The important thing about DOFP is making sure the apocalyptic future doesn't happen. Sentinels can still return. It won't render Mystique's choice and the sacrifices of the OT mutants useless. Robert Kelly, Stryker, anyone could find a way to illegitimately reinstate the program. There's no need to treat them like the Mark X in the 2023 future. Just make them like the Ultron drones. Mindless things for the X-Men to take out.

but then there purpose really is just canon fodder this time

New image from USA Today.

thats from the trailer isn't it?

The moment whoever decides to bring them back they have to be aware that yes it may feel like a slight undo to the ending to DOFP which the setinels were a very deadly threat in and to try and hide it you would have to make all this effort to show there is no way it can happen again as these sentinels are just around to be canon fodder because the X-Men need setinels like in the comics and they are clearly out of ideas

Disagree GuestStar, which we seem to do alot of lately.

Even when our opinions are the same for whatever odd reason.

Magneto has come back loads of times, and so has Stryker. They've had two goes at Emma Frost, two goes at Psylocke, two goes at Trask, three goes at Angel and they will no doubt continue doing that sort of thing if it serves the film.
Magneto is basically part of the cast in this series, and isn't always the main villain. Stryker, as I said, is a minor character after X2; the films aren't sold on him. Also true with those other characters, who were reintroduced as part of the quasi-reboot.

That shot of Jean in cerebro is a little confusing. How would she be able to be using cerebro if it's been destroyed by Havok's blast? Looks like Havok blasts it to break the connection between Charles and Apocalypse. If the room itself is ruined cerebro can't work. I hope there's an answer to this and she just doesn't use it normally and tracks everyone.

I really love the black battle gear personally. They make them look tough and prepared for battle.

Its like if after this movie people started saying they should bring apocalypse back and do an AOA movie which i would say well they done the dark future thing already and apparently there are some elements in Apocalypse from AOA so i don't see them doing it again just because they can do the same thing but in a different way.

Dude wanted to either murder hundreds or murder major political figures. People have to stop him in every film. Who cares if he isn't the main villain he plays the same hand as does Stryker. It's revisiting the same.

We have not even got a major mutant villain besides Magneto and Shaw until now. Which is fine, but the argument that X-Men doesn't bring back characters who died like comic books do or revisit some of the same villain tendencies is pretty off base.

What about Phoenix?

What about Phoenix?

Ah kinda true. She wasn't really a character for most the film. More an instrument of Magneto, just standing by his side until unleashed. Mags led her and that was his doing on Alcatraz in the end. X3 is very heavy with Magneto being the more crucial villain.

But I'm sure we all want that revisited and done properly right? Nothing wrong with that. Phoenix in X3 was a joke.

Unless this is during the supposed theory...

Jean
help Charles during a 'suggested' astral plane battle between Charles and Apocalypse. One shot in the new trailer has Charles laying on the floor with blood all over him, and it looks like the subbasement floor he is crawling across after he has been swung around by the huge Apocalypse upstairs in the mansion. This whole scene could be Jean entering his mind and helping him there..mentally.

Or this could be part of Jean's premonition to the end of the world... like she mentions throughout X2, just this time we see her premonitions visually?

Here in the UK i seen ads on the TV for an exclusive look at x-men apocalypse after the next episode of the walking dead, I dunno if it's the Super Bowl spot or the new trailer, they showed bits of the Super Bowl spot in the ad so I dunno

Darn why isn't that type of stuff shown here in the US. Fox has some smart marketing plans

None of the above, lol....

Those are unimaginative or clunky and do not work as film titles at all.

Here's some I think would work... most are particular stories, of course

X-Men: Zero Tolerance
X-Men: Mutant Massacre
X-Men: Project Proteus (still not quite sure of this) or Proteus Rising? Curse of Proteus? The Proteus Code? Or take out Proteus and call it X-Men: Dark Son Rising ???
X-Men: Battle of the Atom
X-Men: Messiah Complex
X-Men: House of M
X-Men: Second Coming
X-Men: Second Genesis
X-Men: The Omega Code

I'll flick through my comics later to see if i can find any more good titles. But I know there are loads.

They could borrow the title without the story (a la First Class) or do the story associated with the title.

You basically took a word out of some of my suggestions.

X-Men: The Mutant Massacre you changed to X-Men: Mutant Massacre lol smh X-Men: Operation Zero Tolerance you changed to X-Men: Zero Tolerance lol

X-Men: Inferno is a classic X-Men vs Sinister storyline that'll have to be adapted eventually

X-Men: The Proteus Saga is Claremont's third best story after DoFP and The Phoenix Saga

Learn your X-Men before you call someone unimaginative

Yeah I liked your suggestions better too Leo.

Reminded me about Robert Kelley!! Perhaps he could someday return

So you guys really don't want to see Bastion or Master Mold because we got mute "Sentinel's" in DoFP?

Cyclops/Jean Grey/Nightcrawler/Gambit/etc the actual real X-Men haven't even seen a Sentinel up close in these films yet

How many movies before you guys feel comfortable going to space?

Because X-Men can use the M'kran Crystal similar to Avengers Infinity Gaunlet.

Emperor D'Ken and his Imperial Guard are out there in Shi'ar Space and it'll be glorious seeing that battle. The Imperial Guard has at least 30 different alien races in its group

latest

All this talk about the future post-Apocalypse makes me happy.

They could build up to a Phoenix Saga a la Avengers Infinity War.

The Sentinels aren't so compelling as foes that I have any interest in revisiting them. Their motivation is unchanging and we already saw it in DOFP. I'd much rather see the X-Men going up against real characters with different ideas.

I'd be very surprised if any of the stuff with demons or Madelyne Pryor ever made it into an X-Men film.

I was thinking the main ingredient would be the team of villians since X-Men are a hero team they need villian teams to fight over just one villian.

Am I missing anyone?

Sauron & The Mutates

Sinister & The Marauders

Magneto & The Acolytes

Mystique & The Brotherhood

Bastion & The Human Council

Shinobi Shaw & The Hellfire Club

D'Ken & The Imperial Guard

Apocalypse & The Real Horsemen (Holocaust, Abyss etc)

Apocalypse & The Dark Riders

Children of the Vault

Trevor Fitzroy & The Upstarts

S'ym & The Demons of Limbo

Lady Deathstrike or Pierce & The Reavers

Black Tom & Juggernaut

As far as alien invasion type baddies

The Brood

The Phalanx

Dire Wraiths

Shi'ar

Agreed. I dont want another lets take out the mutants plot.

Sinister definitely needs to make it.

Id rather not see Madelyne. She's redundant with Jean around. She was introduced as a replacement for Jean but with Jean in the films, there is no need for her, and they shouldnt get rid of or kill Jean to make room for her. I dont think the movies need to introduce clones and dont want to see an "evil Jean" alongside the real thing. Like why? Maddie unnecesarily complicates things

Fans of TAS want Sentinel's that's why DoFP made more $ than any other film Sentinel's were a huge part of that. We haven't gotten Bastion Nimrod or Master Mold. Or The Omega Sentinel's which ends the complaint of Sentinel's who don't talk (Bastion talks too)

Madelyn Pryor can easily take Emma Frost place in The Hellfire Club. Emma's probably not coming back.

We need as many female characters good or bad in Super Hero movies as we can get just off principal. I'd welcome Madelyn to the franchise. She doesn't have to tied to Cyclops or Jean only hardcore fans know about her just change the origin

Just don't make her a clone
