I'm pretty sure Singer will tell a great story of different Wolverine origin but I'm not sure if the complete exclusion of Weapon X was really that necessary. It appears Stryker has no connection to Wolverine now which I think is not a good idea.
If Stryker at the end was a REAL Stryker, the ending would be... I don't know... a more emotional, knowing what will happen to Logan.
I still hope Wolverine will be tied up with Weapon X somehow. Maybe in the different way and with a different result.
But unfortunately, I don't think that's gonna happen in the new timeline. Damn.
I have confirmed with Fox that these viral sites are for the digital and Blu-ray/DVD release of DOFP, not Apocalypse.
I know what you mean, I think if in the ending in the movie it was just left as Stryker it would have been much more interesting, and it would have meant we could have gotten a proper Weapon X movie instead of Origins. I wish they had left it as Stryker personally, especially with the Deadpool movie now coming out, it could have tied into that.
Fox.. with The Wolverine.
There was virtually no chance of a do-over Weapon X movie happening. They've covered that in three movies now. The Mystique ending gives it a retcon without having them retread a story we've already seen covered in three other movies.
That's the whole point in the ending narration being about the future never being set.
Exactly.
The Real-Stryker ending has a certain... for lack of a better word, 'poetry' to it. That no matter what happens, Wolverine can not escape Weapon X.
But the Raven-Stryker ending throws us into an exciting new unknown. It says (literally) "the future is not set", which is both romantic and much more exciting as a primer for the next movie and beyond. It says the X-Men franchise is back on track and unpredictable.
Exactly there Is no weapon X In movies anymore
The digital copy on iTunes now includes the deleted scenes. Singer also said in the commentary that these scenes won't be included in any other cut of the film, so we won't be seeing these in whatever extended edition they're planning.
Xavier was 12 in 1944, 41 in 1973, he will be 51 in 1983.
Wouldn't it be more suitable to have Patrick Stewart reprise his role as Xavier for X-Men Apocalypse? The man still looks the same even when he was in his 50's.
So happy Singer is confirmed for this, if he manages to better X2 or DOFP with this he will have pulled off something really special.
I think they gradually have to pass the torch from Stewart/McKellan, which is what they have done with DoFP. Those guys are too old now. Yeah you can always squeeze another one out of em, but it's just going to be all the more harder to finally make the transition complete.
They did do some CGI to make Joseph Gordon Levitt look like Bruce WIllis in that time travel flick, so maybe they can do something similar? It was kind of distracting in that film though. Only if the CGI is convincing, but it wouldn't be necessary.
