i usually like to be a more calm person, but im not gonna lie ur kind of pushing my buttons. When was it ever said or EVEN IMPLIED that Genosha would be destroyed in the movie. U are literally jumping to the worst possible conclusion with no evidence only because u think he's a stupid damn "drama queen" or whatever. Could genosha have been its own film? i guess, depending on what you had to offer in a 2 and a half hour genosha story but overall there is nothing say you couldn't put it within another story and still make use of it just like putting planet hulk in Thor Ragarok.

For the destruction of a place like that I think the impact would be greater if it had time to bed in in viewer's minds. This is the same feeling I have about DP being done too early before this new cast have had time to settle in. Also for eg Vader's reveal in ESB had more impact than it would have done in the first Star Wars film as audiences had the film and a few years in between to form a solid opinion of what Vader was before turning that on its head. Just my opinion of course.

And it's yet another mutant extinction/genocide event in these films.

Someone at Fox does not like mutants very much. Maybe they know that mutants are an allegory for blacks, Jews, gays, etc, and want those wiped out too. I feel this series is very cynical, sadistic and nihilistic.

We've had Sentinels, modified corn, Xavier's brainfart... these mutants are doomed! And of course Apocalypse wiped out Cairo, a Muslim population.

I hope the MCU presents - sometimes at least - a more positive picture of the mutant world (and of ethnic minorities, for that matter).

And yes, I know the comics feature such events but not in every single issue. I feel like Fox's right-wing supremacist agenda is surfacing here. It's like a mutant version of Fox News.

Yes, Genosha could have been explored in more than one film. But thankfully, it won't be, as the MCU is taking the reins and we (hopefully) won't have any more misused and wasted concepts.

Magneto is in the movie and Kinberg says he always writes meaty roles for J-Law, Fassbender and McAvoy. They're the big stars, the highest paid - and they aren't getting just a cameo for the amount of money they're earning.

So if you think Fassbender's Magneto is going to sit on Genosha doing embroidery, you are sorely mistaken.

Furthermore, Jean Grey has to descend into darkness and be made a real threat. Do you think that will be by spilling hot coffee on someone, lol? In the comics she destroyed a planet of aliens. So it seems perfectly plausible that in this film she destroys Genosha as an equivalent of the comic book scenario.

And do you think Magneto will carry on with his embroidery when that happens?

Uhh seriously it's already confirmed the movie will focus on the "x-women." Where in the EW magizine did it imply or say he will get a new arch or a new "meaty role." How come there was JEAN GREY ON THE COVER instead of mistique, or prof x, or magneto. Right now we know the characters for sure that are getting main focus are Jean Grey, jessica chastain's character, and cyclops. I'm sure prof x and mystique will have their own little arcs but nothing implies they're getting the main focus. Throughout the EW magazine it was mostly talked about Jean Grey/ Dark Pheonix and her struggle NOT whatever magnetos doing. Even if Jean Grey kills some mutants on Genosha how do u even know that will be end of the island? How do u know we'll never see it again? Again ur jumping to the worst possible conclusion.

To refresh everyone on the original rumor from this summer that revealed Genosha was in the movie, the rumor said it was a floating island, using Magneto’s massive powers carried over from Apocalypse. Then it says Jean loses control and destroys it, reminding me of AOU.

Now with what we know from the EW article with the fact that Jean goes there to seek help from Magneto, it all makes sense.

What I want to see is a twist on her last comic book death, with Genosha being destroyed, Magneto tracks her down and kills her using that electro magnetic pulse thing he did, but his time, she gets back up after everyone thinks she’s dead and flares up again. That would be awesome to see.

Let that soak in. It means they have a significant role to play if Kinberg/Fox wanted them back at huge cost...but also that one or both may not make it to the end of the movie.

Excuse me, im really sorry i didnt know there were actual leaks of Genosha being destroyed i thought it was something u made up. My bad it was totally my fault, but i still dont see whats wrong with it being destroyed. Couldnt Magneto make it again with his apocalypse powers? Also this could be really good for Jean Grey's development. I'm sorry again about the error on my part it's just from the little i've seen from this thread/topic it seems the most toxic i've ever seen. Meh they i expect the movie to focus mostly on jean Grey and the "x-women." I have no doubt magneto, prof x will have something to do but not be the main focus. I mean remember Scarlett johanssen and how shes payed more than most of the other actors and i dont see her getting top billing in every movie shes in. I mean what, do u expect mystique and magneto to become pheonix's or something LOL. That would be funny as hell. And another thing if magneto and mystique weren't taking a back seat then why not focus on them fro the EW magizine. Why would u put the unknown sophie Turner actress on the cover and why would u have only one pic of magneto without him even being in costume Lol. I think u guys might be exaggerating the roles.
