Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

all the opinions I read in the twiter and in other places
puts this movie well above XMA and says that it is at least decent, anxious and nervous for Tuesday / Wednesday, that all this ends well.

Wow. I would call that last tweet a rave. Here's hoping these positive reviews continue!
Well, these are just twitter reactions. As we've seen with Godzilla & Aladdin, full reviews can be a different story. So, I'm still cautious until I see full reviews streaming in and building a review critical rating.

"Diversity of thought?" Weren't you the one who made fun of the people who liked Apocalypse??

Do not you get tired of it?
You do not seem to like it when someone says something good about what you think is bad,...
I did not like XMA, many people liked it, I think it's strange but it does not cause me pain and I'm not going to try to change the person's thinking about the movie or something that she liked about it.
if your intention in answering me was this do not waste your time.

I agree, I was optimistic but I'm always cautious with extreme positive reactions. I'm sure there will be negatives aspects to the film.

That being said it sounds atleast Kinberg made a competent film at its core.

Art, Capitalism, And Dealing With The Dragon Of Disappointment
I’m going to leave this here.. again. For obvious reasons.
When creatives become publicly associated with their creations in audiences’ minds, the whiplash from praise to blame can be stunning. The flat structure of social media amplifies and grants outsize visibility to extreme opinions, while allowing fans to spew their rage directly at those “responsible”. And when there’s overlap between the fan community and already-toxic online hate elements, it becomes all the worse.

Are those opinions gonna be counted in Rottentomatoes.com though? if the good tweets posted here are coming from professional film critics with a verified twitter account, then okay. We will see in 2 to 3 days.

I actually don't mind a-hole Charles, and his dismissal of Logan was one of the few things I liked about TLS. But with "Release your power" in Apocalypse it certainly seemed as though Writer/Director/Producer Simon Kinberg was going in a different direction with Chuck.

In any case, I'm totally Team Charles. All of these "kids" are at least in their mid twenties. Well past the time to suit up and start world saving.

I hate both, not for a flawed Charles (which I'd welcome) but for the awful scene construction.

Mystique took on a no-nonsense field leader role at the end of 'Apocalypse' as Charles had come around to the idea that his values needed to be fought for. He's the compassionate one, he literally feels everyone's feelings. It seems the logical progression for these characters is for him to struggle with putting these kids at risk, while Mystique - the lone wolf type - learns what it means to be part of a family. It's deeply unsatisfying to see this conversation take place in the first act because we don't get to see the characters get there. Another casualty of the 10 year jumps I guess.

As for The Last Stand convo, my main gripe is how the conversation ends. Upon hearing that Charles has messed with Jean's mind, it makes total sense for Logan to be angry. I can buy Charles becoming a little defensive about it too. What doesn't make sense is Logan walking off in a sulk, having resolved nothing, leaving Jean in the hands of Charles despite vehemently disagreeing with what he is doing. The scene exists for exposition, and no-one bothered to write a satisfying conclusion to the ethical debate it started so they just end it with someone walking away. It's really glaring because Logan is stubborn, combative and fiercely protective of Jean and has no reason to just wander off (AND he's right there with her again in the next scene). It's also the only real moment for us to see why Charles did what he did before he is killed, leaving us with a pretty grim last impression of the character.

New clip !

1. Why is Mystique changing into her human form in front of people who know who she is?

2. Why is Mystique calling her teammates kids and having a problem with them doing superhero stuff when in the last movie, ten years prior when they still still teenagers, she was leading them into battle against Apocalypse and telling Cyclops to man up (more or less)?

Presumably the idea if that they are still young and they are going into space and other dangerous places to save people. one even almost died doing so. i assume you would hesitate after almost losing one of them.

That would have been preferable. But I guess Fox wanted to have their cake and eat it too hence why we got such an odd mishmash of characters in FC (to save not using anybody in the OT) And unfortunately, First Class didn't make a huge splash at the box-office. The X-Franchise was still dealing with the fallout of a disappointing conclusion to the OT and the disastrous result of Wolverine Origins.

It didn't. Most people kind of didn't regard it as a full-on X-Men movie as I recall back around when it came out. It just didn't have the wow factor that Fox was looking for. They never committed to the Origins films after Wolverine and finally went with First Class.

It isn't surprising to see that Fox tried to meld things together with the original vision of the reboot trilogy with bringing Singer back. That being said, this Dark Pheonix saga I think was originally meant as a 2 film experience. Would've it sucked? Maybe. That being said, we'll never know based on the movie that's coming out as it'll be different somewhat.

It looks like an official clip.

It also seems to have that edited down aspects most of the clips have (especially the shuttle mission one) since night crawler is just gone when it cuts to Xavier.

It’s all just cut up versions of the NYCC and wondercon footage.

I’m like Jessica chaistains look very creepy and devilish! Kinda upset that we don’t see her in alien form but if there is a reason why we don’t see them in alien form is explained that would be a plus

We see parts of his alien form at some point in the movie.

Wow, I must say..I'm impressed because we haven't seen that yet in any of the trailers/tv spots & it looks GOOD!. This actually has me excited to see what else they're holding back.
I can't wait to see force Xavier up the stairs
It seems to be an exclusive clip in spanish shown on tv. I've seen others on twitter post the same clip from their tvs.

Well at the very least I think we might get some of the best action, visuals, and music of the series so that's a plus. I'm going to expect the worst and hopefully be pleasantly surprised :)

I keep on repeating Kinberg has done it. After years of others butchering his expert scripts, he took the rains and has delivered an expertly crafted caliber product to service and entertain us with characters he has always felt passionate about and is synonymous with. Kinberg IS X-men.

The reviews and ratings are a winner and word of mouth is good. Solid and a well constructed product with skilled direction on display. The haters will see that Kinberg is the one true spirit to carry the franchise forward to Marvel.

Why else would Kinberg take the directorial reigns?

Lot of people are screening the movie tomorrow. Expect some chatter on twitter soon.
