So watching this today. Thank you Netflix. It is kind of awful. Trying to decide what is worst, this or The Last Stand. Not good.

I'd say Apocalypse.
I actually dont hate TLS though. I mean it's not good, especially compares to X1 and X2, but it's not like XMOW where it's awful. I can watch TLS on FX and be entertained, but I would never buy it unless I'm being a completionist. TLS also at least has Kelsey Grammar as Beast, Jackman as Wolverine, Stewart and McKellan. And honestly the final battle on that island is one of the few times in this series the X-Men all stand together in a big battle and use teamwork.

Apocalypse though? The only scene I really liked was the Wolverine rampage which was completely unnecessary to the film. And it's just boring, which is the main rule I ask movies not to make.

"Well, at least we can all agree the third one's always the worst", oh how right you are, Sophie! :hehe:

Teamwork? what teamwork did they use? you mean because they stood together? was that their was teamwork? or just the bit where they take down magneto? because that wasn't any different to the apocalypse take down, infact the apocalypse take down probably had more teamwork with a bigger threat.

So yeah there was very little teamwork in TLS, infact you barely see what iceman, kitty and colossus were doing in that huge fight, why was colossus even there just to throw wolverine to take down magneto?

For me personally i can't watch X3, i can watch Origins and i have watched Origins many times because its shown alot of tv and i don't take that film as anything but messy fun but if X3 was ever shown i'd likely change the channel, i can't watch X3.

Infact i can't remember the last time i watched X3, probably years ago and yet i still unfortunately remember alot of it.

i love the honest trailer line after that "Congratulations you played yourself"

and as they were saying on their commentary. Someone had to have seen that and though. Hey guys maybe we remove that line

I mean the movie flows the same with or without it

ok

Damn when you put it like that...... XD

The future was so bright after DOFP. Can you imagine how the Fox executives must feel? Oh to be a fly on that wall..

I can't help but think they are either unaware of it all, or running round like headless chickens unsure what to do.

The studio is trapped in a loop and we haven't come very far in the past decade.

We had a modest relaunch - in 2000 it was X1, in 2011 it was First Class

We had an acclaimed sequel - in 2003 it was X2, in 2014 it was DoFP

We had a very divisive threequel - in 2006 it was X3, in 2016 it was XM:A

So what next?

After X3, there were all sorts of spin-offs on the table: a Wolverine origins film, A Magneto origins story, a Young X-Men and also, it was later revealed, ideas for an X4/X5. What happened with all that? X-Men Origins: Wolverine was made and was supposed to lead into Young X-Men, but that was scrapped and combined with X-Men Origins: Magneto to create First Class. X4/X5 became DoFP and (probably) XM:A.

Where are we now? After XM:A, there are all sorts of spin-offs on the table: a final Wolverine movie (Logan, which has wrapped), another Deadpool (though it's had a wobble with the director and composer both quitting), Gambit, New Mutants and X-Force. The Hellfire TV series has been scrapped, but Legion is going full steam ahead.

So what next? Deadpool 2 could still happen with the right director (someone who can do modern action sequences). As for the rest, who knows, but in the past some of the other projects ended up being combined...

Discuss!

I hope this is true. The X-men series should have been rebooted after Wolverine Origins bombed

fans and critics hated it but origins was hardly a bomb

origins at time made 179 million.it's box office caused fox to immedetly start devolping another wolverine film.

adjusted for inflation it made 207 million domesticly.

Origins isn't good film but it was hardly a bomb.

it depends on what you mean by bomb... financial? no... critical? yes...

same can be said for Amazing Spider-Man 2 and even Spider-Man 3... both financial successes... but they are still considered "bombs"

TASM2 is still considered a financial bomb though with each movie doing domestically & internationally (except SM3) worse than the last, but this more-so due to supposedly how exorbitant the costs became.

The X-Men series just keep plowing ahead even with the string of global BO blunders since the TLS being the first to not make 3x its budget.

The Amazing Spider-man 2 made 700 million ww but since sony spent so much making film and promating it,it barely broke even and only did with home video.

critics and fans hated origins but it wasn't a bomb.also studios really don't care what we fans and critics think only what box office is.see warner brothers.

While I like APocalypse it proves the point that fox should have gotten in past GA likes original cast more than First Class cast.

Adjusted for inflation both X2 and despised last stand were equilvent of box office hits like BVS back in their day.HellLAst stand had better reviews than DCEU.I disagree with critics and think apocalypse is better than last stand but those are the truth.

I love first ASM but it's clear GA loved the rami spider-man better.Sony should have given rami time to get script right for SPider-man 4 and then gone james bond route and just continued it with new director and star

with batman we have evidance a more grounded batman will get better reception in own universe than a more so called comic accurate batman in shared universe

Agreed, but see any studio really.

I caution whenever someone wants to compare the reception of decade old cbms with current ones. We had a different cbm consuming market then
and... adjusted for inflation, both X2 and TLS come $200+ mil short of BvS.
Fox should have simply played it smarter with Apocalypse.

The amazing spider-man 2 being considered a financial flop is when you know its not the film thats a flop its the studio, i mean 700 mil? when thats considered bad you know something is wrong with the world but hey sony put all their eggs into one basket and apparently had to make a billion to really profit which is ridiculous.

No film should be made to have to make a billion, they are just hurting themselves with that quite obvious risk.

after seeing this Apocalypse concept art, I really wished Singer would have used digital mo-cap technology to create Apocalypse.

The concept art works for me because the character is so physically imposing and the proportions are a lot better than the final Oscar Isaac version:

That does look pretty good. I quite like the costume overall, it just sucked in execution.

I saw a BTS picture where Apocalypse looked shorter than Magneto even... I mean come on, Singer.

I now admit I would've preferred this, it would've made mobility easier and wouldn't have made him look so stiff (not to mention this doesn't have that skirt from the official costume), and as long as they made Isaac taller he would've looked imposing.

Adjusted for Ticket Price Inflation (USA)

X-men The last Stand $308,070,400

X-men 2 $306,918,200

X-men Days of future past $242,225,100

X-men $251,271,000

X-men First Class 156,571,600

X-Men: Apocalypse $153,378,400

Terrible.

It will also become the lowest grossing Marvel or DC film of 2016 by next week.

Kinberg at his finest.

I cannot wait for his throw back to the fourth one if they plan to include Phantom Menace opening night in the film.

lol, unfortunately if they stay with the pattern, it will be 1993 so it'd be very early 90s ish...

Less than half of The Last Stand. Damn.

That is the future of the series in a nutshell with this younger cast.

Heck, if it wasn't for China, it wouldn't outgrows X3 worldwide.

Maybe a Jaws 4 reference though I don't think it came out in 1993.

I just wonder how low the box office gross of X-Men '93 would be in 2019.
