Yes, and all of those aforementioned errors bothered me as well. Just because this franchise is consistently sloppy with continuity doesn't mean it gets a pass when it continues to do so. I'd argue this newest example is one of the most egregious.

I really enjoyed this flick to be honest. I'm surprised at the hostility and the RottenTomatoes score right now. There was a certain other CBM this year that got terrible reviews, and I fully saw why, but I still, for the most part, enjoyed that one. However, the RT score for this movie truly has me scratching my head. I mean, I guess the climax is somewhat generic, but I thought the whole
Xavier and Apocalypse fighting in their mind sequence was really well done and quite original. I would say that Civil War had a more emotional finale and battle, but this one was more than just CGI destruction. I don't think critics give it enough credit.
The 80s setting was so fun, and I would love to see more X-Men movies set in this time period. I love the new team of Jean, Scott, Kurt, Ororo, and Peter. I can't wait to further explore their characters in what will presumably be a new trilogy. I hope the older cast members decide to stick along for the ride.
That Wolverine cameo was the bomb. So damn good.
So I haven't read the comics so I have no idea how Apocalypse is characterized, but I really enjoyed him in this one. He was calm, restrained, and just had this awesome sense of power about him. No idea if this was accurate, but I don't really give a ****. It worked for the movie, and I thought it was great.
The movie itself felt like, an "old-school" CBM. It reminded me more of films like X-Men 2 and Spider-Man 2 than say Iron Man or Captain America. I really enjoyed that aspect of it. I have no idea why I feel this way, but it's just the vibe that I got from this movie. Felt like a CBM from my childhood instead of these newer CBMs.
Well, to be fair, it's been 10 years since Mystique, under the guise of Stryker, rescued Wolverine. We have no idea what events transpired between then and 1983. One could simply infer that he parted ways with her at some point and was subsequently tracked down by the real Stryker.
It's really not hard to understand. Mystique is saving mutants. She did it at the beginning of DoFP, she did it with Wolverine and she did it with Nightctawler. She just freed Wolverine and he would've went on his own. We saw in DoFP, Stryker look at him in Paris. So he was interested in him from then. He would've looked for him after that and evidently found him. We don't know if Wolverine volunteered or he took him and forced him into the program. It seriously not that hard to understand. And I think the next wolverine movie will fill in the gaps.

I've been saying this in multiple threads. Mystique parted ways with Logan after rescuing him, and some are saying that's redundant, what's the point? etc., reading too much into it and insisting it's a twist or cliffhanger plothole and I'm like

Yeah, the 'time being immutable' line from DOFP should've been enough. Logan will always become Weapon X.
But of course, therein lies the issues with all these decade jumps. They can just scatter these characters at any point in their lives and just use the decade jump as an excuse. Something that may work once such as in the case of DOFP (and Vaughn came up with the idea iirc) kinda gets a bit ridiculous multiple times over.

I get what you mean by that, and kind of agree. This movie, for me, was almost like a new version of X1 in many regards. I would say in an even better way than what X1 gave us when it came out. This is the kind of the movie I wish we got then
Does anyone think Simon Kinberg is being a little patronizing when he says he doesn't know who wrote the "third movie is always the worst" line? Like he does know who it was, but doesn't really want to admit who wrote it because they trashed the movie he co-wrote? Or maybe he is being genuine.
IMDB lists them as War, Pestilence, Famine and Death.. Death being the one who shields Apocalypse until her end. I much preferred them over the X-Horsemen.
They are said to be similar to Fantastic 4 .. We got Famine with the pyrokinesis (Human Torch), Death with the shield which resembled Invisible Woman's powers, Pestilence with super strength (The Thing) that stopped a huge falling piece of the pyramid from falling on top of En Sabah Nur, and War that seemed to telekinetically flatten (Mr.Fantastic?) two guards against the wall and they turned into skeletons.
In the comics, War clapped his hands together and created explosions or something, Famine had a touch that drained life/disintegration, Pestilence's touch caused plague/disease and Death was Archangel/Angel..

I think it will too. Like I wouldn't at all be surprised if Wolverine 3 is an adaptation of The Shiva Scenario and Nightmare Quest storylines where X-Men Origins were false memory implants from Weapon X.
Stuff like Gambit appearing is because he was one of the Marauders. Wolverine actually volunteered for Weapon X. Sabretooth isn't actually Logan's brother but another volunteer for Weapon X... and Sabretooth think that Logan is his SON! Silverfox is still alive and Deadpool's appearance is because he was travelling through time with Cable (which Deadpool will outright state that this is a story coming next year). And Mister Sinister is actually Stryker's boss. Weapon X is a project to build better Marauders who are cloned multiple times over each time an operative dies and after Logan's escape, Logan couldn't be cloned but Sarah Kinney could be impregnated with Logan's DNA and Logan's daughter is the newest Marauder.
That is honestly probably what Wolverine 3 is going to be. It's already been stated that Wolverine 3 is based on a storyline from the comics and since it's Hugh Jackman's last time playing the character, it's the last time that XMO can be shown in flashbacks.
The original 4 horseman were a blast. Loved watching them. The opening scene with them was mind blowing. (Who were they? The lady was Telekinetic or so it seemed. Everything was happening so fast I could tell what the others powers were) Does anyone know who they were?
