Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - Part 12

Well from the looks of it Dark PhoeniX will be the final Foxverse film eXcluding the Deadpool films. And I seriously doubt it would be a great finale. While New Mutants might not get released in theaters, and if it does, I doubt it would get glowing reviews. So yes, the series will be ending in a bad note.

While Logan definitely didn't give the X-Men a fitting ending in 2029. So much for resurrecting those characters in Dofp...

The Hollywood Reporter said there were "major reshoots" on the film because of reworking the third act.

It gave no timings except "late summer/early fall."

That Twitter suggestion of two months of reshoots doesn't sound entirely unreasonable if this is the dramatic climax and finale of the film with big scenes and action sequences.

As for them having to digitally re-create sets, I'm surprised studios don't hang on to everything longer, at least until test screenings are done to determine if reshoots are needed. Especially with this being Kinberg's first directing job where he wants to make sure it's all as good as can be.

Lets analyze what the article ACTUALLY says:

The movie was in postproduction, and insiders say it had come in slightly underbudget. But sources say that the third act will need some reworking, thus reshoots.

But one insider expects the shoot to cost under $10 million and to take place in late summer/early fall.

One insider says Kinberg and the studio had been looking to move Dark Phoenix for some time. The new February date gives the movie its own opening, away from other studio tentpoles, and puts it on Presidents Days weekend

Now these are all based on what certain "sources" are telling The Hollywood Reporter identified only as "one insider". 10 Million doesn't indicate that extensive a shoot, certainly not for 2 months. Reshoots traditionally cost between $6 million and $10 million, and typically last a week or two. Justice league allegedly had nearly double that in costs for reshoots and lasted nearly two months I heard. The article also seem to indicate that the change of release date was planned in advance. I wouldn't put much stock into the "digitally recreated set" claim. Fox has done reshoots for many of its films and Kinberg has been a producer of films that have had reshoots. If they are doing reshoots, it sounds like they are merely patching up the edges to make the film tighter rather than reworking a large portion of the movie.

i feel the same way.

Also, naturally there was more investment in the characters in X3 than XMA where a lot of new actors are introduced.

And I'm sorry, but I don't think we still have enough emotional attachment for these new characters as much as we had for the OT version of them. And if DP was bad even with what Famke brought and the emotional attachment we had for her Jean, I don't have hope for this new DP. Of course I can't speak for everybody, but I needed more time with Sophie's Jean.

I think we don't have enough emotional attachment for these new characters. We've seen them only in one movie, and it was a bad one.

CinamaCon is just around the corner and should give folks something about DoFP I would imagine.

You mean Dark Phoenix? Fox will be at CinemaCon Thurs April 26th to give a presentation highlighting its future release schedule. I had posted this a little earlier but the comments are disappearing.

Isn't it better to rename this thread "X-Men Dark Phoenix - General discussion", instead of deleting and deleting posts?

Seriously, this is an 18 years franchise, and talking about this movie will inevitably, and always, touch on other subjects, because they're all connected: the source material (comics), the past movies, the actors, the producers, the studio, comparisions to other CBMs, the current context of CBMs, the future of the franchise. Do I have to move to the comics thread when I mention the Dark Phoenix saga, Claremont, etc?

Isn't it better to rename this thread as General Discussion regarding the movie?

They have had the time on this one so hopefully.

Time wouldn't fiX anything if foundation is bad. There are doing reshoots for a reason, and I doubt its just to improve the film. Its probably to fiX the problems of the film.

I hope they show something dark phoenix during the cinemacon, even if it's something 10 seconds :woot:
and that the fox gives official information to put an end to these rumors about the future of the film, reshoots and etc.

It was just posted earlier by Cktopl33 but yeah I agree it will be nice to hear something officially announced regardless of how that turns out.

Yes
It's important that they say something official.
people need to re-discuss about the movie, news, characters, expectations and etc.
currently the debate revolves around only "why are you going to have reshoots"
I do not think that's good, they need to end this.

I still want to understand why so far no actor, director or fox has spoken about these possible reshoots
different from new mutants and deadpool that the actors themselves confirmed, in DP everything is kept in a huge silence.

Presumably none of them have been asked yet. id imagine if the question had ever been put forth to them their response would be online by now.

Anyone watched these from ArtSpear Entertainment? funny little movie characters crossover mash-up battles

The 2nd one has abit more X-Men than the first with a fun little pay off, both quite funny though.

was a full page deleted or something?
what happened?

Almost two pages. Because people were talking about... the X-Men franchise. Especifically TLS, the movie that adapted Dark Phoenix first, and XMA, the movie that sets up the new Dark Phoenix. Both movies written by Simon Kinberg, the man who's directing and writing Dark Phoenix.

got ya :woot:
lets discuss about XMDP then: Kinberg will waste half the x-men once again. and Magneto will get a better role than most of them, once again. :whatever:
see u all next Feb to see it by ourself.

Oh time traveler ey? Tell me, will we make it another year without chemical warfare with Trump in office??

That's off topic LOL If X-men-related posts can be deleted this surely will :oldrazz:

Just to keep this on topic, I wonder if they'll do (or have done) some exterior shots of Hatley Castle for the mansion again. Maybe I should plan a trip to Victoria in the fall.

Just hope for better locations overall for this one. I didn't like most of the sets in Apocalypse. Especially the neon lighting.

Apocalypse's pyramid was cool-looking inside but it features little in the film.
