I don't think people are tired of XMen in general yet they are tired of Singers-Kinbergs version of XMen they continue to put out. That's the issue they are holding this back from being so much greater than it could be. We need someone on board who can bring the proper characterizations for each character and not have pointless mute characters.
The problem is that I'm not sure you wouldn't need quite a long break for a re-imagining of the best known characters (Prof, Wolverine, Jean, Cyclops, Angel, etc.) and I'm not sure there's a lot to fill that time span. The box office could suffer from the "too soon" complex (I rather think that happened to SM although the newer movies weren't as good as the first go round). Marvel, I think it trying to get by that by introducing another group that can go for 5 - 10 years. Maybe by then, the GA would be ready for a new go round.
). I'm certainly not saying you have to stick with Singer because he's the only good director in town. Fox just didn't do a very good job of getting someone who could handle the material (other than Singer). Frankly, I think he's primarily responsible for getting the franchise back on track. Without FC or DoFP, I don't know where we'd be today.
