Probably wanted to go with something more casual (walking around wear) that would at least give a nod to the Phoenix outfit aka Red.

But then she is also wearing a grey outfit in certain scenes and if that was all she wore I'm sure that would be complained about too.

Kinberg wants to prove that his (and Penn’s) X3 script wasn’t what has wrong with X3. Remember that for years he’s been apologizing for that movie but more recently he said the only thing wrong with X3 was that Dark Phoenix wasn’t the main story, that’s why fans hated it (he says only fans hated it because he thinks everyone else loved it). He stepped up to direct because if he allowed anyone else to direct his script, they would mess it up. Basically This Means War, Jumper, XXX: SOTU, F4, Apocalypse all had great scripts.

Suicide Squad made over 746 million worldwide.
Ant Man And The Wasp made 622 million.
As of this writing, Captain Marvel’s international total is 834 million and climbing.
And by the way, CM, that movie that you’re friends told you was just okay, stands a chance of topping out with a 1billion worldwide gross.

There are quite a lot of superhero movies out there and that is going to mean a range of quality and a range of box office... They can't all be billion-dollar behemoths.

The plethora of comic book adaptations is more noticeable if you're a fan of the genre. In which case the thing to do is to expand your horizons and watch other kinds of films and TV shows as well.

I haven't even seen Venom, Captain Marvel,Spider-Man Homecoming, Antman & Wasp, or Aquaman, lol. Been a crazy few months with work and just not managed to get to see them.

They’re both collared red coats.

Tbh I didn’t mind her look in X3. It looks kinda like a costume of sorts with the corset and everything being red.

The new one is a little too casual, but I’m hoping she has a fully fiery Phoenix form.

This is one of the dumber complaints/comparisons people have made about this film. Yes, they're both "red", but beyond that...

What it seems to boil down to is that she's not wearing her classic Dark Phoenix costume, but no one wants to just say that, so they whine about a shiny dress, corset, jacket and tights combo being the same as a long leather coat, t-shirt and jeans because...because.

Easy for a franchise not showing audience fatigue. Bumblebee, Solo, War for the Planet of the Apes, Cars 3 and Ice Age 5 didn't earn more than 500 million worldwide. Also if it wasn't for China, Apocalypse wouldn't have outgrossed X3 worldwide. Like take away China's 120 million from Apocalypse, and Apocalypse would have only earned 420+ million while X3 only earned 3 million from China and X3 earned 459 million and that was back in 2006 (no Imax/no 3d price inflation). I really doubt Dark PhoeniX would even hit 600 million especially Apocalypse only earned less than 550 million. And the hype for Dark PhoeniX is smaller and that would lead to smaller numbers especially in North America.

Also, based from foreign numbers, Dofp is the peak of the franchise as its the only one to earn more than $500 million outside of America (not even the Deadpool movies were close). A shame that foX quickly lost the momentum.

But this is a grounded movie, its goal isnt to appeal to mainstream audience, but a more select group of viewers. (40s-60s years old or so)

Its not gonna make more than Apocalypse. It is not gonna appeal more to kids, families and even the female crowd than Apocalypse. Also its opening against the Secret Life of Pets 2.

And you said its goal isn't to appeal to mainstream audience, so how its gonna outgross Apocalypse. And Apocalypse only earned 543 million.

I like to include The Wolverine because it's the only film that addresses the fallout from The Last Stand, and the post credit scene is a great lead in to DOFP.
