when was DOFP that released again? May. And I honestly dont think the GA likes DOFP as much as fanboys do. Same with First Class. At least from what Ive seen

Of course Gravity and The Martian are different from X-Men films, but would you expect them to have gotten the same results released in May.

And fine scrap the Gravity, Martian complaint. THen what about Deadpool and Kingsmen? Both had great legs, were heavy on action, and weren't released the summer months. I guess you can say the comedy helped them, but I think a huge factor was the fact they were released when there was little to no competition (that being said on another note: really bad move from them to put Kingsmen in February)

I just havent seen evidence that it would be a bad decision to move the movie to October. I can kinda see the argument for September or January, but I still think there's potential there if it's largely seen as a good movie and gives the people the spectacle they want, which I dont think an X-Men movie has done in a long long time

I'm not a fan of X-men First class. It didn't feel like an Xmen movie to me.

I find it intresting those who rag on X-men films except for deadpool and possibly first Class want X-men to cut and run from summer.

June/july will probally be new release date for full X-men films if disney
does indeed release MCU and star wars both In May from 2018 on.

It's an X-MEN movie.

It opens well (usually) and then drops like a rock. It has been that way for 16 years now.

I dont think anyone said they didn't like DOFP or FC. I just said I dont think they liked it as much as we fanboys did from what Ive seen.

I think if DOFP was as well liked as it is by comic fans it wouldnt have dropped so much in America and First Class just plain wouldve made more money

A summer release date, especially Memorial Day, doesn't have the same pull right now as it did 10 years ago. The Hunger Games totally changed the game, no pun intended. Who would've thought we'd have four $300m+ blockbusters this year between February-April? Only BvS was expected to reach that amount. Compare that with the summer of 2014 when only GoTG reached $300m.

I think Fox has to think strategy at this point. Disney creates awareness through merchandising and their theme parks, Fox has restrictions on merchandising. What they can do is promote during the most viewed televised event of the year, the Super Bowl, and release that movie a few weeks later when it's still fresh on people's minds with less competition.

Avengers 2 made less than TFA. SM2 made less than SM1 ASM2 made less than ASM etc... it isn't always a rule. Why are you always so dramatic? Not all films are expecting to be as well received as previous efforts.

I notice you can't help but take these subtle little digs at the MCU often. It doesn't need to be compared to Star Wars. It's already carved out it's own place in Hollywood history for what it has done in 8 short years. Can't be denied.

From the report I saw, it started just under BvS for opening day. It sounds like there was plenty of late walk up business. As long as it doesn't collapse like BvS did, it should do okay, though Warcraft is still a monster coming.
