

Work closed early today, so I saw Jungle Book because I just remembered I hadn’t seen that yet. And it was PACKED. Saw a bunch of people heading in to XMA at the theater though.

Heading back for round 2 of X-Men tomorrow with my dad. Can’t wait for him to see it.

I can see 178 mil before production costs. I mean Civil War costs bank because they have a ton of actors they have to pay. I have no idea why BvS cost so much. just 10 years ago 100 million dollar movie was considered huge. Plus I'm sure Fox pushed back the budget a smidge after Deadpools success.

In fact I can see the CGI being a victim of cutbacks in Xpoc. I think 150 mil is a good budget for any movie not named Infinity Wars.

I knew Alice 2 would drop off hard compared to its predecessor, but that'[s way harsher than I would have guessed.

It makes me wonder what is the biggest drop WW for a movie that is a sequel? Like how much is Alice 2 going to make? Lets say it makes 500m that would be like a 50% drop from the first one.

I didn't read the issue where Psylocked briefly became a Horseman, but I'm pretty sure that she didn't do so willingly (mind control). And if she did join the Horsemen willingly in the comic, I'm pretty sure that she only did so in order to trick and defeat Apocalypse. Her reasons for joining him in the movie were SOLELY because she was a bad guy in the movie. My point was/is that introducing her in the films as a bad guy instead of as a hero was NOT faithful to the source material. The same goes for Storm.

You are right about Apocalypse being a Gary Stu in the comics. I forgot that since I only remember his shape shifting,size changing,energy blasts powers,and ability to transfer his life force into another persons body.

Every XMEN showtime was packed at my theater! I don't know if it's just me but people know Xmen, even more so than the Marvel characters. XMen movies have this different more relatable situation and theme in the movies. People connect with it.

If they do, it isn't reflected in the box office. None of the X-Universe movies has made as much as any of the Raimi trilogy, let alone the billion dollar generating Avengers films.

Fondly remembers when the X-Men were recognized as Marvel characters.
