Umm, FX Productions is part of Fox.

Yeah, from what I know I actually get the impression it's on it's own separate X-universe under Fox, Marvel is working with them on it but it's not MCU but it's not part of the current FoX-verse either...it's a separate universe from all others.

So, we thinking $500-$550 mill the ultimate goal here? Has this come out in all territories yet?

If the budget is 178 I think those are good numbers

That's not including marketing. Media like Vanity Fair called it disappointing, and I think this is the general reaction in the industry.

Probably good enough to obviously keep going forward, but bad enough to take stock and say "OK, what can we do better next time?"

Actually, it also depends on its future hold. We don't want huge drops.

I cannot for the life of me think this movie seriously had a 178 million budget.

If FC had an 150 million budget why couldn't this be a 178 million one? The reason the budgets were so bloated for X3 and DOFP was because of salary demands from the OT cast.

I can because a lot of the green screen and wirework was dreadful and unpolished. After seeing the movie twice I can indeed see that budget being legit.

I'm hoping they go with the ok what can we do better next time, because they need to come hard next film.

You know this film has effectively "flopped" when even Superherohype only announces the overall international cumes ONCE and refuses to give us any daily updates on the film's box office (like it did with Captain America: Civil War and every other MAJOR release).

lol yeah THAT'S how you can gauge whether a movie flops or not.. :whatever:

These are pretty weak for a superhero franchise, and they lag X3 and DOFP a lot. And they are appreciably lower than what the industry expected. I think Scott Mendelson has the fairest take on this.

"For the record, there is no shame if it merely ends up with $160m domestic and $500m worldwide. But at some point this franchise is going to have to stop telling the same story if it wants to evolve past nostalgic fandom. The franchise has to evolve past telling stories centered around Magneto or Wolverine. Otherwise, the series that made the world safe for comic book superhero films may no longer be fit to live among its brethren."

I think the legs/holds will be similar to X3, and the movie will wind up around 150M or lower.

No one's arguing that it just it's not a box office "bomb" or "flop" those words being used is just stupid.

That's no bad at all.

The studio predicted 80M.

And if they'd predicted $60m it would be even better! All they need to do is make low predictions, then all their films will be hits!

I figured this would have a disappointing return.

Sorry to burst some bubbles, but this isn't a flop.

Is the box office a little disappointing, yes, especially for a CBM, but it's not a downright flop like some think it is.

If you're looking for a true flop, then look no further to Alice 2.

The crowed that I watched the movie really enjoy it. I watched this movie 3 times on its first weekend, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Everyone on my theater loved. Some scenes made people got nuts of excitement. Critics may say that it is worse than this or that but in the end of the day who actually pays to see the movie are the fans and general public, in fact critics see the movie for free, so their opinion doesn't really matter.

Point being, if this movie do at least the same money that First Class did, we are still good for a sequel.

If it makes like 500m WW, they are losing money on the box office run.

If it does FC money, everyone is losing their jobs. Thankfully it won't.

Difference being that Disney is done making Alice films for the foreseeable future. FOX doesn't have that option. The studio has to get back on that horse and hope the disappointing response to Apocalypse doesn't linger on the follow up.
