But they both filmed for roughly a month. It’s been said before but Ian McKellan shot X2 in two weeks and look how big his role was.

Some fans still need to learn how filming process is different on each movie and actors agendas can be all over the place or all their scenes filmed in a short period of time, while still having a pivotal role in the story

Tbh if people are gonna obsess over this stuff then they are just gonna ruin it for themselves.

The original X4 movie was going to focus on younger characters who would take over completely for X5 cuz the OT cast was going to be too expensive. So technically you are right, but we also got X5 and X3.5 as well with Apocalypse and First Class. And they added time travel rather than doing these in a chronological order.

There was no original X4. The one LSD mentioned was months before First Class underperformed. And I doubt that was just going to feature Iceman, Kitty and the other younger mutants. Anyway, we should have gotten X5 and waiting for X6 right now if only the producers were in their right minds continuing the story of the X-Men in the present days and not step backward. But in a way, those films would have been written by Kinberg, though we might not get get so many Fassbender/jlaw/Hoult complaints.. At least the Ot cast got a decent farewell in the form of Dofp/Logan unlike First Class/Apocalypse cast in the upcoming Dark Phoenix.

While Apocalypse/Dark Phoenix/First Class shouldn't called as X-Men 5 6 7... Those are just prequels.

I'll repeat a tweet I saw on that very subject here:

Between Ian McKellen filming all his X2 in 2 weeks and Famke finishing her all 5 scenes in the Wolverine in two days. There's no telling how many scenes they could film in a month unless you were there. #EducatingFanboys :o

Perhaps they don't have a lot of scenes together and it wouldn't make sense for Mystique to be with Erik again after how their paths separated at the end of XA. Mystique chose to stay and Erik left.

If [BLACKOUT] she does die I hope it reflects how much the team embraced her mentor role, even though we wouldn't have seen it because of the ten year time jump T.T and that they're truly gutted[/BLACKOUT]. It also seems like the team will try to take Jean down but Scott's love will make him stay by her side no matter how 'dark' Jean gets.

On Chastain being a shapeshifter, no doubt she will shift into people Jean knows to manipulate her into going full dark. I also hope she is Cassandra Nova that manipulates Jean into committing genocide, imagine the urgency to stopping Jean, the weight the team has on their shoulders. People are complaining how they're probably introducing Genosha just to destroy it. She is just killing people, the island will still be there lol This would be a toned down version of her eating a star and destroying a planet.

Well Famke was not a main character in The Wolverine. And honestly, if Mystique is as supporting as Magneto was in X2, it might be a win for the fans, considering she begins the movie as team leader. :oldrazz:

You didn't get my point, if Famke could filmed her scenes (that were spread out through the film) in 2 days. What else more for those two actors in a month.

And you better be right that Mystique IS a supporting character as she should be in a X-Men film.

I miss Romijn Mystique :csad:

Jlaw is **** as Mystique. I am watching First Class right now and she's an America's sweetheart making up codenames for everyone. Mystique is never an American sweetheart.

The problem with JLaw is she has a rough around the edges, no-nonsense, say it like it is personality and it shows in her acting for almost all her roles. She is rumoured to be a Weinstein girl so yeah..

Mystique is supposed to be conniving, sultry, deadly, SILENT (hence mysterious). I wish they developed her in between FC and DoFP, with the loss of Azazel and her son, she turns into the cold, no remorse killer she is in the OT. Remember how she snapped the guys neck on the convoy and how bad ass she was infiltrating Styker's base and flipping the bird?

I hated what they did with JLaw's Mystique in X-Men Apocalypse. They turned her into a hero type character (that the younger X-Men worshiped and sucked up to), and spent the majority of her screen time in regular human form because JLaw didn't want to spend hours in the makeup chair.

I found it hilarious when Storm explained to Apocalypse that she wants to be just like Mystique, he rolled his eyes like "whatever" lmaooo

That was funny.

How awesome would have been if the Dofp sequel was set in the present and there were no Magneto and Mystique and possibly for X6 as well. Kinberg would have written the script but it would be one less thing to complain about.

I'm just fed up with the series, like I am binge watching the 6 team films and I hate how wasted the original cast that werent playing Xavier/Logan and thàt their story didn't really feel complete. While the motivation of making these X-Men films set in the past, seems like getting more juice from Professor X and Magneto, then reinventing Mystique to something she isn't in the comics. So all of this have greatly affected my viewing experience with the previous X-Men films. The reboot should happen as soon as possible do give me a new hope regarding these X-films.

So. Much. Cringe. That, along with the kids running around and screaming (check out Mystique's and Banshee's bad acting) when Shaw and Azazel attack the CIA compound.

As a film, it's good. But in hindsight, its not really an ideal X-Men film especially now that the First Class cast replaced the original cast, the cast that should still be headlining these films and should have later team up with Gambit, X-Force, Deadpool and New Mutants and whatever Kinberg is planning. Anyway can't for the MCU reboot.

Kevin Feige (probably) saves the X-Men. *fingers cross**

I think the infinity gauntlet will alter reality after Infinity Wars, easy way to incorporate the existing X-Men cast, or they can just start from scratch with the original 5 but omg another reboot zzz

There is no real way to bring the X-Men into the MCU without rebooting it. The two continuities wouldn't match up. The original trilogy cast are not coming back. The First Class folks are on their way out. For a whole host of reasons its best to just start with the cleanest slate possible.

It wouldn't matter if it matches up or not at the moment, the "now" reality would be new with X-Men and Avengers etc. all already existing in it. A quick way to do it imo.

Which wouldn't make them main characters. In comparison to the other actors who shot for longer than a month, there's no telling how many MORE scenes those actors filmed in a near 5 month shooting schedule. So, anyway........

They can use the concept of multiverses and interdimensional travel along with time travel. Things can be changed around without completely rebooting. The continuities don't have to match up. They can still use some characters and recast other characters as different versions, like making Wolverine his more comic accurate short hairy appearance. Now they have the M'Kraan Crystal and all types of advanced alien technology at their disposal since Disney-Marvel appear to be going more cosmic.

Cringe right...I know. They should have done a bro- dance off to defeat Shaw instead. Less cringe :o

There's just no way that KevinFeige would allow the FoxVerse to be integrated into their own universe. First of all, Foxverse screwed up so many characters that Marvel Studios probably want to redeem them and start from scratch. You can't redeem those characters (especially if they were killed in a Foxverse film) if you are acknowledging what happened in the Fox films since that would just lead to more continuity errors and retcons.

Second, Apocalypse/First Class cast aren't as marketable as the original X-Men cast. they'd be extremely lucky to be asked in the MCU playing the same characters. Andrew Garfield wasn't asked to return. So I doubt Tie, Sophie, Alesandra, Cody, Evan and McAvoy will be approached.

Third, just start from scratch! Personally speaking, I've endured this franchise for 17 years and I just want a fresh start for the X-Men in the films now. There's just so much baggage and mistakes in the film franchise that Fox have created for Disney to drag it to their more successful and well planned franchise would just be unwise.

No. That would just confuse audience. And as if keeping Foxverse continuity would be for the better, it won't!

This is Disney's turn now. So they should hire actors that Fox didn't cast and create their own continuity for the X-Men.
