It is overdone when different forms of media keep the same thing with her. How it happens is tweaked but ultimately Jean has been "killed" off and brought back so many times in various outlets. Phoenix is her codename in the books; its not her codename here in the films, so they do not need to go there
The whole cocoon thing is a retcon that happened years later. That wasnt thought up when they were writing or thinking of the ramifications of Jean's actions in the original story.
We'll have to agree to disagree bc IMO there is no point in doing a DPS story without including the most important scene and thats Jean's sacrifice or some variation of her dying.
Evolution never did the Dark Phoenix Saga

Their relationship has more depth than that.I felt like the X-Men movies depicted Jott more or less accurately. They were married because Jean and Scott get married and they are Jean and Scott.
Evolution didn't do anything with the Phoenix. They had stories about Jean's growing power levels. Yes, she was mind controlled by Mesmero, but it didn't have any connections to anything Phoenix. Closest Evo got was teasing it in the finale. No Evolution did a twist on the DPS using Masterming it was just tweaked and it worked well she didn't turn evil or anything. Whether the cocoon was a retcon it still happened so it is canon. If they go DPS then she wouldn't just be Jean, regardless in the comics it is apart of her so I'm sure they'll find some way of introducing it in movies we have seen Pheonix in X3 though. I don't want her to be killed since it's the reintroduction to the new young Jean so I would like them to wait but I do want it to indeed happen.
That was not some twist on DPS. Jean never turned into Phoenix in Evolution. As stated all we got was a glimpse in some future vision in the finale. Nothing they did with Jean even came close and they definitely didnt have Mastermind make Jean lose control and become a villian against her friendsNo Evolution did a twist on the DPS using Masterming it was just tweaked and it worked well she didn't turn evil or anything. Well, Faraci did a bit of a write-up on the cinemacon footage:
http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/04/16/cinemacon-x-men-apocalypse-footage-clears-up-mystiques-role
Sounds interesting and kinda what I figured we'd be getting and it plays off of why Mystique pulls Wolverine out of the river at the end of DOFP.
Might be true if you ignore Morrison and Whedon's contributions.I can't argue your opinion of course, but for me, while everyone knows they shared major stories, imo that history is mostly independent of how their characters play off of each other. Her boyfriend during DPS could have been anyone and the wife looking for him in Search for Cyclops could have more of less been any character with the hypersensitivity powers to feel him.
The relationship doesn't really depict anything interesting about their personalities as a coupling other than the "Cyclops is unsure and Jean conforts him in a motherly way" bits.
It's like they are together because that's what Ken and Barbie do and not because the relationship is fun/interesting/dynamic/sexy.
Now, Warren and Betsy? That could get interesting if they want to take it there.
Any X-Men-related article on that is just a torrent of people whining about how awful Bryan Singer is.There was slightly less "grrr Fox" aggression in that article than I was expecting.
I'm bored. I tought i was going to have all weekend looking at the new trailer...
When did they launched the official site for the Days of future past? theres nothing about it for Apocalypse.![]()
Just because we're not at war doesn't mean we're at peace.
So they signed a 3 film deal then with Apocalypse being film 1
i thought they would have signed them for 4 personally but i guess not

We already saw it in trailer, Jean keeps Scott's head.
Don't know why people are surprised now, like Faraci seeing bleeding and crawling Xavier, after Apocalypse smahed him, when we already saw it in trailer too.

of course the cocoon happened but the point was it was a retcon to absolve her of her sins by saying none of the stuff we were reading from the past several years was her, not about resurrecting her. Do people really want them to do this story and then come back and say Sikes! That wasnt really Jean. It cheapens the films IMO. It was a necesary evil back in the 80s when they didnt have the foresight of bringing her back when the original DPS was written and they had her do those horrific things
