How I see it: the term "Apocalypse" means 'uncovering' or to reveal something that is hidden. In relation to his social darwinism it could be argued that En Sabah Nur's appearance intended to reveal the true powerful on earth. Thus Apocalypse revealed Phoenix and in return Phoenix revealed that Apocalypse is a false god and unfit.

If they don't reboot they are likely going into phoenix and dark phoenix.

the villains will probally start being like ones In Deadpool and MCU.

I don't know but the excitement for this movie has died down for me. I almost don't want to even watch it anymore. I have not heard one good thing about the movie thus far on facebook or any other comic related web site. Also seems like the word of mouth won't be any good either looking at the box office reports. If FOX wants to make more team movies after Apocalypse hopefully they try another formula since it clearly is not working anymore.

Really there is no purpose to putting them into the future beyond the belief that its missing out being stuck in the past.

no present day comic book movies are gonna destroy the world and mankind, no one wants to see their favourite mutants die and not ever X-Men movie is gonna cross over all over the place because they want these films to stand on their own

reboot is still a possibilty but that is just as dumb an idea as when they did it in comics.

I did like that this movie proved I was right about Mystique's age. I got into a debate with another member who claimed that Raven was around 30 in First Class. Since she says to Jean in this movie that she was around her age on her first mission, that puts her at 18-20. Yay.

OMG...they just reported that the film only brought in $65 million for the weekend. That's a huge stumble from the $110 million DOFP had with its opening.

There's no "positive" way to spin this: this is NOT good for the franchise. After the massive, global success of DOFP this movie should've been a runaway hit. Even X3 was massive on the momentum of X2--and it was critically panned too. And after Fant4stic's bombing last year this situation should give FOX some pause. The fans, critics and GA aren't enthralled anymore.

Sunday in US is not over (even in Europe it is not over yet). 65M is for 3days weekend, not 4days weekend.

Of course it is still a "failure".

I honestly disagree with this notion. It feels like quite a bit of his movie power set came from the comics or the cartoons. Or at least had similarities to Apocalypse in the comics.

The only difference was his use of sand powers, which I have seen some argued was part of a transmutation/matter changing power set. Could his powers be more properly defined and his personality be more fleshed out. Yes. But I don't think following, or straying from, the comics was the problem in this case.

Even when toned down and more grounded in this movie, he is still somewhat of an op supervillain, and personality was more or less in line with the comics and 90'a cartoon but I think should have been more fleshed out and ideals delved into.

It took the X-Men(Cyclops, Quicksilver, Jean going full Phoenix , Professor X, and Beast) and a Storm and Magneto with increased power set in both the physical and astral world in order to take him down. But unfortunately it was scaled down with so-so choreography so it didn't really show off how epic it felt honestly

I wasn't refering to him using other mutants as vessels. Yes I know that but he wasn't Apocalypse from the comics in terms of power and in way a bit to nice. He didnt morph his body or grow weapons or shape shift. APOCALYPSE HERE JUST FELT CHEAP. Apocalypse has never had telepathy and he had shielding in his armor to keep out telepaths.hell in AoA he had every telepath killed and Emma Frost lobotomized. How he was able to battle Charles on the Astral plane was beyind me. This is where Singer should've has Charles shine to show how great he is but he made him weak so Jean can get a moment. I just felt their shouldve been something to stop Xavier like a failsafe Apocalypse had and then Jean stepped in. I didnt care for Apocalypse but I liked Isaacs, his performance was fine and he had to work with what the script called for.

I don't think the final box office will be so 'horrible' that they'll recast the new younger cast.

As long as they ditch the 'bigger = better sequel' mentality and go for a solid, original and focused story (maybe like Proteus?), I'm sure the franchise is safe. Deadpool has proven blockbusters don't always need big budgets.

They need to face facts. It's the screenplay/story that made this movie mediocre. It had some good stuff in it but overall it was underwhelming. It had no depth or substance and if it did, we've already seen it before (Magneto arc). Everything else was fluff/filler ([BLACKOUT]Wolverine sequence[/BLACKOUT]) and fan service (Psylocke, Storm, Angel) and ideas were poorly executed/translated onto the screen (Horsemen as background characters). It just fell flat (Apocalypse's objective) and predictable [BLACKOUT](Phoenix)[/BLACKOUT].

That's exactly what I am thinking. Use Cable to time travel the young X-team to Deadpool and come up with some kind of story involving Mr. Sinister/Phoenix

Went to a graduation yesterday and saw some fam who saw it. They're basically general knowledge when it comes to comic books and have seen the movies.

They liked X:A and said it was good. One of my cuzzos was confused, she was like ' Why was Storm a bad guy?' I explained all that and she was like who was 'scissor-hand lady', she was referring to Psylocke, who she loved and wants her outfit...lol...she was all like, 'if I was young, I'd rock that'.

I won't be seeing it until Wed which is great...no huge crowd, screaming kids kicking the back of your seat, people on cellphones, etc.

I think Proteus could be a more fresh villain, instead of going for Sinister right after Apocalypse. They could keep on hinting at him and use him in the third movie with the new young cast.

Being Moira's son and the unique danger of his powers has a lot of potential, story-wise and action-wise. How to deal with Proteus could be a great source of conflict. Muir Island could also be a interesting setting.
