My pick for someone like Apocalypse or Darkseid has always been Javier Bardem.

I like Tom Hardy, but I feel like it is too soon after playing Bane. But who knows, it could work out.

I dont like the idea of DC or MS villain actors coming to X-verse. That feels quite unoriginal by Singer's team. I like Hardy, but..... give me someone unexpected and even a bigger name is possible.

You have actors like Patrick, Ian, Kelsey, Michael... Singer can bring another big name for their biggest villain yet

Umm that's exactly what it is. I don't want Hardy at all to be Apocalypse. But it'll probably happen anyway. FOX is the one doing that historically inaccurate Exodus flick that looks plain silly. Even Sigourney Weaver is in there all made up in Egyptian garb. How insulting, it looks like a movie from the 50's. Makes you wonder why even bother redoing the 10 Commandments when it's already a great one, well at least they are sticking true to form and ignoring the real racial make up of the people. It's 2014 Hollywood at least research history, wasn't any white people around Egypt at least not characters that the movie is about. Xmen I can accept it cause it's fiction and a comic book movie, don't like it but I can accept it.

Well WB miscast him as Bane and the people seemed to like it, why not miscast him as Apocalypse, I'm sure the people will love it again. At the very least it'll give the internet a year's worth of good gifs.

Hardy's height is irrelevant as:

-There are MANY different established techniques for making and actor seem taller/shorter than they really are. See JRD as Gimli in LOTR, RDJ as Iron Man, and pretty much every Tom Cruise/Sly Stallone action movie ever.

-Apocalypse would likely be either CGI, mo-cap, or some combination of the two. So we'd likely be looking at a Mark Ruffalo as Hulk-type of situation.

-Hardy's a really good actor and can be intimidation as Hell when he wants to be.

So how exactly would this be a "miscast?" Not seeing it personally. Oh and he was awesome as Bane.

This is exciting. If Hardy signs on, it could be great for the movie. Hardy is a great actor and is certainly capable of taking on a big role like Apocalypse.

I'm actually surprised by some of the negative comments here. I thought everyone would be pleased by the news. I guess you can't please everybody.

I would have liked Bardem. But Hardy would be a good choice too (for me). Not sure how height is coming into it.

would be a bit typecast, definetly. But to my surprise, after my first reaction, I started to like the idea, since the very moment I saw a pic of him on an article and suddenly saw him as a believeable adult version of young Apocalypse in Dofp.

And taking into account other things, I now see why Bryan and co. may be interested in him. I can see it

Most actors and actresses look younger so usually they cast older, but no they don't always cast older. Chloe Moretz has played aorund her age more then a few times. And other actors who are younger have played more mature characters. Depends on the actor/actress.
