I don't consider DOFP ground level at all.

You better preach now!
Anyway, when are they gonna announce X-Men: Phoenix? and I'm assuming this would take place in 1993. I hope they bring in Mr. Sinister just like what I suggested before.
I'd be down to see Spiral. She would bring something new (visually) to the franchise.
The little we got in the future no I don't think so either but everything else yes, it was a mixture between both to show they can do it. I actually really wish we could have seen them in action but there really was no one for them to battle lol

Why would you assume that? I really dont think they need to jump that far ahead in the timeline.
Because thats why they did in the past two films.
I don't really see any reason for them not to jump to 1993, especially when the original trilogy and the films featuring the OT cast were set in 21st century Fox.
New mutants supposedly is set in the 80's, phoenix can be set in the late 80's perhaps?
just bc they did that doesnt meant they will continue doing so. The trilogy that began in FC had a specific goal and that was to tell the tale of the relationship between Xavier, Erik and Raven, which spanned decades. With this now over, there is no reason to jump ahead again, especially since they just established a new team. This series needs to slow down not continue to jump around in the timeline. The further you go forward, the more of a stretch it is to still see McAvoy play Xavier. He already looks too young in 1983. I cant see him playing a beleivable Xavier in his 60s if they jump ahead another decade.
I just think it's harder to scale down than to scale up. I think they need to build up to the cosmic aspect. Like First Class was ground level. Then DOFP upped the anti. Then Apocalypse is where you blew your load, so to speak. With a new pseudo trilogy next (or at least a beginning to something) it's a good time (especially if it's an "early adventures of the X-Men" type movie) to scale down so that they have something to build towards. That doesn't mean they have to revert back to X1 days, but I think a lot of cool things can be done with Sinister/Mauraders/Morlocks.
I don't even really understand why the New Mutants is set in the 80s. If the main X-Men team (filled with adolescence) is set in the early 80s, I would think New Mutants should be set in the 90s where the main team would have been around for like a decade. It would even help with ushering the team closer to the present timeline.
They should be set in the present with the New Mutants squad being mentored by one of the OT characters preferably an adult Cyclops portrayed by James Marsden.
Seeing Colossus train Negasonic Warhead Teenage, made me want to see the other X-Men to do that in a movie.![]()

The trilogy that began in FC had a specific goal and that was to tell the tale of the relationship between Xavier, Erik and Raven, which spanned decades. With this now over, there is no reason to jump ahead again, especially since they just established a new team. They have a relatively young cast playing young roles. We dont need them mid to late 20s in the next film. This series needs to slow down not continue to jump around in the timeline. Yes, she also has to have her classic look. No other way around it.She would be so fierce if done right! I just cannot imagine putting her on screen with six arms and not steal the show! And let her battle with Psylocke because you know both of them are sword masters!t:
But who's left? Off the top of my head, Rogue, Iceman, Gambit, Colossus, Kitty, Illiyana, Dazzler, Wolverine...
I'm not sure how or even if they are coming to the present right now it does look like they are staying in the past. I suggested they bring them to the present as they did in All New XMen but honestly idc what time frame they are in as long as they continue to tell good stories I'll be in that theater first day. I hope they don't make a current time XMen with a bunch of unknowns.I agree they need to establish and work with the young cast. But eventually, they have to bring the team to present time. I just can't see how they can accomplish that without a) time travel, b) sliding time scale, or c) retiring the current team and using a new set of mutants (a la The Avengers after Infinity War). But who's left? Off the top of my head, Rogue, Iceman, Gambit, Colossus, Kitty, Illiyana, Dazzler, Wolverine...
