Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - Part 10

the x-men in the comics have dozens of uniform types
why would the movies have to avoid this? or follow the line only from one
if people find these changes strange, there is something wrong.
:whatever:

its fine to change costume after a few movies, but to change costumes drastically on each sequel, well, its lack of consistency and dont let people enjoy the costumes for some time. Not to mention that its pretty superficial, constantly changing the look to sell the movie differently, as some execs or Kinberg probably think. "lets try something different to see what happens". What about you respect what you all started? that shows lack of interest and love for their own work in the previous movie, imo.

from all the comments on the net, around 80% of the people has expressed that they wanted to see the Apocalypse last scene costumes again. But no, its better to drop them, because "its my movie" lol.

I think they'll be releasing some official photos of the costumes soon. I don't think they'll want to repeat what happened in Apocalypse.

but this time most are praising
but it would be nice an official photo yes :woot:

Those costumes looked like bad cosplay imo

and sincerely
I did not see all this love for the final apocalypse costumes, which are quoting
Most of the reviews I saw, it was that they looked cosplay or paintball clothing

As always these boards turn hellish after something new is released.

in the EW image released before the premiere, yeah, they looked a mess lol, I agree. But they look pretty fine in that last scene, with that light.
Since it was a quick scene, it worked, but of course they would need an improvement, in materials and design, but it was a perfect first step, to improve on the sequel.

What I think Fox and Kinberg are missing 100% is the importance of creating a brand, an "image", something that can become iconic in the general audience eyes. Something that viewers see in various sequels, and can recognize everywhere, on cosplays, parties, videogames, tv shows... Its called having its own stamp. Something that people get familiar with and end loving it and seeing it on different places. Thats how iconic images are created. They end having an impact. But if you change a costume in such a big way sequel after sequel, you wont ever create an iconic look. never.

I don't want them to continue with the costumes presented at the end of Apocalypse (they looked awful). I want them to continue with the idea of individualized colorful costumes presented.

If I expect anything from this movie, is delievering very polished VFX and costumes. We'll see.

It's too late for that. Except for FC & Dark Phoenix X-MEN wear black. FOXMEN are known for wearing black.

We should just be estastic for this simple change finally.

I was estastic with FC finally using the yellow/blue costumes, and with great materials and pieces, imo.
So this is no surprise to me. This is pretty basic in terms of effort. I know all the work that there is behind creating an outfit, costume, and the like, so sorry, but this is pretty cheap for the fourth x-men period movie. If this was 2011, the first prequel, I would understand and appreciate it, but in 2018? no way lol. I just expect better from a $150m-$200m blockbuster

A lack of consistency was built into the FC franchise by virtue of the ridiculous and completely unnecessary 10 year time jumps. Kinberg and co. are basically rebooting the series with every entry in the series and there's no flow between the films. They could have had consistency if they picked a decade and stuck with it.

We are getting matchy blue and yellow for atleast this scene. You dont know the rest so you have no justification for your rant.

I'm criticising the leaked picture that feature the costumes. Did I make a conclusion that there wouldn't be other costumes in the film? No I did not.

Well maybe there would be another set of costumes for the final scene.:o who knows, but I'm not discussing that right now.

Anyway, these blue and yellow costume costumes are such a downgrade from the costumes teased in Apocalypse. Like those costumes might look cosplayish but they don't look samey and boring compare to the new costumes.

I’m not understanding why some of you guys want Simon to continue on what Singer already established. I understand the need for consistency but every director is entitled to their own unique vision. Singer visioned the X-Men as the secret ops team, Simon is (from the looks of it) goingnto embrace what makes them the X-Men, blue and yellow outfits straight from the 90s, Mystique is actually the color she’s supposed to be, and no telling what else he has in store for us. Let’s be real this franchise was getting stale and hopefully Simon got take it in anew exciting direction. After ten years (since Apocalypse) I would hope their would be some changes I mean even Batman doesn’t wear the same suite from movie to movie. This movie is Kinberg’s baby and he wants to put his stamp on it so kudos to him.

I don't have a problem with changing up the costumes from the danger room costumes. I eXpected them to upgrade them and make changes to make it look more eXpensive and sleak. But going from colorful individual costumes to matchy costumes again? Seriously? like people have been asking for individualized costumes with different colors/design for each of the members for years and this is the 7th X-Men team film. And they are going backwards with this one. How is that fine?

They are consistent for being inconsistent. These films don't flow well next to each other "because its been ten years, they had plenty of multiple costumes, personality changes, etc in the course of ten years".

But at least they are consistent focusing on Xavier, Erik and Raven. :o

I hope those are the suits from start to finish. That'd be a first for this color scheme. Similar to Muir Island Saga

Aside from the color, it looks nothing like the Muir Island X-Men costumes. They didn't have a big x in the chest and they wore yellow underwear, belt with a x symbol.

These costumes are more similar to the New X-Men costumes which debuted in the early 2000s.
