I really like the costumes, but could they be better? Of course, I think there's always room for improvement but they aren't awful by any stretch of the imagination.
Agreed.

I guess what bothers me is people saying they didn't even translate their comic book looks. If you hate them, fine. But they clearly did translate them. Cyclops is missing the underpants? They toned down the yellow on Jean? Big difference... whatever.

Maybe they should've kept the black armors so everyone would just agree that they sucked and moved on, lol.

But then we won't get anymore pics of Famke smiling (which Btw is starting to get old)

the villains easily have the best costumes

Can't please everyone but these costumes being used in the movie are some of the best yet. Regardless what you think of them they are the most comic accurate, color and pattern wise.

Exactly I think they look awesome and those complaining it doesn't look like the comics?

:funny:

Yeah right...:loco:

The panels and blocks of black resemble the reimages of the classic costumes and the silhouette and accessories look of the 90s era of yellow and blue. Even Storms costume is sometimes depicted as gray with yellow highlights (hmmm sounds familiar).

To those who aren't happy what would you be happy with?

Please dont tell me how I feel. Im not upset about the costumes. It is what it is and these apparently come at the end so it wont matter to the film anyway. I just finished writing that I dont need any of these costumes to be accurate to the comics. AGAIN, I just want them to look great and I dont think these do. Besides Im not the one that brought the MCU in here with the comparisons. I just responded to that. I judged my thoughts on the X-men costumes based off of the X-men franchise, not MCU so please dont come at me with that. That stuff is irrelevant to what I feel about these

You mentioned the MCU in the post in which me and you were talking that's why I responded with it. I wasn't trying to bring that up because frankly I hate comparing them. I wasn't telling you how to feel I'm simply going off the posts you made. You certainly mentioned that they weren't pulling from the XMen Classic looks and that you disliked it and that was false whether you want to see it or not they indeed pulled from the comics with most of the looks. So no one is putting words in your words I'm literally going off what YOU said. It's just no need to get upset and acting like they aren't trying to do things differently. If you don't like it fine but you can't say they aren't pulling from the comics.

Had the last trailer on repeat for about an hour last night. :woot:

Is there a larger version of this somewhere? If there's one thing that drives me nuts, it's when studios release an awesome new pic but it's the size of a f***ing baseball card.

The suits idea is good. Inspired by Jim Lee's design (One of my favs). But they look so cheap and I bet that's because almost all the money they have to produce the movie is in JLaw pocket. To bad that we are getting a Sinsajo: Apocalypse.

Cyclops suit looks exactly like one of the old toys or video game designs

I'm trying to remember but can't figure out what it was called

and no, I'm not thinking of the Jim Lee costume, it was one he never actually wore in the comics

The only costume that doesn't work for me in that picture is Storm's. Which is especially annoying as her horseman look is fantastic.

Mystique's, the jury is out on.

Cyclops looks incredible.

For me its...

TOP TIER AWESOME
-Cyclops
-Jean
-Nightcrawler (he needs a haircut though)
-Xavier not a costume, but looks perfect

LOOKS "OK"
-Mystique (top half is excellent, bottom half looks awful)
-Storm (Horseman costume is much better, this looks bulky)
-Quicksilver (like storm, too bulky, especially for a speedster, he also needs a haircut eventually)

These 3 just need some tweaks and they'd be great

JURY IS OUT ON
-Beast. the group shot looked awful.. but we haven't gotten a full on shot... so i can't really accurately say if i love or hate it. But that being said i've hated beast's design from the getgo... .. Kelsey sounded the part.. and looked closer to the part... but i want my hulking blue furry beast i know and love... who walks and runs like an ape (he really should have been CG)

or, could it be possible, that some people actually feel the costumes look cheap and plastic and sub-par??
nope, gotta be biased 'Marvel Zombies' :whatever:

