Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

But i still prefer the movie to have the X-Men in the title. And I don't want to see a Cyclops or Storm solo movie either, if thats just gonna mostly feature the X-Men. Just call it a X-Men movie then.

Civil War is another thing and I'm not gonna dwelve on that, though that being said, I would have like a CA3 movie with mostly CA characters while CW being titled as Avengers: Civil War. Especially Sharon Carter and Crossbones didn't have much role in CA3.

Well I have no real interest in seeing a Storm or Cyclops solo movie either. The only solo movie I want to see is Dazzler, and that's because she has tons of potential beyond X-Men and was a solo character unconnected to the X-Men to begin with, so she wouldn't be like taking one of the X-Men team and trying to spin off into a solo.

I remember back when Iron Man and The dark knight came out in the same summer that those movies existing will prevent movies like Fan4stic and X:A and DP ever going into production but not with Kingberg involved :argh:

he said F that hold my mother effin beer lolol

the saddest part is that, in hollywood, it clearly works. he gets to direct that star studded 355 film next. why? WHY?!
He's friends with Chastain. Chastain who has all the power in the world to get a female director to helm her "All-female Spy film," gets her male friend to do it.

When Chastain signed on to do Dark Phoenix she said "Another major reason is Simon Kinberg, who's a friend of mine and a great writer."

I mean I'm sure you two are friends. That's the only thing I'm sure of in that sentence lol
Among the more memorable moments on that Q&A, Kinberg said of X3: "This is our Return of the King."
See my sig.

Ugh it’s just such a shame. No writer or director of this series has really gotten everything right with these movies. Singer had flashes of brilliance but still did horrible sh*t to these characters. James Mangold was probably the only person who gave a crap about the character but then again he had Logan who he could do anything with.

Kinberg, Singer, Ratner, Penn even Vaughn never really grasped these stories and characters. I can’t wait for Kevin to seek out someone who cares about the source as well as the fans. I just wish it was sooner so I could get excited for what’s to come.

Disney's main objective here should be to break even. Looks like its going to have a solid weekend to at least reach that point.

Disney/Fox will love this narrative: ‘Dark Phoenix’ To Rise Above ‘Secret Life Of Pets 2’ In $170M+ Global Debut.

Never mind that SLOP2 already opened in other markets ahead of DPh. That $170M is also down from Apocalypse.

Gonna be a full house tonight in Dolby Prime theater! Can’t wait to hear Zimmers work with this sound system.

Unfortunately the IMAX fan events were listed as separate things for some reason, so when they looked up the movie, not as many people got to see the IMAX event listings. I honestly didn’t until it was too late, but I’m happy!

Not really. It’s coming in under XMA in most markets according to Deadline

Lawrence has sensibilities? She is one of the dumbest actresses in Hollywood, just look at her gross and disgusting behaviour on Graham Norton's, even Pratt was uncomfortable. I suppose she does proudly show the world just how simple she is, though.

I mean look she is very openly liberal with her politics. But besides that, I just think it's not OK for Mystique to be "hiding" especially around other mutants when there's no real explanation for it. Even in the comics, Mystique tends to be a very prideful person.

IMHO to me the message sets a bad precedent against X-Men's anti-prejudice messages and being who you are.

Yes, I get it, from a practical standpoint, Lawrence doesn't want to wear the blue paint and heavy makeup. Alright, but there's never an in storyline reason explaining why she does it.

Chastain criticized Singer a lot without knowing him.

Whedon is perfect,I don’want Taika or Peyton Reed.

Ugh looks like Claremont liked the movie. "Pros: It began. Con: It ended."

I'll give him 6 months to change his tune, like he always does.

In Claremeont's defense, he was out getting the star treatment on the red carpet on Tuesday night. Do you really think he was going to badmouth it?

EDIT:

Oops, meant Chris Claremont

I do feel like I missed out not participating in that Q&A. To this day, I don’t know what I was doing to have missed it lol
It was very cool, until we confirmed most of what they said was complete BS.
The guys, Matt and Ted, had to stay professional, but I wanted to crucify Kinberg... I'm sure I'm not the only person you've either seen write or voice that statement, since you've worked with people that actually had to work with him.
Ratner shot 2 alternate endings to Rogue’s storyline. One of them was of Rogue NOT taking the cure. You could very well have a storyline of Marie, going to take the cure because life is hard for someone who can’t touch anyone. Because she wasn’t available to shoot the third act battles.

AND THEN NOT TAKE THE CURE. Rogue showing up at the mansion, cured is a slap in the face for what this franchise, this IP, THE X-MEN means to the fans.
That whole movie was a slap in the face.
I don't even like to remember watching it.

Chastain criticized Singer a lot without knowing him.
She criticized him without knowing she's the film's producer. When confronted with that she said "I've never even seen him around the set. I'm not going to shut up just because he's my boss."

He's never brought him up since. Nice Jess.

Yea I totally get that. Claremont has said many times he's a frustrated actor. This is him finally enjoying his time in the sun. After many years of obscurity, even after making the X-men what they are today (sorry Stan), I don't blame him.

That's why I said I'll give him half a year to change his tune about this movie. lol

Oh trust me my friend gave a hearty LOL when I showed him the film's RT score.
