Well they don't have to rush but they likely will want to keep the momentum.

I mean they couldn't wait till 2020 for example as that would be to much time

Sure they could. 2-3 years is the norm but it's not like Dark Knigt Rises was really affected by 4 years.

Depends what they are doing, and the reception here. Likely, I'd assume we are dealing with 2018-2019. These films are always in development.

very intresting he says proteus and not his version of phoenix/dark phoenix.

In trailer you could see in moira's office pics of her with a boy.

There is a lot of family drama to come from using one of the X-Men's crazy kids like Proteus, Legion, Graydon Creed or Daken so I guess it was only a matter of time until we see one of them make appearance as a main villain.

If they ever do a major crossover I hope that is reserved for Phoenix.

I think Proteus would be a great villain for the next movie. I loved him in the 90's AS and having a kid as the villain would definitely bring something new to the franchise. It would also mean more Moira which is never a bad thing.

More importantly it would save Sinister for later. And yes more Moira is always good.

What should the subtitle be?

X-Men: The Proteus Saga
X-Men: The Mutant Massacre
X-Men: Night of the Sentinel's
X-Men: Children of the Atom
X-Men: Inferno
X-Men: Sinister
X-Men: Day's of Future Present
X-Men: Operation Zero Tolerance
X-Men: Age of Apocalypse
X-Men: Legions Quest

They can save Sinister for a while if they focus on

Bastion
Nimrod
Master Mold
Omega Sentinel's
Kirby Comic Accurate Sentinel's
The Human Council

You could do a trilogy on that Villian Group The Human Council is probably the biggest organization in the X-Men Rogue gallery

Any Fox X property that allows it. I personally don't want a threat like Dark Phoenix to look minimal or non existent to the rest of their X-Men properties.

Human supremacist villains are really played out at this point.

The Human Council is the voice behind The Sentinel's.

Not only that but they are a combination of the greatest Human Villians in X-Men Canon all on one team. With powerful Sentinel's backing them up not soldiers.

Agree to disagree but This X-Men Team vs Sentinel's is not played out. Without the Human Council the Sentinel's will be hollow again like in DoFP

Crossovers will really depend where the franchise is by that point, no cross overs can happen if nothing is set up by that point.

they can cross over with new mutants or X-FORCE, although if they are in the present it would have to involve time travel.

They did the Sentinels in DOFP. There's no reason to think they're going back to that well.

I hope Singer stays on as producer at the minimum. The franchise suffers when he has no involvement

Proteus would be cool, I'd like to see the Shi'ar personally.

Not really. We've seen government against mutants and a pharmaceutical company but they haven't touched on the Everyman, they could have a militia who are hunting and murdering mutants, outright declaring war on mutants rather than treading the line

Yeah, I agree, but ... how will a crossover be made really?
As pointed above, most likely time-travel. Really don't see any other option.

That's really not very different from any of the government's attacks on mutants.

And more generally, I'd rather see more superpowered combat.

I personally think Proteus would be a great villian, I'm not really sure how old he is in Apocalypse yet but in that case a few years may pass to make him a more suitable age to battle. I want the Shiar myself to be hinted at in Apocalypse that can waiver in the Starjammers, the Shiar Guard,Lilandra,Deathbird and even Cyclops older psychotic brother this is a great time for that but then if Singer takes a break as director next film which can involve a number of things by the time Singer comes back it can be a suitable time to bring in Proteus. He was a bad ass villian with a little craziness to him so would be cool to see his reality warping powers on the big screen.

Depends, but I don't think they will be ignored as characters crossing over are already happening right off the bat in Deadpool. Now we have a major time traveler with Cable being introduced. New Mutants and Gambit won't be left in the cold with no X-Men connection. And it's been stated by Reynolds quite a few times that there's been plenty of discussions on how Deadpool will fit.

Phoenix comes with alot of insane cosmic powers and devastation to the universe, and the present films will have a timetraver. If 4 movies are all interacting with themselves in the present and the main X-Men films don't make an effort to use those cosmic or time traveling characters to fit things together I won't really understand. The Main X-Men franchise will just look further away from the bigger crowd.

There's still so much untapped from the comics. Proteus is actually one of my favorite stories so that excites me a lot. Proteus alone probably wouldn't carry a movie though, especially coming after Apocalypse. I think Proteus mixed up with the Friends of Humanity and a reactivated Sentinel program would be a great film.

Then, over in X-Force have them deal with a returning Apocalypse and the Legacy Virus.

Back in X-Men, start focusing on the galactic material. The Shi'ar Empire, the Brood, a cosmic-related Phoenix (maybe a two-part film that brings in X-Force to help in part II).

Beyond that? There's Genosha ("X-Tinction Agenda" was actually my favorite story of the Claremont run), the Phalanx, the Reavers (with a proper Lady Deathstrike, perhaps in an adaptation of "Fall of the Mutants"?), Magneto and the Acolytes.... there's TONS yet to touch on.

And you know how you introduce Mojo's World (and thereby Longshot)? Have a Deadpool movie cover that, so the tones fit together and that way Mojo's wackiness doesn't have to dilute the serious main franchise.

i doubt we will see the sentinels return since it undermines the events of DOFP

Nothing is gone forever in the world of comic films.

Well most if not all of the human on mutant attacks is from soldiers following order Until we see Mutants being chased down by a mob of people because of a personal fear and hatred and see mutants beaten in the street and hopefully X-Men stepping in to defend them it'll be something I want to see

Yes to the bolded, this needs to happen. As was stated there is so much untapped potential in X Men lore and bringing in the Shiar would be epic. Omg i want this to happen. I for one think Proteus can work along he wasnt created and died in one issue of the comic. He had some serious problems with his father and he put the team through hell with his reality powers. Though he may not be as big as Apocalypse I think as a villian he could carry a film theres so much to tell and it can bring back Byrne.

No, comics films tend to definitively dispose of issues that the comics have to keep around indefinitely, due to the different demands of the media. That's why most villains are killed after one film (and even those that aren't are generally not seen again), whereas in the comics they keep coming back.

If you look at those three issues, there's not really that much to the story. TAS did a pretty solid adaptation of it in two twenty-minute episodes. And Proteus, while powerful, doesn't really strike me as a foe that could carry a film; he doesn't really have any great plans. It'd just be the X-Men brawling with him. I guess it could be expanded on somehow.

If Singer was thinking about Proteus, it'll be interesting to see what this movie tells us about Moira's life over the intervening twenty years.