It's nothing at all wrong with disliking the costumes as many posters have said to sans person so don't out everyone in that category. The issue is when someone says these costume are not inspired by "classic" looks and that's false when it's quite the opposite also when some people complain about the leather and wanting more comic accurate costumes and then when we get the complaints just keep coming. That's were the issue lies when someone defends something that means they are biased and it's not true. Most of the costumes are comic accurate and really don't look as bad as those are making it out to be. The only one I slightly don't like is Storms but it dosent look cheap, do yes people are just complaining to complain and have ZERO to say positive about the film for many reasons. Many people are saying it's not a 100% carbon copy but they pulled inspiration from it and you can clearly tell what inspirations they pulled from. I don't like all of the costumes but I appreciate them for the effort they made.

That's true, to an extent
but I think it's largely because this franchise still makes some questionable choices

for example... I, for one, am certainly no DC fan, I'm sick of the internet obsession with Batman, hated MoS, had no interest in seeing BvS, yet the production and costume design on those films is miles above anything from the X-films outside of Deadpool. And I hate the MoS Superman suit, but it still looks of a better quality than anything from these movies. The MCU is in the same boat, imo. Things are different from the source, yes, but there's a higher quality to it and more thought and better design put into everything they do. I don't know if it's the designers themselves or Singer or the studio, but it's sub-standard for the genre at this point

Personally, I really want to love these movies, but some things continue to feel cheap and poorly thought out, and keep them from reaching that upper level of quality

I agree the Snyder costumes look great (and I do like his Superman ones). His weakness comes in almost everything else. That's why I thought Nolan was more apt. His Joker was grungy with caked on and smeared make-up, his Scarecrow wore a suit, his Bane (thankfully) never looked like a luchador, and his Catwoman wore a visor for "ears."

Granted, they all looked great in the film, but again we haven't seen these costumes in film. Sadly, it probably will only be one scene, but let's see how they are lit and photographed and how they move. I imagine they will look quite good (the glimpses of how Mystique's look in the trailers worked quite well).

Marvel, in general, I agree their costumes are much better, especially Iron Man who is perfect. Whereas I am sick of black leather in the X-Men movies. Still I liked the yellow and blue First Class design more than Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, or Barton and Romanov in the Avengers films. And I am willing to see how these costumes look in the finished film. I already think Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Jean actually look kind of perfect. The others, I will wait to see.

I wish Storm's costume was more white like her most well-known iteration, but I can understand why they didn't go that route. White costuming is terrible to handle and typically doesn't look that great on film.

I'm trying to think of it too... I've even seen that visor in silver before... was it part of the Astonishing run? i know his astonishing costume was a full on cap head.. but i feel like something around that era had him with an exposed silver visor.. maybe when not hin his uniform?

and his suit looks like it's pattern perfectly off the jim lee suit.. just sans undies and needless pouches with a bit of the color scheme of the Astonishing suit.. with yellow pipping.

Completely agree about Beast but then he's never looked good...

Wasn't it silver in the Age of X timeline where Storm and Namor were married? I do agree about Beast though he's my least fav look but overall the looks are good

I think you guys are talking about this one:

It looks a mix between his Astonishing uniform and with the added chest straps from his classic 90's costume.

I would've personally preferred her first appearance costume.
latest
Just give her pants instead of swimsuit and you're good to go... what we got is overdesigned I think.

But I generally agree with your thoughts.

(side note) I will say this... Hawkeyes costume in Civil War is pretty perfect... and looks pretty similar to this http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net...logue_2.png/revision/latest?cb=20120609180112 sans mask of course.

you wont be disappointed.

eh.... the Young time displaced 05 X-men have terrible comic costumes imo.. glad they didn't go that route.

Tastes differ. The thing I find about those suits is that they seem more fitting for the 80s era.

from what i understand her "white costume" was always suppose to be "silver" but it was hard to print a real "silver" look (look at silver sable, she mostly appears white too)

agrees. it really is a perfect marriage of the 2 designs.
