Unfortunately, a reboot may happen. Deadline said that although Fox slightly rebooted in 2011, they may need to put the series on the shelf or go back to the drawing board. By the latter, I think they meant reboot.

Im not just saying this because I think a reboot is the way to go, but i dont think it'll really "confuse" the audience more than they already are in general about a lot of these movie properties

The current continuity hasn't held together that well in general with rebooting and retconning itself, infact some people don't even realise apocalypse was set in the 80s.

It would not confuse. What it would do is annoy. Look at the reaction to The Amazing Spider-Man.

The next X-Men film is gonna take a bit hit even if the quality is up to par to DOFP and X2. It will take two well received X-Men films to get it back with audiences.

If Fox wants to keep this series going and fresh they need to bank on X-Force and make sure that script is good. That's a natural transition for their new cash cow Mr Wilson and will be a more fresh take for the franchise that won't be affected by Apocalypse.

If they can play their cards right they can have a X-Force and X-Men crossover (which should have been Apocalypse) and grab audiences back in the masses that way.
Could be a good way forward.

I really think that's the best option. Even though I didn't like this film I like the younger cast here, and think they have potential.

They just really need to get a handle on scripts and wasting characters.

They have three X-Men related films coming up. All of them are not being scrapped. The main IP may take a brake but they can't reboot if they want to follow through with their films. One of which is gonna make them alot of profit.

i think the annoyance of TASM wouldve gone away if the movie was largely seen as good

I dont the GA care much/they dont care much about reboots like we fanboys/fangirls do

James bond was rebooted despite Die another day making ton of money and could be rebooted again after Spectre depending if Criag is done

WB was very reboot crazy when it came to DC heroes pre man of steel

Fox after FF2 underperformed in 2007 killed and third film as well as silver surfer film setting the stage for 2015 reboot disaster.Elektra bombing also killed any chance of daredevil sequel which was talked about after first film came out in 2003

and then there is sony after spider-man 3 and amazing spider-man 2.Apocalypse is now poised to make less than ASM2 did both domestic and WW.

How was WB reboot crazy when they've only rebooted Batman and Superman? And Batman in the 90s I don't really count as an reboot because they kept some of the same actors from the previous films. It was more like Bond changing actors

This is true. You would get a lot of, "really?".

My advice? Get a visionary director, who makes a film that is appealing on the very basic visual level. Invoke what most X-Men fans think of when they hear the name. Invoke the youth of those in the general audience that grew up with the show. Invite them to have fun.
Yes this is crucial. You need people who have pretty much given up on the franchise to see the next trailer and see this kind of promise to get them to give it another chance.

from internet.if people don't say give it back to marvel they often say just reboot.and some say it needs to be rebooted to fit in world of deadpool.

and some are naive if they think Kinberg would go too.

We probably won't get another X-Men team movie until 2019? maybe, they won't wait to long before making another one because they really would lose this new cast if they did that.

new creative team means a virtualy reboot anyway.and doudtful Kinberg at this junction will go just singer.obviously deadpool sequel will still happen but wolverine solo film may be end of X-men series as we knew it

Sheridan and Turner are under contract for 3 movies.

The new guys will be signed for multiple movies anyway. The First Class crew would need to re-sign though (just McAvoy and Hoult would be fine)

What can they show in the next trailers to show "promise"

You can't keep someone under contract indefinitely. 3 years is probably the limit here on the kids. There will need to be a new movie within that time period.

Something more appealing than Apocalypse Ooze that's for sure.
Imagine if they went full CGI and made the real deal? Though who does these effects? They are pretty crap so maybe that wouldn't have worked out either.

Yeah but like everything on a contract if you don't use it within a certain amount of time its gone, they can't leave it that long, 2019 or maybe the latest 2020 but yeah at some point the contracts would expire.

Yeah I still maintain that Apocalypse should have been CGI but the quality of the CGI matters.
